Thread: FYI: Probot nerf
What needs to happen is probots dont insta heal when in data pad. They have to be healed either sitting in med/mechanic center or with repair paks (just like med packs) that DE's make.
This way when someone buys a probot they need to keep comming back to the DE for repairing pack's.
This gives the DE's something else to sell.
Being able to repair your Probot during combat would be good. If the repair pack is made with better skill/stuff it repairs for more.
Probots need to have more hp's though. Dropping them to 900 pool points is to minor.
I only have 1k pool but I can heal during combat so I effectively have more. Droids can't.
I think the the pool points and the armor factor could/should be adjusted by the DE, along with the damage output.
Right now they are so very cookie cutter.
If you are a TKA and you dont need your probot to tank, you need him to spew damage then have a DE make one with lower armor more damage out put or if you are a pistoleer and the need the opposite then have it made the other way.
There are so many creative and fun ways to address this problem.
So far nerfs(balances) have been very heavy handed. It appears you take the easy to program choice instead of the fun factor choice.
Droid engineers have been crapped on lots, and need some dev loving.
Granted Probots are too tough, but please don't over nerf them.
Dashiva
Fixing the insta heal in a camp exploit would go a long way to fixing the problem
FYI ... I carry 20 droid batteries with me on every mission. If only that were the problem.
The problem is that the droid can no longer really be used in combat. I've got over a hundred thousand credits of dead weight amongst all my characters. ![]()

First off, please go read the post I just made in the Discussion forum regarding pending changes to pets and droids... it explains the general situation.
OK, now that you've read that--how will it impact you? Well, for now, you will retain customers for your probots. But frankly, probots are going to have to fall in power around 70% just to make them fall in line for now, until such time as we can get a cert system in for combat droids.
The specific changes we're discussing are to reduce the probot to around 800-900 in stats, remove their armor, and remove their armor-piercing weaponry in favor of weaponry more in line with their new level of difficulty.
We realize that this is going to impact your market for droids significantly, and that you're already suffering from other problems with your profession. But we have to take action given what players are accomplishing with these droids. We do have a couple of droid engineer fixes in the next update:
- Droid medic modules should now have avariable effect on medical wound healing, depending on whatquality medical modules were built into the droid.
- Droids willallow a person to drag an item on top of their petdroid to store an item in it (assuming that the droid has a storage module, of course).
I realize these aren't everything that you want or need, but they're intended just as a start.
Again, we realize how badly this will impact your markets. But we see it as unavoidable. We welcome comment on what other band-aid actions we could take while we work on a cert system.
ok well, you arent addressing the datapad instant fix then? or did you institute it and a decay rate?as it is the probots could be halved in power and the datapad trick makes them deathless warriors.

I'm going to try to watch my language, but if i seem to swerve off in mad fits of rage from now and then throughout this post, please try and bear with me. I apologize in advance for the profanity about to be unleashed.
You know...I have been playing online roleplaying games for a long time. This particular one I was starting to warm up to. I understand that the dev's can't fix everything right away, and so I sincerely put faith in them that they will fix things sooner or later. Now i'm beginning to think it's definately going to be later.
Why the **edit** even have a droid engineer class? i mean for **edit** sakes, how much do you have to **edit** us???
I can't believe what i've read. I just can't **edit**in believe it. I knew SOE had a lot of *LOVE* for the droid engineer class, you could see that in the 101 things that are wrong with this class. The minors, item storage and data storage dont work....ok fair enough, being fixed i got ya. Oh wait, droid refinary? well...there's an entire branch in the DE line that's good for nothing cause SURPRISE SURPRISE !!! it doesn't work either.
So...what do bots do? Well let me tell you honestly, **edit**IN NOTHING that u can't do by other means. The probot is our bread and butter, it is our money maker it is what gives us the resources to keep harvesting and keep grinding to the top. But **edit**....not anymore is it? Might as well just blow them outa the water.
I'm extremely irrate, and well i **edit**in should be! Cause what you Dev's are telling me and other DE's across the servers is this..."**edit** YOU". You're saying basically that our entire time playing this game as a DE has been well...pretty much all for naught. Cause who the hell will buy a probot if it ain't what it is now?
I feel like **edit** now, and thank you very much Dev's at SOE for making me feel like this. Cause what the **edit** am i gonna do now? spend another month grinding another class??? Just to what?...laugh...
If you're going to nerf the probot, do me a favour, just take DE out....cause honestly it seems u guys don't give a **edit** about the class anyway. Hell, CH's can have 2 pets, but droids? no only 1 at a time.....riiiight....cause in the Star Wars universe there were ton's of ppl running around with 2 rancors over 2 droids right? hah....
I have no problem with a probot nerf, hell to tell you the truth, yes they are powerful , yes maybe too powerful. But at least **edit**in fix the rest of our broken **edit** before u **edit** with it even more.
It seems you guys like to fix things that are broken, but you're not fixing them to work. Why is that? Now that missions also can't be stored in a bot, well...what the hell is the point of a data module then????
Thank you very much SOE for taking my money when i bought this game, and thank you very much right now for making me seriously consider throwing this product out in the trash.
I can't **edit**in wait to log in, in a few days with 100 emails / tells of ppl asking for their money back, i'm sooooo looking forward to that. THANK YOU!!!!
Yes i'm **edit**ing pissed, yes i'll calm down eventually, but i just had to rant.....

Well where to start. OK
1. This nerf will severly hamper any sales of droids on all servers, leave the condidtion alone leave the HAM bars alone make people use batteries, but make the batteries more effective for the crafters to make.
2. if your going to impede us then lets talk about working other things out. Binary Load Lifters should be able to help mine as their Real SW counterparts could in the movies and such, you have nothing and I mean nothing effective for our droids to do, only so many people can buy a crafting or medical droid. Make surgical droids actually heal some damage, thats what they are for not. 21b's replaced actual people in the SW Universe. the didnt enhance a medics skills.
3. There is no primary purpose except for status to own a droid these days I am having a hard time even giving the dang things away.
4. People complain that we are millionaires, why because we found a niche and used it to our advantage. Why because we have to go though 200,000 exp before we can even make a droid to sell to someone, If your not a droid engineer you have no idea how difficult it is to find the Specific resources need to make a BLL or Prot Droid. Not to mention a probot or any other Tier 3 or 4 droid. we waste millions of credits and time to get to a level where we can make some cash and people have to demeen us because we have some money give me a break.
5. All DE's need to unite and stop complaining and start helping the devs work toward fixing the problems or inefficiancy's we have in our craft.

After reading these posts I think that a Droid use and a Creature use skill tree is an excellent idea.
The Droid use and Creature use skill should allow the user to handle more droids or creatures as they climb the tree. Use of the droids or creatures should contribute uxp to the droid or creature user with a small portion of the uxp going to the droid builder or creature trainer as if the droid builder were supporting the droids in a warrenty fashion. hehe. Also I think DE and CH should continue to be able to use at least one droid or creature even if they do not invest skill points in the droid use and creature use skill trees even while they accummulate uxp from players using there droids.
There could be different columns one for weapons droids creatures, another for Cargo/Crafting Service droids creatures, another for repair/entertainment/Medical,and lastly formining/manufacturing droid creature purposes. I dont think this should require as many skill points as the elite professions but I would like to see it take a large number or xp to lvl this. Perhaps in the millions xp per lvl. This along with droid perma death would provide a healthy market for DE's while peopleuse their droids in an attempt to lvl up this skill.
Also the Power droids should be smart enough to be able to run from a power supply center to the mines/factories. Cargo droids should be smart enough to be able to run from factories to merchants and mines to factories. There should be a mining/surveying droid which can gather more resources than a player. Right now a player with survey 4 can mine more minerals in a day than the largest mining facility. Hmm guy without a shovel vs high tech machine designed to mine which gathers ore faster. In SWGthe guy without a shovel wins every time.

We are trying to bring the toughest PET into line with a maxxed out player. Yes, that means that on paper, a CH is still theoretically more powerful than a combat player. We're counting on pets needing healing/food/power, them being fairly dumb, etc, to balance things out a bit more.
But yes, your overall point stands. We're nerfing CH to be "only" 3 times more powerful than a TKM. Which is why it's a bit amusing to see people saying that the profession is doomed.
LOL. So you nerf CH to 3 times more powerful than a TKM and nerf the DE to what? less powerful than a marksman basic class? With less revenue input?
Holo
with Droid Certs, of course you will include the ability for DEs to be able to use the droids they can make? So you will be including certs in some type of combat trees and in DE tress, right?
Ok, I realize this thread is about the band-aid to the probots, but I have to ask...
Cert System?
I'm hoping that you're not going to limit things like combat droids to the combat classes 'n such (or even just to the DE's themselves... hell, there goes their entire market right there!) because even I as a crafter (non-DE, and only have Marksman until I need to give it up to make room for other skills) need SOME protection while out in the wilds of some of these planets. A cert system that limits combat droids to combat skilled players only will basically make me a sitting duck. Which is bad for someone who mines resources, especially on some of these tough planets.
(And the proposedchanges in the patch seem a bit weak. But you knew that already. Are you going to include a fix along with the item-storage that prevents a droid from getting re-stored if it has stuff still in it?)
Aye, Holo. I agree that a sudden band-aid is needed, but I beg you, do not get comfortable with that Band-Aid! Do not let it sit there and linger forever, and once Certs are in place, do not forget to fix up that which you brought down for emergency reasons.
Also.....one thing we absolutely need, either from the Corrospondent or from you (preferably you), is regurgitation. Yes, that's right. And that's all. I think most of us just want to hear from your mouth that you acknowledge our gaping issues and that we're not sitting here with blind hope for positive changes, but rather verified hope. You said you know we have "big issues", but we want to hear you repeat what those issues are, so that we're on the same page. We want to hear you acknowledge that:
1) Most of our droids don't do anything, they serve no purpose, and thus take up space.
2)None of our modules work as expected.
3) There is no market for droids because of #1, most droids are useless, many can be outdone by other methods (Crafting Stations or Campsites), and the one droid we had which was very useful, the Probot, is being downsized as an emergency fix until later, in which time we'll hope it will be upped back to some sort of useful level.
4) There is no resale value of Droids, because of a bug they last eternally. Now, just as bad is the opposite end, where Droids die far too fast and break down way too soon. Right now, people just buy one, because that one lasts forever. If you go to far, they'll buy none, because they'll die so fast that it won't be worth the investment.
5) Customization. You allready know about this, but remember, this is a perk, nothing more. It enhances the profession, but does not fix the problems which keep the profession from legitimately operating.
Here's a Band-Aid for you:
