Well, the chat channels last from creation until the server restart. So you just have to have the first de on each day to remake the channel and you're set.

Good point. My bad. Spanking given.

Guys, I getting a beat down trying to start a DEnet on starsider, I been told that I trying to start a cartel. I been told by other DEs to stop emailing them. I got about 3 other DEs talking to me. Any tips before I give up on this?

I can only recommend that you point them to some of the DEA / DENet posts on the DE boards, which try to help explain what this all "is"...

It is most definitely NOT a "cartel". It's a 'profession association' that's 100% voluntary and aimed at helping ALL DEs on a server, regardless of their level or 'clout'.
Examples of how a DENet can benefit the skeptic:
- Resources spawn reports can be shared amount ALL DEs. This is a huge time-save to everyone and doesn't really affect the level of competition in any substantive way (in fact, it seems to have helped DEs on Ahazi).
- The ability to communicate quickly and effectively between DEs in many areas, such as bug/issue tracking, making sure that pricing 'windows' can be maintained (so that people don't unintentionally kill markets), sending out notices on problematic/thieving droid clients...
I would also put forth to these folk that they are not being asked to leave a guild, join a new guild nor is there any "dues" or membership requirements (other than being a DE).
You might also let me know that this system has been in place for some time on several servers and, from all reports that I've seen, has been a general boon to the DE community at large.
We are, for now, the only crafting profession that has numbers that can make this sort of profession consortium feasible and worthwhile.
I note that there are DEs on Ahazi that are not part of the DENet and still do just fine. However, I also know that a lot of lower-level DEs and others get great benefit from a DENet in a variety of ways (and it varies from person to person).
Just do what you can to stress that there's nothing nefarious behind any of this. It's done for the good of EVERY DE on all servers (no matter whether they be guilded, factioned or just a normal Joe or Jane).

TK, Bria is very much like the Starsider reports. Let me address a few of the points to give you an idea why some servers may not be interested in forming such a group:
It is most definitely NOT a "cartel".
When it comes to setting consistent droid pricing schemes or "windows", as has been the stated actions of the Ahazi DEANet, then that certainly falls into the cartel role. On that single point alone, the Bria DEs are not interested in any form of DE association as we're waaaaaaaaay too competitive on pricing.
Resources spawn reports can be shared amount ALL DEs. This is a huge time-save to everyone and doesn't really affect the level of competition in any substantive way
This is very server specific. The Bria updates of swgcraft.com are very competitive (ie, every planet of the galaxy has resource information less than 6 hours old at any time of the day or night). To us, there is no benefit, because a quick check of the information contained there will give you what you need far faster than waiting for the coordinator to log in, collate info and pass it on.
sending out notices on problematic/thieving droid clients...
Perhaps this is a level of maturity that Bria has that others don't, but I haven't had any issues with this is 5 months now. I haven't had a tell from any potential customer saying "well my friend can make me a probot for 500cr, you're ripping me off" since at least September. Neither have any of the other DEs that I'm in regular contact with. Players on our server seem to have somewhat realistic expectations, and when I do get a newbie asking for a cheap droid, spending 5min with them explaining a few things always ends up with a customer a week or two later when they do have the cash.

First off, I fully realize that not all servers might be interested in this. That's entirely up to them. As stated, the concept of a loose profession 'association', intended to aid all members, was and is entirely voluntary. I only state what I've seen to be successful on Ahazi (and have heard from other servers that it seems to be helpful as well). It really may not be for everyone. However, it may well be that some form of a DENet would work for Bria, if it were designed and implemented specific to the needs and playstyles of the DEs on that server. The whole thing here is that it can be a loose association/consortium/whatever that is a positive grouping of like-minded players intended to help ALL........not raise a few.

Pricing was a pretty bad example for me to use. Even on Ahazi, pricing hasn't ever been a primary focus of what the DENet addresses. It has come up now and again during meetings but I'd hardly say that it approaches anything even marginally close to pricing "fixing".
If Bria players, for example, decided talking price was forever off the table, then there might be reasons and ways that it could be helpful. Every server and group of DEs can (and does) decide how best to 'group' in the best interests of the profession overall.

On Ahazi, I can get a resource report to DEs on the DENet about 1 min. after the report is made. It's entirely possible that DEs can know of a new, important spawn literally minutes after it appears in the galaxy (and, yes, this DOES happen).
In addition, with DENet, there's no need to even Alt-Tab to check the SWGCraft site. The info is already right there, in the email and often includes the waypoint to the rough location being reported.
I can see that this would be server specific to the kind of players that are on that server. That being said, I'd still have to think thata useful and practical DENet type association is very worthwhile and possible. It all depends on how it's setup by the players that will take part.

Point taken. This particular item doesn't come up all that much, to be honest. But, it is one example of the good that can come from a DENet. We've had a few 'problem' people show up on Ahazi and try to scam/thieve on the DEs there. We are able to blacklist them in near completion due to the DENet. It saves a lot of people a lot of grief....when this situation comes up.
Again, I realize that all DENets will be a bit different, since they have to be very nearly by definition (different servers, different players and playstyles, etc.). However, I very firmly believe that the concept of something like a DENet can work on EVERY server to the betterment of every DE on that server. It all depends on what can be agreed upon in relation to how the association will operate and the goals that it attempts to reach.
On a side-note: TheWoody is by FAR a better person to speak to these issues, since he has a lot more experience than I with some of what we are talking about here. I would think he might be able to put forth items that would very much make Bria DEs starting thinking about how this really could benefit them (and the entire DE profession on Bria).

Just to let everyone know, I am still the DEA for the DENet on Valcyn. I have been having many RL problems of late, but I am not giving up. Hopefully this week and weekend ill get together with the few DEs ive found and have a meet greet. RL can bite you in the arse sometimes.
I'm still kicking and it seems my race, and profession(s) are getting some attention after all these months. Now ifI can only get the creds, tobuy factories and harvsI lost due to RL I would be set.
Valcyn DEs look for me online.

Server: Scylla
No DENet Admin that I know of. I would like to get involved with running this on Scylla unless someone else already is (and if so add me to the list.)

I am starting a DEAnet on Bloodfin. Despite an earlier post there does not appear to be an active group or chat channel so i am taking the liberty of starting one up.
E-mail me in-game if you are interested.

unfortunately i believe freastro may have either quit DE or quit the game. On naritus i only know of three MDE, myself who just made it last night, and cameo and another person (forgot name) who are veterans. I'm interested in being part of this, could we have a little more info?
I'm a MDE on Naritus and would be willing to help get this started. Give a tell or email to Aricuk.

Lol, sorry, I'm just not out-there as much as I should be. I was away from the game a few months ago, but I'm back now. The current Naritus DENet isn't really active, but I do have a log of all messages sent on it. All I need is some active members and we can start doing stuff. I've chosen not to work this summer, unless my current employer decides to let me work this summer, so I should have plenty of time to do stuff. Also, I will be leaving for the first half of July and the DENet may need a second-in-command to take over then. Lastly, if I prove or have provento be insufficient in leading the DENet, I have no problem in letting someone else take command. Now that everything is said and done, let's start working on getting the Naritus DENet back on its feet. Thanks for the concern!
