Droid Engineer Archive
Thread: DE aint great
I bust my ass for 2 weeks going from novice artisan starting out in the game to novice droid engineer.
What an incredibly boring expeerience.
This game has no depth; sorry thats how I feel. All you do is either:
1. take a package from a to b (slow and tedious), get paid a tiny amount.
2. shoot some monstes/baddies.
3. sell things youve made (if you are smart enough to pick a class that affords the ability to build useful things).
As a novice DE i get the ability to build a tiny lump of crap that does nothing of any use. If i want to progress up the tree (and one can only hope that these droids do become useful) I need a ton of resources which will cost me a small forunte so more stupid missions. yawn. same old same old. 48000 droid exp to get to even level 1 in any single tier! this will take a lifetime of watching the screen and clicking the resources.
I dont mind doing the work (how do you think i got this far?), but this is taking the proverbial! Artisn and its associated professions are a joke. This game revolves around combat simplyu beause its the greatest payoff in the game but even that is dull (its just a pet-fest). artisans get nothing for their efforts and have to pay to continue building. what do they get in return, a bunch of crappy useless schematics for items no one wants, and now as a novice droid engineer all i can build is a single mouse droid with a choice of nothing to progeam it with? Wow im sure they wil fly off the shelves!
To be honest, i am finding it very very difficult to find the incentive to struggle further up this ladder. I wish i had never botherd with artisan to begin with (the manual said it led to smuggler but thats obviously been changed - great!) because its a joke. there have got to be better ways to spend my time than pretending that i have a useful role in a galaxy far far away when the reailty is that i dont, and i doubt droid engineer is going to change before my free month runs out.
Wow. I thought this was going to be another upbeat post that we have been seeing around lately. As for signoftheserpent, that is why you can drop your proffession, learn a new one. I am sorry you feel that way, I disagree I think the crafting side of SWG is reallly interesting, using different Quality resources will make a finished product more powerfull than a lower quality resource. Some times those specific resource does not spawn, or it has bad quality.
It sounds like it is just not for you. and this I say good bye

I think what you meant was :
"if this is how you feel wait till you get to *master DE* and you get the ability to build a Big lump of crap that does nothing of any use! "
Afterall, the BLL is just areally bigMSE droid that doesn't beep. Let's hope that the combat modules turns the BLL into something cool and nifty keen.
Id rather drop the game than grind another 20 odd k worth of crafting xp to get something like weaponsmith.
This profession is costing me a fortune for no profit and the developers need to change this if they want people to take it seriously. Sure you can use the harvesters and generators you can build to get the crafting xp, but they dont work properly either. I logged on today to find all 4 of my harvesters were now broken to the point i cannot afford to fix them. there was no reason for this, the ones that werent working were swwitched off while the others were fully paid up. Ive sold excess resources before, but given that everyone else does the same thing you have to sell at such a low price that its not worth it (or leave them on there for weeks).
Setting up factories might be all well and good, but i am skint from having lerned noivce DE and getting the reosources to grind to that level. I really do NOT want to go through that all over again. PLus I have had enough of the crafting missions (or indeed any other) in order to raise the cash to continue this absurd process.
All for just a game! arg!
