Thread: Our DEV
Some more information on our DEV. He is also the Artisan and Armorsmith DEV. He is currently working on Mounts from what I understand. Once the majority of work is done there I am imagining his attention will be turning toward us since I think anyone would agree we are more broken than Artisan or Armorsmith.
Just some FYI so you can keep an eye on things and not wonder why some other professions are being fixed instead of us. If you see Artisan or Armorsmith getting love before us then start screaming
(But very loud because you'll have to drown out my screams.)
On a side note: We are lucky in one respect .. allot of the professions are sharing 4 or 5 other professions with a DEV.
Now these are designers, not neccesarily the actual developers although I am not exactly sure.
Mounts have always been a bit of a grey area for the Dev team. Technically animal and vehicle mounts are both classed as mounts. It wasn't until just after release that they were broken down to two teams. Our Dev might be working on the vehicle kind. For all we know the saddles that animal mounts will use will have to be crafted by artisans..... I can hear the howls from the CH's about having to depend on another profession to do somthing ![]()
However when our Devs gets freed up I can't see any reason why he's prioritized either Artisan or Armoursmith above us. Artisan is pretty much bug free. Armoursmiths might need a little tinkering but that's primarily formula that need to be rewritten. And as Sin said, the other professions have a Dev spread out over 4 or 5 professions while ours is only spread over 3.
Good things:
1. Our Dev is only responsible for Armorsmiths and Artisans as well.
Bad things:
1. Unless the aforementioned arrangement was made so very recently, our Dev has given our profession very little attention since the game came out, even though he only had two others to work on.
2. Our Dev is now regulated towards working on a Creature Handler perk.
Sintrosi,
Thanks for the head's up. Any and all information that we get is a good thing.
Do you think you could get our Dev's top 5 things to address? He doesn't have to give details but I'd think it would be good for us (the DE community) to be able to start to constructively put together 'pre-feedback' for him/her when they start to dig in.
....just a thought.

Respectfully,
That would explain the large amount of Armorsmith fixes in the patch notes for the upcomming big patch. Looks like once they are at a point where they get some decent attention, we'll be next.
Thanks for the info as always Sintrosi!
I like the Fact that the DE dev is also the artisan dev. I dont know adout all of you but most DE's I talk to are Master Artisans too. so the dev is still kinda giveing some of us love evin if it is in the artisan department.

Wait a second here. We know that armorsmiths have gotten lots of fixes and enhancements to their already very viable and working profession in the last big patch notes. What does that mean? It means armorsmiths are viewed as more important than DE's by the Dev team because otherwise DE's would have gotten some fixes, content, updates, etc. instead of armorsmiths. Why is this? 1) Because there are more armorsmiths than DE's (I guarantee it), and 2) armorsmithing is part of combat so benefits all combat classes.
So here has been the priority list for our dev over the past 3 months:
1. Fix many general crafting bugs, like the many griefing factory bugs, practice mode, non-modal progress bars when putting in ingredients to schematics, fixing experimentation for many items.
2. Fix some egregious droid bugs where almost none of our modules worked. Nerf most of the modules and do the permadeath/non-permadeath flip flop to kill off some pre nerf probots.
3. Fix more factory bugs.
4. Make armorsmith better even though they already work to a large degree (yes, I know they had some bugs because I am a novice armorsmith myself, but not nearly as bad as DE).
5. Work on creature mounts. (Even though this has NOTHING to do with crafting, they promised people they would have it and the #1 profession is CH in this game, as they published recently, so All Hands on Deck to make CH's more happy).
6. Try to fix bugged implementation of coloring droids, which was implemented in beta but never debugged so they took it out. Fixed it half way so far on test center, but they obviously did not even test it before putting it on test center because for most droids the _color disappears after storing it_. They should have tested that before it went into test center even! I'm a developer and that is silly not to test a feature you just put in.
7. Add new droids and more useful modules for droids.
Sintrosi, I know the Devs are doing their best and just taking orders from the managers who want to please the most people they can (CH's, BH's, Pistoleers, etc.), but seeing their priorities clearly in hindsight doesn't give me hope for DE's for many months to come. You have said as much in recent posts.
What are you talking about? Mounts and vehicles were always two seperate things. The only time I've ever seen vehicles refered to as mounts is in your post. And I've been on the boards for a long time. Heck we knew before release that mounts and vehicles were probably not coming out at the same time.

I've got an idea that will solve everything!
DE will craft all Creature Mounts!!!
The Saddle Droid!!!
But seriously, maybe we could craft some component needed for it. Not that I want to make money off of, yet another Droid component (ie Droid Storage Compartments, always fun and exiting selling these), just to annoy the majority of CH. J/k.
It is pretty sad that Armorsmiths are getting looked at first just because there's more of them. You think Dev's would realise WHY there's more of them....o well. Maybe right after creature mounts...our dev will start talking to us. Hopefully....
If you ask me, what they should do for mounts is provide two means for their customization:
1 - Allow for mounts to be created with bio-engineered tissue. (For BEs.)
2 - Allow for CH-Tamed mounts to be modified by cybernetic implants, that DE's provide.
As a CH, I would welcome both aspects as enhancements to mounts, and I for sure WANT Tailors to be able to craft the tack/harness required to control them.
