Just curious how many people see themselves enabling this...
I'm still unsure if I want to do this or not. Perhaps I'll give it a go for a few weeks, just to see what happens.
Note: My personal feeling on this feature is that it's going to have a negative impact on the economy and may well drive a lot of great crafters/merchants from their profession (or the game altogether).

I'll turn it on for sure, the only ones who will suffer from this feature are the vendors which used to sell at unfair prices

Now that they removed the remote purchasing option I will turn it on. I still think it's a good idea with terrible execution, but it seems we have to live with it.

I guess my issue is that development time was spent on something that (honestly) didn't need it.
The folks that said things were too hard to find in game, more often than not, simply weren't spending any time to....*gasp*....actually search them out.
If they searched a bit, and didn't find anything, I wonder how many actually sought out the help of a particular crafter to get them to make what they needed.
Basically, I feel like a lot of the combat-only folks basically pitched a fit over wanting near-instant gratification for finding items (which probably will still be hard to find after the change).
/shrug
I do hope it turns out well...I guess just foresee a few ways that it could cause some problems and headaches (more for crafters/merchants than for clients).

Here's another problem with the new system....

I'll turn it on only because I feel it is necessary just to compete, I feel my hand has been "forced" in the matter. When you are looking for something, you look in the phonebook, or Dex-online........this is the same.......if your not "in the phone book", you're gonna lose buisness.

I'm pretty much forced to turn it on, I need to pay the bills and support my toons, can't do that without sales.
Seeing crates of Probes and Seekers going for 2k is really going to annoy me though. I'll be forced to drop from 5k which is already low, just to get people to my shop.
I'll be dropping my merchant as well, the Barker was already next to worthless though with the storing on travel anyway.

Like the other said, I have no choice in the matter. I have to turn that option on.
Horribly implemented, SOE! This is not balanced!

Define "unfair". I see you're on Infinity. Are you a Droid Engineer? If you are, trust me, you don't want me to register my vendors on a global search system with prices because you will get hurt. There will always be someone willing to sell cheaper than you. In my case you have nothing to worry about because I have no desire to hurt other Droid Engineers. There's plenty of business to go around. But be careful branding around words like "unfair". You don't have the right to make that determination.

I'll be enabling the vendor search mode. Since I'm not "just" a DE, I think it could have some positive effects for my sales due to the fact that I carry a wide variety of goods andhave made a small name for myself on my server
I'm more of the "wait and see" type, so I'll give it a shot. Heck, it can't really hurt me, since i'm located pretty far outside any major city.

Going to leave it off for my vendor since I use it almost exclusively for custom order pickup anyway.

I wish that were true. There are people that are DE's, but they don't make their living off being a DE. If DE were taken from the game right now, they wouldn't see a drop in their bank account. For most they'd actually have more money, now that someone took away their hobby. These are the people that will hurt the economy. Now everyone will be able to find and buy from the casual crafter that makes thier real money from adventureing.
It used to be if you were a casual crafter you wouldn't hurt the dedicated ones that much. People would go to the casual crafter's vendor and find it empty, and so stop going. If you always had a full vendor, that was the best way to get repeat business. Now the casual crafter with the venodr that's usually empty, but when they do have something in there, the price is less than what it takes to craft have as big a market share as the dedicated ones.

The problem is that some people have a mindset of "as long as I pay my bills," my business is going good. These people just have fun selling and don't care about making a profit. They sell for very low because they have no need for the money, a real life business like this would be a charity.
Then you have people who actually live off their Droid sale income. They may buy armor, weapons, AV-21's, or whatever. For these things, they may need to compete in auctions against combatents and other crafters.
Do I make money selling a combat droid for 80k? Yes. It it "unfair?" Not as long as people are willing to happily pay it. I have never had a complaint about my prices.
The problem with the new system is that it puts both types of crafters into the same arena. The "charity" crafter doesn't care about money, so he may not advertise much, he may not offer a wide selection, he may deal with just special orders. On the other hand, the "money making" crafter, advertises a lot, keeps a stocked vendor, offers a wide selection.
Now even though the "money making vendor" puts more time and effort into his business, he is compared side by side with the charity vendor who has no need for cash.
