Yea yea, I know all of us don't always agree, but I do consider you all my friends, even with all my toons, I post here way way more then other boards.
Well anyways, I just wanted to talk about a little of what I have been spending my time doing lately in game, getting my Jedi. This has been something that I have wanted for a very long time, yet I spent so much time with Droids, I never really took it seriously. However, lately it has become more of a focus for me, the game seems to be moving to be more combat oriented and I am not crazy about some recent changes, so I have startedto craft less and work on getting my Jedi more.
Tonight I finished my Force Sensitive grind.
I have to say that it was an abhorant way to spend my time, extremely repetitive and boring, yes even worse then spending 40 hours a week making droids. I have a lot more respect now for what it takes to get a Jedi. I also know that after getting the Jedi, it is much more of a time sink.
Here is what it took me time andmoney wise to get it. First let me say that I took the "quick" way, to do it, I used grenades to get combat XP, vice regular fighting or other methods. This way is about 2 or 3 times faster then other ways, which is scary.
XP: You need 6 FS columns. Each Column takes 1225000 FS xp. Combat xp converts at 3:1, so that is 3,775,000 combat xp a branch, now times that times 6.
So total 22,650,000 Combat XP is needed.
Time: This involves running missions and making the trip to the village and back to cash in the FS xp. 4 Lairs with grenades would max my Combat xp if I did it right, this will get you 100k FS xp. I found that depending on mission distances and other spawns near the lairs, my 4 lairs plus the trip to the village took about 45 minutes. However, getting a Solo group, curing BF (grenades hurt you as well and pack in the BF, and getting buffs,) end up making it be about an hour a trip.22,650,000 / 300,000 = 75.5 This means 75.5 trips to the village.
At 1 hour a trip, that is 75 hours of actual grinding. Did I mention it is ungodly boring?
Armor: Grenades injure yourself, and mess your armor up a lot. I used 3 suits of armor totally into the ground, had a couple of bad repairs which didn't help. At the end, I used ADKs on my big pieces, I wasn't going to use a fourth. I tried using crappy armor, but way to many Nightsisters outthere use Stun batons.
3 x 200,000 = 600,000 credits worth of armor.
Grenades: I am 4000 Commando, so I use Thermal Grenades, which do the most damage and I don't miss much.Thermals got for about 150k - 200k per crate. It takes about 6 stacks of Grenadesper lair, so with 4 lairs, that is 24 stacks, so about 1 crate per trip. 75 trips. I made my own grenade powerups, or those would cost as well.
75 x 175,000 (average price of grenades) = 13,125,000
Other: I have my own dancer and doc, so I didn't spend anything for buffs and such, so that was good. I did make some money off missions, but you need to be in a solo group to get the level 99 missions needed, so I got maybe 2k per mission. This certainly balanced out with the 9 speeders I lost doing it, plus the cost of my foods and stuff.
Summary: So it took 75 hours of grinding, plus a total of 13,725,000 credits. This isn't to master Jedi, this is to just get to be one. No other profession comes even close to this amount of time or money to master. This isn't even mastering. Did I mention it is ungodly boring?
You can do it slower and spend less money, this was the quickest way, which costs the most though.
From what I understand, actual Jedi is a lot longer and worse. Pearls and Crystals are a major money sink as well. I don't know about that yet, so I don't know. What I do know is the grind to get there.
I vastly underestimated the amount of effort and resources it takes, I thought some of you may find it decent information.
/goes to lie down.

You've got more than one ADK. Use one on your Lightsaber and it will save you a bundle on crystals/pearls. Then it's just a matter of finding some decent ones....and to be honest, finding at least one decent one isn't that hard.

Yea, I have a few ADK's. A couple are on uber weapons, a couple on my soon to be scrapped armor. I am saving those for sabers. May end up breaking down and spending the 14 million for another one. Depends how the crystals go, don't want to have to buy those. I know people who have gone through over 30 pearls / crystals just to get some "decent" ones. Probably going to grind up my combat alt and go Krayt Hunting, rather then spending 5 mill a Pearl.

If you were on Ahazi, I'd be sure to make some 59DP detonation R3s with your name on them to give away to selected BHs.
Seriously, though, I just use FS to have even higher crafting mods. I think the whole Jedi population thing sucks in SWG.

Hey Straker, I've contemplated checking out Jedi, but I dunno.
I have heard tho that, once you're character goes force sensitive, you lose all of your skills cuz you have to devote all your points to Jedi. Meaning, if I go Jedi, I can't be DE, CH, and Pistoleer anymore. Is this true? Because, I dunno if I really want Marr'Taan to go Jedi, but if I could just open up a force sensitive slot, and get that 2nd character on my server, I could make a new character, be on the server where all my friends are, and maybe pursue Jedi with that character. But if I have to give up what I've worked for on Marr'Taan for that, then it's not worth it. It'd be a shame not to do it tho, after all, it sounds like you have just an amazing amount of fun doing it!!!

I think becoming Jedi Knight takes all your skill points. I considered getting padawan too (just to get my 2nd toon slot), but the task look so daunting...

Congrats on getting there.
And still being able to tell people about it
75 hours of total grind, gruesome, I think I'll stick with my dabbling in the FS trees
Well done again.

Part of the "daunting" part is if you want it "now." Personally, I'm in the boat of "padawanwill happen eventually" ...I will continue playing the game as I normally would and make village trips when nessecery to empty out experience.

lol, I went recently to dump off xp at the village, and apparently the current phase had a bunch of aggro sith dudes running around. Made it impossible for me to make the deposit.
