Ok, I just did the tally, will do it again after a few more days. Getting a lot of good feedback, thx for the responses.
When I tallied up, some people said they were "between staying and considering leaving" or something like that. Basically if you are "thinking" about leaving and are unhappy, you are considering leaving. For the final tally we will count from the start so if your answer wasn't clear you may want to go back and edit it.
Here is what I have so far.
Staying: 28
Considering leaving: 57
Already Gone: 14
Ok let's extrapolate a little bit here. Let's say that 50 % of the considering people actually leave. Now a lot of people threaten to quit and such all the time, but DE's are not the OMGzers I Arz N3rf3d, quitz0r t1m3 4 m3. DEs are used to pain, we are different, some may disagree, but as a generalization this is true.So the 50% number may not be to high, in fact it may be low. Yet lets work with that for now.
So split the considers in half, you end up with. Rounded down.
Stayed:56
Left: 42
So that means that about 43% have left the game. That is a pretty large percentage and would really scare me. When things happen like that there is also an avalanche effect, because those people had friendswho may leave as well. The people who left will also try to recruit friends to the new game.
Not turning this into a discussion thread, we can do that on another, just analysing the numbers. Please keep the answers coming in.

Gone: 1 account.
(For statistical purposes, you may also want to distinguish between a) subscribers, and b) accounts. Multiple accounts paid for by the same player should affectyour analysis, to some degree.)

I agree.
Those are the people that are still paying big bucks for CA/AA's, buying up DOT weapons, and new sets of armor.
They have no idea that the "upgrade" they have heard rumblings about is actually going to be an entirely seperate game.
Something tells me on May 5 there will be a huge upswing in people registering for the forums - those who have had accounts but never bothered to register and post - who come here to ask "What the f...?"
I knew the CU was going to be a big nerf from the moment they mentioned it - that doesn't take a rocket scientist. And it was needed in many ways. However, they are turning this into EQ2 and the Devs don't seem to realize that MOST of us don't play other games because of that very reason.
Yes, a core group (who I *used* to be part of) was here for Star Wars, but two years later I wouldn't be sitting here talking about it if that's all it was.
.......
It seems this is the type of player they are trying to appease - and to be frank it makes me sick. How frickin' generic and typical can it get? This guy (and others like him) want EQ with a Star Wars skin, which in the original design of SWG was supposed to be the absoulte biggest "no-no".
It's not enough they have decimated the player economy by giving everyone perfect knowledge so they can sort a spreadsheet of every item for sale in the game, but now they don't even want to give us things to make and sell.
As anyone who knows me by reputation can tell you, I am NOT a fan of forced grouping for the sake of it. However, the player economy is what made SWG unique among MMO's. If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't be here - I'd be playing RTS business games and the like.
And now...it seems the Dev team is hell bent on turning this into EQ2. I don't follow that game, but from what I understand it wasn't the break-out hit it was supposed to be, so I question why they want to imitate a game that wasn't terribly successful.
I guess they got desperate. JTL tanked, and I heard an estimate of 50K active subscribers around these parts (not total, just active). Them's TSO numbers, LOL.
Personally, I'm just sick of waiting for the game to solidify. It's been two years. Of course MMO's are constantly EVOLVING, but SWG does way to much DEVOLVING at the same time. I would love to get to a point where we can just start playing the game and the additions being simply new content, not breaking things that weren't broke to begin with.
For a long while post-JTL they had me positively rooting for them, but too many mistakes have come to light - some of which are irreversable at this point.
Anyone know if they are gonna bring that Exchange thing over here? If I could sell off everything for cash, sadly I'd likely be out the door and give up on MMO's period.

Thanks for the calculations Straker. But that would be 43% of the people who visit the forums. Most of my friends in the game dont bother visiting the forums and much less posting. So I am guessing the percentage will go down somewhat. Just how much is anyones guess.
Actually, I would venture to guess that the numbers will go up when non-forums users are taken into account. These are people that have been quietly playing the SWG we know and love for months or years, and haven't followed any of the CU drama. Many of these people will log in on May 5 and say "what the...What happened to my game?" and leave the game forever. I guarantee it won't be a small number.

You know, the scariest friggin' thing was posted in the FF about Cybernetics :

I am of the opinion that crafters have too much already. It's not a popular opinion, but that's the one I have. I'll compare this with EverQuest 2, since that's the other game I play.
In SWG, if I want a new weapon/suit of armor/clothing, whatever I have to hunt down a crafter to make it or find one that is already made and is on a merchant.
