Thread: CU info is up!
CU info
- Forget what you think you know about SWG combat (now vs. post-CU)
- Throw away expectations and view the information objectively
- Pretend SWG hadn't launched yet and try to grasp out the new CU combat systems will be really slick
- Re-read this list from the top
I have to say that it was a great honor to be a part of the 'team' that helped to add 2 credits (and more) in on the CU and think that the development team has a pretty strong grasp of what the players really want.

Respectfully,
After reading the doc all i can say for now: "I want to test this Stuff!" ![]()
Any sign of a slightNDA lift for you guys? ![]()
I resigned myself long ago to realizing that it really was going to be the "Great Nerf" in the eyes of many, but anyone who is even the slightest bit objective has known it's what the game needs.
Combat sounds much more fun. I've never enjoyed combat for more than an hour or so at a time because I just found it so boring. Either you kill something with ease, or you get killed relatively instantly. Usually it was the former, where you can solo a rancor in a few shots with the right equipment but a tusken king needs a small army. It was one extreme or the other.
I really can't say I see anything I really disagree with in the proposal. The only change that personally will hurt is the upping of requirements for Rifleman - now it's eight boxes instead of just four (Rifles plus Ranged Support). However, that's a small price to swallow if it means that people won't be running around with three combat professions anymore. This further limits crafter/combat combos, but it's for the greater good.
I'm also excited about the interactivity of Kashyyk announced seperately today. In concert with the LOS fixes and other movement-based changes in the CU, it seems as if they are going to increase interaction with the enviornment. That's really important in SWG, as there has always been this odd space between the elegant slash command interface and the beautiful visuals that has seemed hollow that it seems this new system will help build.
I'm very interested in hearing how CH is going to fit in to all of this, as we can expect the eventual combat droids to be of similar levels (as CH goes so generally goes our combat nation).

I wouldn't look at is as being penalized. They just don't get the benefits of a combat professional. The glass is half full, not half empty...

Can you be a little more descriptive? What makes you hate it?
Not picking on you, genuinely curious, that's all.

Nell, why is that, we have had many discussions on the GCW forums, in which you said that you hoped things would be balanced after the CU.
This is what you are looking for. No uber templates to kill you, all balanced. Professions will be balanced but equal.
Also keep in mind that thre is still more information coming, you don't have all the info yet.
