Thread: Can someone justify DE only droids?
I'm just going by what you said. You said I made a personal attack against you, but since I see no such thing other than exactly what you said about me, I guess you'll just have to find your own personal attack.
Unless, of course, you were offended that I complemented Drashk and not you. *shrug*
I 100% positive that you are not the only person here who is annoyed by my posts. I am also 100% positive that I am not the only person here annoyed by you. And I am also 100% positive that I have changed people's minds.
You, too, have earned your flames. But please, keep on flaming, it makes it easier for me to change people's minds.
you make a number of good points about the necessity of a DE only droid. This has lead
me to a new thought:
Your question is incorrect.
The real question is not whether or not we need a DE only droid. Your original post gave the question as:
"How do you justify the fact that DE's get a their own special droid, where as no other class gets this priveledge?"
I answered this question. You wrote that my reasons were all good ones for WANTING a DE only droid, but not good ones for explaining why we need one.
NEED is a new issue, and an unfair one. You can't ask to justify need. If this question were valid, we could remove/cancel many things:
New weapons.
Mounts.
Player cities.
Vehicles.
Jedi.
Special Attacks.
All but one weapon of each type.
All but on suit of armor.
All but one planet.
All but one city.
etc...
You see, the game isn't based on necessity. It's based on wants. It's a game. Hell, we don't even need to play it!
If a challenge is posed to justify the necessity for almost everything in game, it will prove to be impossible. Every argument is based in the desire for the game to be multifacetted.
The DE only droid issue comes from the desire of DE's to feel unique in their profession.
Non-crafting professions provide a set of skills and bonuses that are inherent to that profession. They give the character something special.
Crafting professions provide a set of skills and bonuses that are used to create items for everyone to use. Thus providing nothing special to the crafter. BE's, Armorsmiths, and Weaponsmiths get the worst of it, because they are unable to use their creations without other training.
This being said, I agree with the idea that every crafting profession should have a unique Master level item/skill. This will provide that 'something special' for the crafter.
Not an uber-item. Just something cool. The argument can be made that crafters gain the ability to make money off of their creations. True. But, I'll argue that it is easier to make money doing missions than it is to make money crafting and selling items.
There's less overhead. Less bull. So, in essense, the non-crafting professions are given a set of skills and bonuses that allow them to make money, so crafters are not unique in this.
The addition of a MDE only droid SHOULD set a precedent for the other crafting professions.
I want ALL master crafters to have a special something that sets them apart.
I want to be able to identify master crafters without having to read the tag over their head.
Yes, I WANT these things. If you don't want anything from the game, why play?

Making this MDE only would helpdabblers (since you arent dabbling if you are forced to get master for what you want). Since the pet isn't near as good as a master CH pet, people would stick with CH.
