Thread: To all the holocron DEs
Uh... Instead of pulling 40 missions to pay for 1 night of extractor maintenance, why dont you just skim off the top of your total extraction. What I do is this. I have 5 Medium Mineral Extractors chugging away on a good supply of Steel, and 4 Solar Generators Collecting the power for the extractors. With the daily haul from my harvestors, I take 75% of the total and store it in my basement for grind use. The other 25% is put into a seperate container to wait till it meets the 30-50k ammount mark. That is when I take that 25% barrel to the front of Coronet Starport to sell at 4 credits per unit. If I sell 50k of my steel at 4 credits per unit, thats 200k credits to pay for the maintenance on all 5 mineral extractors, all 4 solar generators, the maintenance on my house, AND I still have enough to buy a load of fiberplast to grind on and have at least 50-60k in my pocket.
I understand your plight... I really do, but you are not doing things the right way, and if you are trying to pay for all those extractors by doing delivery missions you are breaking your back for no good reason.
I am a Holocron DE, and I have to let you know... I am actually enjoying some of this DE stuff. I walk into my Medium Tat home and see my line of droid chassis standing there to greet me with a smile and a beep. It makes me very proud to realize that I made all of those. Having hit Master Droid Blueprints last night, I now have within my house every chassis that is craftable.
I have no problems whatsoever with paying for all of my needs. You just have to think things through and change your strategy to compensate. Get yourself some good Medium Extractors with a Base Extraction Rate of 10 and you are in business. They cost less to maintain and power than the Heavies, and at BER10, they have the same extraction rate of a base level Heavy Installation.

The thing is, when a lot of us started down the road to DE, that was not a viable option.
We started out with 250 credits, and a tool to craft with.
I remember when I got my first wind and 2 small harvestors running - I didn't start out with a large extractor, let alone an entire fleet of them.
When you start into this profession with the million cash or so you need to buy your harvestors so that you can sell resources, it is a completely different ball game.
What I did when I made novice was turn both extractors back to earning me cast to fund more extractors and generators. Just recently I was able to fund 2 BER 10s and a 4th solar gen. That has given me 5 extractors. 2 BER 10s, 1 BER 8, 1 BER 6, and 1 BER 4. I am going to be replacing the BER 6 and 4 with 10s or 8s when i get the chance.
I am used to the whole resource slinging game. I was a resource salesman in the past after I had given up on my Master Weaponsmith title. Weaponsmith was just not very rewarding, so i turned to resource sales. This funded me to start the grind to commando where I gave up selling resources. I gave up the resource biz because of my PA buddy Eno who runs Eno Naturals, a resource business in my old PA. I didnt want to compete with him, so i figured just give it to him.
Now, I have just taken my knowledge and applied it again to DE. I am doing well because of it. It takes time to build up to where I am now with my extractor base, but if you work at it, it happens quickly. I have gotten to where I am in about a weeks worth of work.
And these are the people that will be our Jedi and FSCs. Give them applause everyone, they know they deserve it.

I don't even do Artisan missions anymore. I do the ONLY thing outside of 3 classes in this game that can make money, I resell my resources. Grinding through DE, I didn't have the luxury of doing this. I calculated down to the credit exactly what I could afford to pay for maintenance, how many new harvesters I could purchase, and what other essentials I needed (housing maintenance, for instance). I started DE with 1k in the bank, 2k in cash, 4 crafting tools, and borrowed equipment to my name. Through the generosity of my fellow PA members, I was able to get started and grind through DE enough to provide back to the PA as many probots and other droids I could pump out as possible.
Right now, I average no less than 100k per day in resource sales. My average take-in for DE is about 50k PER WEEK. Meanwhile, armorsmiths average 175k PROFIT from one set of composite armor. Weaponsmiths make unholy amounts of cash off of weapon sales. CH's and Bio-Engineers were making upwards of 200k for a SINGLE kaadu mounted. Meanwhile, DE's can make a max profit of 30k on a single droiddue to the non-demand for droids. Why bother with a probot when you can walk right in with 3 graul maulers and take down a force drifter without breaking a sweat? Who needs a surgical droid out when a simple mouse droid (that costs 1/16 of the surgical droid) can do the EXACT same thing, and can hold storage mods, and can take a name.
This isn't directed solely at you, Salomon, but rather the group of holocron hunters that presume to come here and judge us after we've gone through so much strife since this game has started. We're the very last on a long list of broken classes to receive a bone, and that bone is still a ghostly bone that no one can chomp down on. I yearn for the day that I can take a crate of droidekas to Coronet, spam spatial, and sell droids for 100k+, and take in the kind of cash that the other crafting classes do. I yearn for the day that I can proudly say that I'm a DE, and not live in the shadow of the CH's.
I really give you guys credit for sticking with this profession. Thats dedication and spirit. I know that no one here on the boards will take me seriously because I am a holocron follower, but you know... I am not new to the broken profession problem. I dont judge you guys in the least bit. I just want to be treated as a member of your profession for as long as I am here. It may not be a long time, but I am still making the best of things in the time that I have.
I hope to be accepted here, and by the things I have written already on this thread, you can tell that I know what is going on, and that I am not a new player by any means. Between 2 characters on 2 different servers, I have mastered at least 13 professions. If you guys hate me for some odd reason, even though I have presented myself in an honorable fashion thats fine. I just want the chance to come here and talk about my views on the profession as well. Ask questions along the way, and give some imput on other problems at hand.
I am finishing just about one box of DE skills per day, so I can get out of your hair soon. I am sorry that my presence here has tainted things and will be leaving as soon as I can.

This is "OUR" board, wah wah wah. You can't come here! We are the mighty crafters! We sit on our duffs 24/7 mindlessly clicking buttons to make junk that noone wants. We would never hunt a holocron! We would never seek to gain combat experience! We are broken and you can't play "OUR" class. Wah wah wah.
This class is no different from any other except that you are elitist for absolutely no reason. You have ranted for 5 pages why you shouldn't help other people, classy.
Thanks for the total lack of community involvement. For not seeking anything in this game other than staring at a few crafting tools. Lastly, for making pretty colors on the machines that noone in their right mind would use, excluding Bounty Hunter.
Back to the HOLOCRON....
Absolutely right. It -IS- our board. How clever of you to notice the big "Droid Engineer" label on the forum.

However, I made the mistake of continuing to read complaint and whine after whine and thought I should summarize for the others doomed by their HOLOCRON (I just love saying it on this board). My post summarizes these 5 pages. You're welcome.
Truth hurts I suppose. Carry on crafter.

I am a board surfer here and there on the crafter boards....I am a master Merchant and a Master Weaponsmith. I have never done any of these macro crafting, but I was intrested in this. I just attempted this. I got it to work, except for one thing. Is there a command to pull the resources out of my bags? Or do I have to click that? Was just curious, sorry it's not a holo/jedi thing, I'm just trying to figure this macro crafting out.
Would have helped me back in the day!!!
Thanks,

Especially make sure you´re not near a crafting station , got your crafting droid stored and have the option "confirm crafting actions" in the option screen unchecked.
You also have to be quick enough to doubleclick the ressources into the schematic.
