Thread: Ideas for new modules and droid types.
How about a DECOY droid! Like a Seeker, single or multiple use, with a /takescent ability. It could be used in combat to attract MOBS, or even NPCs to a kill point.
It could be used by Miners to get the darned cats away from their Harvesters.
Binary Lift Loaders, Pick up deeds at half the cost or something.
Entertainment Module so Dancers and Musicians can heal in combat groups after players been deseased. This is real fustrating without a way of healing Mind wounds when you have massive black rot.
Harvester module, Power Generator Module only.
Survey Droid Module ( give waypoint to droid and let them go scan the area for you ) Risk of Jawa Attacks )
MedicalStim Pack useModule( Stim Pack use for Sugical droids Specificonly)
Assassin Module (MasterDE Level. combat droids, Give them a chance to Enrage with peircing attacks
How about a new kind of droid that people want, that we can craft all the way to deed form, that can be tamed, can be colored and the color is retained, all modules work correctly in it, and can be called.
Nahhh, I'm just a dreamer.

LOL
I was about to post the same sentiment..
Ah, the life of a dreamer, aka Droid Engineer
Well, I'm not gonna read the entire thread, so I don't know if this has been suggested, yet (and I'm sure it has), but here goes. My suggestion for a DE module is a factory module. Actually modules. It can get kind of annoying to have to run back to your factory to run off 3 of something identicalso you canmake one item,or running off 100 of everything and storing a billion factory crates in your house. If droids could make simple identical items, it would save players a ton of time. The droid's abilities to manufacture would be extremely limited, so they wouldn't compete with architect made factories. Basically, here's the limitations I see:the factorycould possiblytake up three modules (leaving one for a crafting station or medical module or whatever), the input hopper, the manufacturing mechanism, and the output hopper. The droid would be limited to manufacturing scematics with ten uses or less remaining. The input hopper would be limited to a small number (3-6), and the output hopper would be limited to 10, and it wouldn't put items in factory crates (makes items for immediate use, not intendedfor stockpiling), and one or more of the following limitations:
The droid can only make components, no final items.
The input hopper can only hold resources, no components or other items.
The schematics have to be below a certain complexity (below 10 or 15 maybe)
The schematics can only have a certain number of slots for resources (same number as the input hopper, 3-6)
After every manufacturing session the droid will require a battery before doing anything else (including retrieving the manufactured items)
My biggest issue with the whole droid concept right now is that the game is too attached to the idea that all droids need to be pets. Droids need to be given the ability to be detached from you and act on your behalf in a useful manner. Certainly some droid models -- ie combat related droids -- should act as pets. Others should be allowed to become "pets" of one of your structures to aid in maintainence or control of the structure without having to be physically present. In the star wars universe, droids should be handleing the day to day labor tasks that people don't want to do. The problem with this right now is that the game already handles many of these tasks in the interface skiping the use of droids. For example, it makes no sense that a person can putthe amount of resources in his backpack to build literally thousands of buildings. Then when a building is produced we get a little slip of paper the "deed" that says we own the building. When we use the deed, the building just magically gets assembled without any form of labor being required to bring the materials on site to assemble it. My thinking is that for at least large buildings, there should be a construction process involving lifting and building droids to complete assembly. These droids could be supplied by the architect or a third party player could open his own construction company and buy the droids and hire out to assemble deeds for people. I also feel that droids should reasonably be if not required, then encouraged to be purchased and placed in factories as the employees. Different industrial buildings could have slots added to them that would be filled by droids with labor or management modules to enhance the production of the factory.
I suppose I should digress for now. I don't suppose my ideas would be too popular with the populace at large in SWG as they would in most cases complicate processes which are already in place in the game mechanic.
How about a camp module... How often does your droid or pet stop following u? Then
your stuck!!! Does it really make sense that everyone can't use a basic camp kit!!
would still have to go there to manage it.
Flamethrower Module: Gives Combat droids a flamethrower attack with chance of causing "on fire!!" DoT
Acid Launcher Module: Gives Combat droids an acid launcher
Lightning Beam Module: Gives droids a lightning attack
Poison/Disease Delivery Modules: Enables droid to inflict poison/disease DoT's. (Requires Combat Medic's Poison/Disease Delivery Units)
Launcher Module: Gives Combat Droids a rocket Blast attack
Carbonfreeze Module: Gives Combat Droid a Cold damage attack
Battle Droid: As seen in Ep. 1 & 2
Super Battle Droid: As seen in Ep. 2
Droideka: Master DE combat droid, has a built-in personal shield generator. As seen in Ep. 1 & 2
RIC droid: Chariot droid that acts as a vehicle
Spider Droid: Large Master DE Combat Droid, has less module slots and lacks shield generator, but overall more HAM than Droideka and has higher defense bonuses (a "tank" droid)
Well I didn't have time to read most all but i did see one showing interest in a combat droid.
I would like to see all kinds of combat droids for droid engineer.
Enough with that.
One thing i havent seen so far in this message is that droid engineers should be able to have more than one droid out in the open.
We should be able when we have gotten our Master droid engineer status that we should be able to controll 3 robots of any kind any ability out in the open.
For examble having 3 medical droids that i gain more healing power with or something just an idea and an idea that should be made.
And btw for realistic game anyone should be able to control 1000s of robots with the right technology.
The maddening fun of controlling 1000’s of droids would be like living in Nirvana induced state. Alas with SWG having a PvP following it would never happen. Truly sad most of the fun we could have is crushed due to PvP guidelines.
I would sign up for the Survey Droid idea. Nothing complex just a planetary Droid that could survey the minerals etc and return with the list. It could be a one time use Droid and only able to get one specific type (minerals, gas, flora etc)
