Thread: Droids: Where we were and where we’re going.
Hmmmm, the Merchant Barker... I can picture it now, 100 droids in Coronet outside the starport, spamming like the wind, just talking to themselves, cuz now everyone is out doing stuff and don't have to idle/advertise... hahaha....
Is the "Wound Repair Kit" the old "Droid Repair Tool" that was removed from the game months ago? The new Droidsmith's Tool Set schematic from Publish 6 requires one of those rare items to create it. Some DEs were lucky to keep a couple around. Is the Droid Repair Tool going to be put back into the game?
I know this Master DE wants to get one of those Droidsmith bandoliers!
Thanks

So what I'm trying to get at here,, is that by fixing this problem you've made some of the chassis useless.
TH,
Please use this link as a droid reference: http://www.starwars.com/databank/droid/
I really like the direction of publish 8. It definitely integrates droids serving a purpose for sales, dancers, and combat. I think that the purpose of a droid and what it can actually do in the game is what will promote a Star Warsy feel and stabilize the profession. But there is something missing and thatis graphic immersion.
- For example take a R2 unit which is packed with all sorts of tool-tipped appendages that make him a great starship mechanic and computer interface specialist. We dont ever get to see those devices or use them in SWG. Why?

- Protocols droids serve no purpose. They need playability. An example would be Mr. C3PO. He translate.
- Content- make sure it fits with the Star wars Universe- here is an example from just that universe below.
- Much of the anti-droid sentiment existing in the galaxy is unwarranted bigotry, but even pro-droid activists will find it hard to defend the rights of droids bearing arms. The memory of droid armies is still fresh in many minds, and the legions of mechanized troops used by the Trade Federation and other corporate interests paved the way for legislation that eventually did away with the soulless infantry.
Relics from that era still exist, such as the battered chrome war droid known as IG-88. The tall, cylinder-headed and heavily-armed mechanical bounty hunter responded to Darth Vader's call to capture the Millennium Falcon during the events surrounding the Battle of Hoth.
Well, I am impressed and I think that it is a good start. We juts need to "KICK IT UP A NOTCH"- Emeril, at least I think thats what he says. Hehe. Well anyways, TFTI. Oh yeah and what everyone else said about you saying something that was questionable.

Keep it Up!

Is there a possibility that more utility modules could be designed to go into Publish 8? Are the devs still open for more suggestions?
Bravo!
I think these are some exciting changes and I can't wait to see them.
For those wanting Droidekas I wouldn't want to read too much into this but to quote TH:
"Another aspect to consider is that there will be a solid foundation combat droid in the game in a future publish."
They've always said that they would love to see them in game.
One change I would like to see is that the regular BLL would take one regular module and the Adv BLL would hold a general module socket cluster. That way it could hold 3 modules and be a bit more useful for being one of the hardest droids to build.
I know many people didn't like them but I like the idea of exploding MSE droids. I seem to remember from my Star Wars Droid book that they mentioned that the MSE's were sometimes used for this.

Entertainer module: Entertainers would get a certification so that only they could use this droid (no combat functionality is added so its different that the combat certs). This module would allow an entertainer to queue one of 10 different new effects (smoke, lighting, etc.) The advantage is that the droid won’t consume entertainers HAM (just batteries). Each module will represent a different effect. So with 10 different effects, there will be 10 Entertainer modules which means the higher level droids with more module slots will be more useful for queuing different effects.
Merchant Barker module: This would give droids the ability to bark advertisements, give waypoints to shops, have additional information available so players could list prices, services, etc through a radial menu command.
Covert Detector Module: The covert detector module would allow a droid to detect and disable a covert detector in an area.
Exploding Module: This combat ability would consume a droid in a fixed damage blast.
These changes in addition to combat droid modules and utility modules will address 8 of the 10 Droid Engineers’ Questions. We are very interested in hearing what people have to say throughout this discussion. I’ll post follow-up threads on In Dev and In Concept for each main topic.
Well....Its a good start. Hey can someone answer for me a question? I want to know the specific reqs that make you a community vet, I make mistakes all the time and it wold be cool if I could fix0r them. Ok, well I guess I could just check my posts for errors, but Im much to lazy to read a few extra lines. I know It has to do with time, but does it have to do with amount of posts? I have yet to see a vet without 100 posts, so is it 100 posts and 6 months? Im approaching the 6 month mark and would like to know If I am going to be a veteran. Thanks.
<======= Me if I accually do become a Vet!(Dont really know why I want to be one really, just do)
