Thread: Need some help Why be a DE anymore???

I know there have been a number of threads of people giving up, etc. For me, I just want to know why I should even be a DE anymore. I love it, don't get me wrong. Droids and building droids are the coolest in this game (IMHO). But I really get discouraged about the profession and why I should even be playing this game anymore. I really could care less about what SOE thinks about me leaving. One crafter leaving is one less thorn in their side. They obviously don't really care about crafting in general....DE included. /rant complete

They do care...that's not it.

The deal is that the whole thing is just too large. It's not like they can please literally every player out there in one shot (regardless of profession, playstyle or preference).

I'm sure they will continue to hear the cries (and have already been getting info on the issues....in spades). Once the next few nutty weeks pass, I suspect things might calm down some.

In the meantime, it's possible we all might see new droid buyers in our shops.

Well...............................................a Wookiee can hope, 'eh?

What I need is someone to tell me why I need to continue being a DE. I've only been playing the game 3 months now and think this is the greatest game. My wife hates me for buying it. I've created spreadsheets and have gone through multiple notepads. I love learning what new resources spawn and what I can build with them.I just want to know why I should keep my account and continue to be a DE. What's the incentive (aside from the general crafting passion)? I know no one can answer this one, but what's the future? I just need a little DE community help (even if you're a competitor on bria!) on why I should continue to play this game when history shows we are the redheaded stepchild.

If any of the devs actually look at this - can you please clue us in to what should make a person even want to be a crafter? If SOE's objective is to phase these professions out, then just get rid of crafting altogether...not this slow agonizing death.

Keep your Combat Droid prices highand don't sell your goodstoo cheaply. Droids are tough in this Brave New World, certainly more useful than Pets right now. Pet healing rates are awesome, after an Incapacitation Recovery they can be fully healed in under a minute.

Price wise see if you can push 80k-100k for a good Advanced Probot. More if you can build an excellent one. Most importantly, there's still no repeat business so keep those prices high!

Droid combat levels match the highest in the group regardless of their own, so if the toughest in the group is lower than combat level 18 don't bother grouping. If the highest in the group is over 18 invite that Droid to join you!

Tanking doesn't quite work like it used to, Mobs go after the character dishing out the most damage, so concentrate on Combat Rating rather than health to make them useful in drawing away attacks from lower level characters.

This would all be great if our Droid HAMs were not cut in half of what they used to be and droid armor still worked. I purposely didn't make a ton of droids before the CU, because the CU ones were suppossed to be better, then the CU comes and they are half as good.

Don't get too hung up on the lower Health values. The super-fast health recharge rate more than compensates for the small drop IMHO. 3000 Health recovered in under a minute? That's awesome, and it can be boosted with auto-repair units.

Damage dealt by Mobs is different too, so thenew Health values aren't reallythat comparable to the old values.

One thing I have noticed though is a lot of Mobs Health is lower than it used to be. With the droid damage values remaining quite high, they're dishing out the pain quite nicely.

All in all I think combat capable Droids are more useful and effective than they were, especially to me.

I don't know how it is on your server, but on Sunrunner there has been an explosion of BH's. On Wednesday I had over 100 crates of seekers and about 80 crates of arakyds, Ihave started more GP and Mem modules to restock my vendors, as I am getting close to being sold out. I know at least 1 other DE that quit the profession, leaving alot more for the remaining DE's to do. Plus another DE that never plays anymore. BH missions (non-jedi) have increased in payouts by about 50%. So the reason to stay DE, is to make a killing on BH droids. Due to a decrease in suppy and an increase in demand, I'm going to raise my prices slightly.

Going from 4500 to 2500 isn't a small drop. Plus Auto Repair isn't doing anything for you.

It's not a matter of being hung up on anything. Why should I use my limited 1000 OQ chemical to make droids that if this is a bug means they will be obsolete next week?

Once I find out if this will change or not, I will make a manufacturing decision.

I'm convinced that they care, but about the wrong things. SOE Execs and upper management are a little out of touch, I would think. I don't think they have a clue about what their customers really want.

They will continue to hear the cries, because there are cries for all the things broke in this game. Things that have been broke for months, but go unfixed.

I would prefer fixes for things that have been broke for months vs an upgrade/expansion that introduces more bugs. I won't quit because of the CU, but this broke A$$ game will drive me away.

Same thing happened on my server. I sold over 100 Seekers and Arakyds in two days! A big time DE just left as well meaning more business. I may raise the prices by a few K since it looks like i will be eating and breathnig BH droids for a while to come.

odd, on scylla the CU basically drained out all the 1337-ubar d00dz, which made up a huge chunk of the server population, and I agree its weird seeing Theed cantina containing 1 AFK buffbot and myself wondering where everyone else is.
