Are the Ugliest Droid in game hands down. I know a lot of you DE's have an affinity for this droid, not sure why, I loved blasting him in Jedi Knights. After looking at them again last night in the Droid Cave on Lok....they still look like an in-bred Cousin of the Tin-man from the Wizard of Oz.

PLEASE Devs, give us battle droids or any other droid models for the "new" droids that are coming... I'd hate to start singing "If I only had a heart" everytime I see one of those uglies walking around.

PS . Tthe "wild" Droidekas are definitely Bad Ass! I know if we get them they will be Toned Down, the avg. PC version of anything you see in the wild is at least 1/3 as powerful, but Dayam they are tough in the wild.

Hahahahaahahah!!! IG88s are cheesy looking! I'm sure the kick butt with bazookas top heads and everything, but dang they're goofy. There's one in Mos Easily near the cantina by the bank. I think he's a BH trainer or something.

Droideka, on the other hand... they outta call 'em Drool-eka. Very cool.

That's one of the things I like about droids in Star Wars: they look like they are built for function and not to be metal men. I read someone on this forum say "Why can't a protocol droid be a battle droid? Just replace its hand with a gun..." Why would I want something with the physical mobility limitations of a human fighting for me when a probot hovers over rough terrain, can see in all directions at once and has weapons mounted whichever direction the designer wants? If I were to designa killing machine from scratch, it wouldn't look like a man...

I'd design my robot killing machine in the shape of a man. In fact, I'd probably craft him in the general likeness of Richard Nixon. Can't think of a more terrifying evil droid than that

Thats a narrow point of view. What if the combat droid is meant as a security force, to deal with a populace. There is the idea of making the machine more like the sentient in order to promote a comfortability. The fact that they are not ultimate killing machines would make them better for security issues. Especially if they have to interact with the public. Can you imagine walking up to a Droideka and asking for information? Might as well have Darth Maul as a crossing guard for schools.

Well if Darth Maul was the crossing guard, you wouldn't havea problem with Jay-walking or truancy. :-)

For those who haven't been there, the droidekas in the cave have approx. 9600 HAM, Light armor with 35% Kinetic / Energy (I think) And kick like Mules!

Now given how pc versions of things are typically about 1/3 npc versions, a DE made Droideka would have about 3K HAM....sounds like our Old Probots doesn't it.

Wait, they're putting them in the caves now? Are they actually CALLING them IG-88?

IG-88, for those that haven't read some of the background, was produced under an Imperial effort called Project Phlutdroid. They were based on the semi-common IG-72s. Only 4 were made, one of which sorta became self aware before it was supposed to and killed the team. All were destroyed eventually.

Now granted, that's EU and not exactly canon, but you'd think the developers would try to respect that a little. Of course, given their attitude towards droids in general...

IG-88 was prominent in Jedi Knight the game by Lucas Arts, only one of him.

As for the Droid Cave on Lok,yes, populated heavily by both IG-88s and Droidekas. They are butt-ugly as far as droids go.

He is probably so ugly because his head is recycled prop from a cantina episode IV, Its a drink dispenser.

Can I also point out that the only reason Droidekas are cool is because of CGI. The new movie droids look way cooler than the original because they can. something to remember when considering canon.

Give it time, Lucas will probably eventually reedit all R2 and C-3PO scenes to make them more leet.

Personally, i like IG-88. But thats just me

My question is how does a droideka become wild? Is there a droideka conservation group that releases them?

IG-88 wasn't in any Jedi Knight game. The Droid your thinking of is 8T88.

And I don't care about new F/X or not I just want something that wont get takeing out by Corillian Dust Bunnies.
