I expect that we'll see information on the day they push Publish 8 to TC. It will be copy of the Publish notes, possibly with a comment or two from TH.

Prepare to be underwhelmed.

When SOE does something positive with Droid Engineers, I'll quit being negative.

This type of post is exactly why they won't 'talk' here. I don't really care, personally, but I figure you all want them to start hanging out here, you'll have to do your part. Sorry, that's just the way it is...best as I can tell. If you want to be negative, that's your prerogative. But it won't bring them to the boards in the manner so many seem to want.

Also...in general, on this issue:

There's a possibility that TH mis-spoke about the combat tweak/balance/changes. I'm try to find out right now.

For the time being, I'd recommend that you not count on this change until I can confirm definitively that it either has happened or will be happening for Publish 8. From what I understand, he may have been referring to DC (or whatever).

I'm almost certain the idea behind multiple slots is that it lets you get maximum armor without needing a composite armor plate. The fact that you don't take advantage of that doesn't make them wasteful.

To make it so that two Armor-6 modules gave you some advantage over one Armor-6 module sort of goes against how all the other modules work.

Now if they want to make it so that Armor-6 gives you light armor, great, or if they want to make it so there's a point in stacking two level six modules of any type that would be great. I'm not saying I don't want to be able to do either of those, but it should maintain some consistency.

BTW, now that we are starting to see droid frames that effect the performance of installed modules (astromechs and LE Repair do less damage with an identical combat rating) how about seeing some other frames modify some of the existing modules, like giving a bonus to the medical rating for surgical droids or maybe a bonus to the storage for Binary Load Lifters?

While the aforementioned post was unnecessarily ranting refusing to post is only going to make the situation worse, not better.

Well...I'd agree that the situation won't get better. Unfortunately, the onus is on those that frequent the DE boards to take the first step. It isn't fun...but it's what I've been told. They simply aren't inclined to post in any 'snake pit' profession forums (or other overly flame/rant-filled areas).

Which leaves us in a Catch-22 situation. They "won't" post here because of the atmosphere, and the atmosphere isn't likely to change even if they post here. Unless we put on Abashi Brand Rose-Colored Glasses.

Can we ask them what "The Vision (TM)" of a Droid Engineer is?

Negative tone? I got your negative tone, pal!

"This type of post is exactly why they won't 'talk' here."

Frankly, this is a bunch of BS. They didn't 'talk' here when we were all being happy and positive...I'd say we were happy and positive for a month solid, at least. Polite inquiry at worst. What happened?

No results - no posts - no word - TH went on vacation - armor nerfed - 'Droid Invasion' ridiculed by non-DE players

I'm so very sorry that the sensitive SOE employees do not wish to post here on the DE forums. My heart bleeds for their delicate egos. Maybe they would not have a sea of negativity if they would, oh, do their jobs? Live up to their promises? I would say, 'Live up to their potential,' but I think I want themto set their sights higher than that.

Since I'm being negative for real now, let me just add - TK, you're getting to be as full of it as the SOE development team. If all you can bring us is vague promises of a brighter tomorrow then what's the point? You've not done much to guide the forum in a direction that might support (with ideas) the stuff the developers are doing 'behind the curtain.'

/snort; Would you care to make a little wager on whether I'm right about when we'll see Publish 8 info?

P.S. My droid stims make a 'food-munching' noise. /cry

P.P.S. ^THIS is an unnecessarily ranting post.

Actually that is exactly how all other modules work except for the new combat modules. What makes it different from the way the other modules work is that there is nothing else to put into the armor module slots, so once you've got access to level 6 armor modules, the second armor modules slot becomes useless. I see two ways to address this issue: make armor modules work like the combat modules (one module, where experimentation makes a big difference, and two maxiimally experimented modules is the only way to get max armor). ORadd another type of module that can go into the armor module slots...

You realize that everyone is bitching about the devs increasing droid combat ability. Its not hard to see why a Dev wouldnt want to stop by when we're willing to flame them for an improvement.

yeah we'll probably have left over stock. but you cant have your cake and eat it too. At least you know now and can push to get them off your shelves. And there is always the possibility it will be retroactive.

Total loss of annual revenue (SOE): ~$715US to ~$900US
- Bad press: Priceless
Should Sony and Lucas Arts be worried? (15000 users * 5 accts = ~$13MIL in potential lost gross annual revenue) If I were the CEO for either LA or SOE, I would certainly be worried.

You know, provide feedback on ideas in a timely manner, outline the framework for the profession's future enhancement, suggest topics for brainstorming, give a 'peek' at future enhancements and ask for speculation on how they might be usable/exploitable...all those sorts of things that don't happen around here.

These are the two most profound things ever said on the DE forum. /bravo

Thank you. I was actually being serious at this point.

AO, the rest of the post below what I've quoted here should be required reading for the developer(s) working on DE. /bravo yourself.
