I am a master droid engineer on gorath. I have become really bored of DE so i started a new character on valcyn. I see a master droid engineer walk in to the cantina, and i ask him for a mouse with food chem crafting station. Because i was a newbie medic that started 1 day previous to me asking him I offered 1k credits. He then asked for 5k. !!! 5k? for a mouse with one module. I would never sell a mouse for that expensive, even fully loaded. I even give them away for free if i wasnt too lazy to make them

Anyway, I could be wrong. I havnt sold a mouse droid since i was a novice droid engineer. Has inflation really gone up that much?

The droid engineer I visit charges 5K for any crafting station module, that's probably why he's asking that much for a mouse droid.

It's not just the chassis you're paying for.

Be careful jumping from one server to the next and expecting prices to be the same across the board. Economics vary greatly from server to server. And as a DE, you of all people should apprecitate the work and frustration that goes into making a living as a DE. 5K for one of the most useful items we can make, while more than I would charge, is not outrageous.

5k is pretty reasonable. Remember, in order to make that droid the Droid Enginer (in theory) needs to spend ATLEAST 1k on each resource type .. be it bazaar prices or maintenance/enger for a harvester.. you still have to make a profit on the **edit** things.

Personaly, I hate people with ALT characters that are dabling in many different professions across galaxies .. they see someonecharging X amount for an item, compare it to their own values and slate the other crafter.

I would ask at least 5k for a mouse with a crafting station in it. Basically you want to get full functionalty very cheep for a droid that does not decay. How does selling you this droid very cheep assist the master droid engineer? Once you have that droid chances are you will never need another one again so to sell that cheep they basically lose a customer.

Basically when I get people asking me to trick out mouse droids I take it as a slap in the face and charge acordingly. Basically you are telling them I want some of the best things you can make but I want it super cheep so I won't buy one of the more complicated droids.

Yeah Im a jerk, I would charge at least 5k on bloodfin for it. Some could argue that anyone who thinks 5k is a ripoff could be considered cheap, considering the ease of earning credits in the game.

You asked him for a private crafting station that will basically last forever....

As a droid engineer yourself you really should understand better why the price he asked was fair.

ditto, i charge 4500, whatever same amount really...it doesnt deprieciate and it took me a lot of time to get the ability to make all crafting stations, did you forget the cost of resources and time to get to that level as a MDE?

I think I'm going to institute a policy for my droid making that I won't put a module or station in a droid that is lower on the skill tree than the module or station in question. If it takes the 2nd box in one tree to make the module, then i won't put it in any droid available below the 2nd box in blueprints. That will end the "tricked out mouse droid" issue for me.

If someone comes to me with a good roleplaying reason why they want a module in a lower-end droid, AND they are willing to pay my asking price for it, then I would consider it.

Good luck explaining why you won't let your surgical droids have a 110 MCR without stacking level 4's =/

I would do an advanced MSE with a level IV medical module and crafting station for 1,500. My resources cost under 1 cr a unit to get via large harvesters so it's not that big of a deal.

Also it would take me about 2 mins to make and I might get a returning customer on it. Now if someone wants Lvl 6 modules those are 2K a piece so a MSE with lvl 6 would be 3,500.

Me, personally, I love droid engineers who undercharge. "Sure, I'll make you a MSE droid with a L6 med unit for only 1500 creds" means one more droid engineer who will very shortly be suffering from crafting burnout...

Crafting in this game has a really high burnout rate. I've known a dozen crafters, at least, who've hit master, made their product for a couple weeks, and then closed up shop (and in many cases, moved to another game due to the lack of interesting content and meaningful pvp). To really stay in the game you need to contantly make your process more and more efficient (ultimately doing 100-droid factory runs of standard models) or charge ridiculously high prices for the occasional custom made droid. Otherwise you're looking at a month long career as a DE, tops. Or any artisan profession, come to think of it.

Hmm...Well, guess I'm the jerk who wanted 5k on the Valcyn server...Yes everyone, that is me...

I even explained to this guy, before I knew that he was a Master DE on another server, my reasons for charging 5k for such a droid.,..Which was pretty much what you all said...

* This is a portable crafting station

* This droid will last forever

No, it didn't matter to me the resources it costed for the droid...The fact that its a portable crafting station means more than the resources...

As a Master DE I would expect you to understand my pricing...

Because of this, I am not making mouse droids anymore...I'm sick of this...I will leave it to the Novice DE's to have all of the mouse fun...I am Master and am beyond this now...
