Thread: I had a really great customer last night
During the course of speaking with him, I mentioned that my next-door neighbor is also selling droids, and at a lower price than I am. (Background: I was recruited to move to a player city, where the existing resident DE had just kind of vanished. A few days after I opened shop, they were back, and undercutting my prices.)
MAN, I was pleased when he said "That's OK, I've heard a lot about Droids by Rho". It felt really really good, and man, in this profession, we need all of that we can get.
What I'm saying, my brothers and sisters, is don't give up hope and don't despair, there are good folks out there who want to do business with you, if you'll do good business with them.
OK, now back to the regular carping about all the problems. Where's the Droid Invasion information?!?!?

I've heard complaints about how hologrinders ruin the market or how some go out of their way to undercut another persons pricing, but for me sales have always been about who has an item in stock and offers the best service. One thing that you will notice is that thetruely 'successful' are those that know their profession, help others to gain some of this knowledge, and offer the best product that they can.
Thanks Rho, for sharing a little bit of cheery information.
(Sorry, can't offer any info about the Droid Invasion. There is a lot going on behind the scenes right now in Austin, from what I gather. Take comfort in the fact that Publish 6 should be hitting TC today and the DEs did get some lovin..)

Yeah.... Show me the money. ![]()
I'll take the bait.
I'm your next door neighbor.
To set the record straight, I've been a master DE since August, no holo grinder here.
As for my pricing, I've am selling my droids at the same price I always have. Which if you compare our prices is only 1k less than you for a surgical, and I believe we have the same price on probots.
As for my disappearance, that can be looked at from many perspectives and mine is a bit different from your's and our city's mayor.
Finally, I am surprised that you made the choice to move in next door to a fellow DE, in a city which that DE has been established in for a very long time. As an aside that really doesn't mean anything, I probably built most, if not all of the walls that went into the construction of the city hall.
Now, I'm am accused of undercutting your prices. Objectively, I think it is I who should be accusing you of attempting to ruin my droid business in a city that I helped build. Again, a different perspective.
But, you know what? My problem isn't with you - you couldn't have knowwn the history. I would only suggest you probe a bit deeper before accusing someone of undercutting you.
Thanks for listening...

I just know what I was told when I was asked to move to town, and found it an amusing coincidence that suddenly the shop was active again... And no longer charging admission, and prices were JUST a bit lower than mine.
I've got nothing against you, and as far as placing my shop where I did, that wasn't up to me, it was up to Vexa.
I apologize for the term 'undercutting', I do not mean to impugn you.
Hehe I moved to a player city with a retired DE and my next door neighbour was in the process of grinding up to DE. I trained them pretty completely. LOL Luckily they just wanted to make droids as a hobby and not compete with me in that market. ![]()
On a different note, someone asked in our forums for a droid order... it ended up being 2 adv probots, adv protocol with clothing/armour and worshipful, protocol with worshipful, and protocol with sarcastic. I was first to post I'd take the order but needed some clarification on things (their order wasn't 100% clear at the start)... I talk to them in game and they said another DE offered to do the entire order for 50k but it'd take about a week to do. Gave them the option of going with me, or the other DE... they went with me LOL
Rho, I don't have any problems with you, really I don't. Do me a favor though, if you going to keep adding reasons to justify your choice of moving in next to me share all the details.
To clear up your last post, the the 1 credit access fee you mention, was done for the same reason most people do it - to get merchant xp in order to better advertise a business.
It's not like I was taking advantage of my customers as your message implies. As a matter of fact during that week and a half that my vendor wasn't stocked my house sign read, "Currently restocking, accepting custom orders only."
I believe you when you say that moving in next door was Vexa's decision. Although you did have the ability to say, "Umm.. Do you think that's a good idea?" You know what, maybe you said that and she told you that was all she had available - I don't know.

Hey fine, if those are your old prices, great.

In any case, I've decided to stop advertising my Shiloh location. It will be a place of convenience only, since there's already a DE right there. Besides, my shop near Coronet takes up enough of my time and generates enough business to suit my tastes.
My concern is now for the politics of the situation, and for the veracity of the people I dealt with when moving to town.

now i feel lucky to be the only de in the guild =). how is it even possible for you to have 2-3 in the guild? lol. so few of us already.
Well I am that lucky I am the only DE in my Guild(Family as I call it) as far as I know. I just made novice and have a ways to go, but once I am at MDE my guild will have fair prices and a DE that will stay a DE as long as the profession is around in game.
Days like that are to be marked on a calendar. I had a customer last night who was "commanded" in his words, to purchase his droid from me. Apparently 4 of my oldest customers are buddies of his and were going to beat him soundly if he didn't come to me first.
I smiled the whole time I crafted his droid, the first droid I've custom-crafted in weeks. ![]()
Cheers,
