Thread: The Infamous January Publish Quote...
- Saying DEs WANTED a DH profession,
- Making us soundlike spoiled brats when the DH profession was declared dead
- Saying to Drasshk that a"balanced" certificate system would be consideredand the publicly stating again and again that no cretificate system would be acceptable
- the final insult saying that every certification system boiled down to "Free combat power".
on THs part exacerbated the situation by angering the community reducing the effecctiveness of communication by introducing a lot of noise. Had in mid Dec. or earlyJanuary when the decision was made to change priority, the reasons been communicated and a promise of "All practical bug fixes" being included, I would be a much happier player right now and I think you would have spent less time putting out fires.

JustG,
Rather than come up with excuses, I would find it more constructive and better for all of US in this player community if you would go to the "Publisher" or whoever changed the schedule and complain to them that the customers have been expecting "x" for "y" amount of time and will be very displeased with all of SOE if "x" does not come out on date "z" when told it would.
If you are a spokesperson for the DE community and the player community, you SHOULD put your pride aside and rather than getting offended, attempt to do something about it in our and your favor.

I, uh, just want to take a moment to get this straight, be sure I'm on the same page here.
So what you're saying is that the developers are under no responsibility to keep their word in any way, shape, or form, to the community because 'things change,' nor are you responsible for alerting us to the fact that something has 'changed' in a timely manner.
Gotcha.
I think the community is partly at fault here, simply because we tend to take anything the DEVs say as if it's been written in stone. Granted, they've made an aweful lot of mistakes over the last several months, but shame on us for continuing to put that much stock in thier posts. We should have learned a long time ago that when the DEVs say something will happen, that it will likely change. The DEVs, in turn, should have learned a long time ago not to make statements to the community that will be taken as if they were written in stone.
I'm aware that I tend to be too quick to give someone the "benefit of the doubt," but frankly I think the DEV team is making a concerted effort to up communication. I really have seen a change since the forums were reorganized, and hopefully once the dust settles from that reorganization the communcation will improve.
All that aside, I'm actually quite surprised at how many people keep saying that the "Droid Invasion" has been aborted. I read all the developer posts, and no one ever said that.
In fact, if you get past JustG's post for which this thread was named, the schedule for droids really became clear sometime in December (I'm not going to go digging for the exact posts, but I know I read them). They announced that due to the sucess of the last two publishes, they were going to give each publish a theme. They said that the next publish would be called "Imperial Crackdown" and the patch after that would be "Droid Invasion." Based on that, I never expected the droid invasion to be coming in January. I saw the same post you guys did that said combat droids were coming in January, but I set that post aside as being irrelevant shortly after reading the themed publish schedule.
It seems to me that sometimes we pick and choose which posts we're going to listen to.
Thanks for the info jG
Although I was a little perturbed to be anxiously waiting for the next Publish which was to focuss on DE, then to read the notes and find out that we only got acouple of Bug Fixes. A note telling us your focuss had changed (a couple of weeks ago) would have been nice.
Thanks again. We waited this long, I guess another month is nothing.
I hope you're not holding your breath. I'm certainly not.
