yes, they have been in caves for a while now. and they aren't called IG-88. they are called IG Assassin droids. also, as far as I know, "tales of the bounty hunters" is pretty canon. that's where IG-88 (a-d, respectively) comes from. you see him in ESB when Vader is talking to the BH's on his star destroyer about hunting down Han and Leia. He's next to Boba Fett.

He's a very Very formidable droid. his arsenal would make any DE who digs combat Droids drool. Concussion grenades, Magseal armor, this droid is all function. If you don't like the way he looks, I'm at a loss for words. I think droidekas are too "cartoony" and Lucas should have never abandoned the muppet for that CGI crap.

Hey......IG-88 was made to be functional. Would you have something that "looks" pretty and couldnt kill a meatlump.........or a monstrosity of a droid made for one thing, Killing. Plus it does it very efficiently.

All i am sayin is that "if" there were an IG series for everyone, i would rather have that then a friggin protocol droid with a blaster. Aye the Droidekas look way cool and i am screamin for them too......but IG-88 was just to badass to not one like him.

Ok, IG-assassin Droids, Droidekas, and Roger Rogers (they might not be uber but I think they'd be a BLast to have even when shot up)

There's one big reason to create a humanoid droid and that is to use human tools. A probot or DZ70, no matter how tough they are, couldn't fire a blaster or fly a ship. Anything that was designed with the human form in mind would be useable by a humanoid droid. So for the ultimate in versatility a humanoid droid would be the best.
