Thread: Proposal to get the Dev's to respond to us Campaign!??

You know I am thinking we all need to go out on the main board and support the posts out there that are related to DE in general.

I also propose that every day just one of use posts a main problem with the Profession and have the other respond to it. The more DE information we put on the main boards the more informed the community will be and the likely hood that a Dev will respond to some of our issues.

I am just trying to start up something that will hopefully get us known out there. I am getting tired of not being heard and just think this might be a good idea to help us all out!

Tell me what you think.

I fully agree. We need to have something like Gorantoth's centralized droid issues placed on the SWG discussion board so that we can all voice off there.

Gorantoth's post is a great example but we need to use only one of his points a day. To blow it all in one post will not help our cause because then we won't be able to keep posting on the main boards with insightful information.

What do the rest of you fellow DE's think?

I think we'd all get a response sooner if we tried to send an email to our dishwasher.

Seriously...

If they wanted to talk to us about our plight, they'd have done it by now.

All of these calls for petitions or campaigns for communication are all well and good (and valid) but I'm afraid that it's all for naught. About as useless as shaving a bowling ball.

If you wanna be a DE, just resign yourself to the fact that you will be playing a horribly broken profession for at least two month (which is my estimate) but it could be longer.

PostG's list in every single board every day for the next month. Every profession, every Galaxy, all of them. Some one out there will have to see it and eventually people will comment on it. We need to gain support not just from ourselves, but from the rest of the SWG community.

This won't help.

There was a DE 'uprising' about 3 weeks ago on the forums. It was the loudest, fastest outcry I ever saw on our profession since release.

I got a 48-hour ban.

I understand your directive...it just won't help. Trolling and/orspammingG's post won't get us any higher on the list of priorities for the Devs.

Believe it.

Thats why i wouldn't recommend spamming his thread. What I propose is that we take just ONE issue off that list and make a post on the main board. Make it worded so that it can have a healthy discussion to go with it. Then the next day do the same thing with a different topic.

Sooner or later the main board will have so much droid discussion going on that there will be no choice but to respond to at least one of the issues.

I get the feeling you have given up entirely TheRealTK421 and I can understand why since by looking at your Sig you have been doing this since Beta 3. =) Let some of the young blood take the reigns for a bit and see what we can do with it. But, please don't give off bad vibes of hoplessness to the rest of us because the past has given different results.

Barnif,

The tone of my post kind of belies my actual thoughts on our profession.

In Beta, I was a TKA Bothan.

(note: for those playing the SWG home game, do NOT choose Bothan for a TKA character.)

I now have a DE in training (4/3/0/4) with my release toon.

I'venot given up nor am I discouraged. I happen to think that sticking it out will be a good thing in the long run, since we will likely get our 'day in the sun'. I actually chose DE not as a way to run a business or whatever. I did it because I didn't want to have to buy droids. That's it.

Can you believe that?!?!

I try to give others a realistic appraisal of the road they will be walking down by choosing this path. It's a long one, indeed. Confuscious said, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.". Well, the path DEs walk is about 50 parsecs long (a LOT longer than a 1000 miles, folks).

If you really want DE as a profession choice, I'm 187% behind you. Just be prepared to walk a difficult, frustrating and (sometimes) lonely road.

TheRealTK421,

I am going to be sticking out DE for the long haul there is no doubt about that in my mind. I am just seeing a lot of discouraged DE's out there and I am finally wanting to come out in the open and offer my support. I have had this game for 2months now and have just been an observer of the boards and I really want to be apart of this community now because I see that there is a need for it.

Barnif,

Your 'brotherhood' is eagerly accepted.

It's all part of being assimilated into the ranks of the cynical, pessimistic and jaded.

Don't worry....you'll be "with" the rest of us soon.

But seriously...

I think that G's post, and Sintrosi's excellent and untiring advocacy and forthrightness, are all we really need right now.

At this point, our future really is entirely in the hands of the Devs.

I read what you are saying. However, I do think that if we were able to get a large enough number to respond or post everyday weMIGHT be heard sooner. I would rather Sintrosi confirm or deny an action.

Honestly, now that the Correspondents Forum is up I don't think *any* professions are going to get devs stopping by much any more. What we get will be filtered through there. From what Sintrosi has posted our dev *has* seen our issues list so I don't think there's anything to gain by posting it elsewhere. And it sounds like our dev is busy working on mounts which aren't due until next month so I don't think we're going to see much of anything until after that.

Not trying to sound like a fanboi or apologist, just a realist. I think it sucks as much as everyone else. Perhaps the problem isn't so much that they're just ignoring us as it is that our dev is stretched to thin and he/she is busy working on their biggest priority right now.

Sure some sort of recognition would be nice, but I get the impression that all they'd have to say is, "Sorry, we know you're broken, and we're trying to figure out how to fix it after we finish this other stuff in a month or two."

So should we petition for a new dev since it sounds like he/she has been reassigned? Help for our current dev? More hours in the day? Send a case of Mountain Dew to our dev? =)
