The last combat droid I owned that was worth a damn was a probot bought a month after launch (roughly) and he has long since been destroyed.

So you got my vote.

please don't necro...

And for your refrence, the combat droids we have now are far superior to the original probots.

Are you making the mistake of grouping with your droid when your combat level is BELOW that of the droid? I have had a Combat Level 30 probot take out a level 31 tusken raider by it self (not grouped). I did not provide any assistance to the droid in the form of firing upon the tusken or healing/repairing the droid.

NOT SIGN.

Now fix the grouped/non-grouped behavior, that would be a good thing.

----------- Edit --------------

Forget all that, this is an old post that I thought was current. Post should be dropped.

I've been using droids for combat ever since I could make them and have yet to find one that has died not due to my ill use of it.

If you are lower than level 30 do not group with it and let it fight anything up to level 32 .. a great tool for the beginner player.

But if you are higher than level 30 you take the brunt and can group with it and let it HELP you. The droid is not there to do ALL the fighting for you. With the droid helping you should be able to take out Mobs that are a few levels above what you can solo . If you can solo nothing more than 3 levels above your level then with the droid you may be able to kill those maybe 5 levels above.

I have a level 37 character that has a pet and a droid out at all times. When I group with my level 80 guildies having my droid join in to assist has helped us in a couple of the battles we have had where 6 level 82 critters have teamed up against the 2 level 80 players. I attack (not taking the focus) and get my droid and pet to fight alongside me. We might not do as much damage as the level 80s .. but I have yet had the droid die on me unless I have messed up and got the focus due to over healing my comrades and getting the creatures aggroing me.

As they are our droids when used in combat are fine. Everytime I make a combat droid it sells. Whether its a simple DZ70 with just the combat module or whether its a probot with Medic and Combat modules for the fighting medics out there.

You as a droid engineer need to make the customer aware that they are not gonna be as good as the old droids. Every so often I post up a message item on the vendor explaining how the droids work since Publish 18. I have yet had a single complaint on a bad droid sale. And thats since I started selling almost 2 yrs ago.

Guys please, this is a necro post and has no bearing at all on today's probots. Like Jenden said, today's probots are superior to any previous iteration.

Let this thread die!

A doctor CAN heal a droid AND give the droid medical buffs.

Humble apologies .. I wondered what the remark to Necro was at first and didnt notice the dates of the original posts until now ) It seemed relevant to today in the sense that I still read comments that the droid is not working .. bows it slowly .. sorry again .. nuff said .. )

LOL! Oh yea of little faith! The Probot is my #1 combat oriented seller. And I get 140K+ for each I sell. And they're CL 30, so handle creatures below that level quite easily. Well, at least the ones I make do.
