Droid Engineer Archive
Thread: Lets hear your responses to the devs post.
I would really *really* like to see some form of "Battle droid"
I remember the Trade Federation (which still exsists in SWG) those droids were cheap, inexpensive, and they WERE battle droids. I'm not saying make the super-duper kill everything droids, but make them what they were, cheap, easy, and effective in large numbers. If a droid engineer has a factory, he could produce the parts in crates, and sit down and maybe craft 15 of these by hand, easily, and they would function something similar to what the probots are now, change the probot for something else.
Maybe even make it so they come with no weapons. Maybe we can experiment and make a commander, and he can instruct others. Maybe make it so the weaponsmiths can construct weapons that will assist in the damage of the battle droids.
Maybe make it so we have to have a "central controller" in our possesion to control the battle droids, so if we die, they die.
Anything to add depth, and SOMETHING so I can tell my customers, "Yeah, the ONLY fighting droid is the probot."
As far as usefulness, what about the protocol droid? I think anyone that has a protocol droid should get an exp bonus of 10% or something. Maybe a learning curve. Maybe protocol droids could be walking banks. There has to be SOMETHING that would want people to use them.... although poor 3PO was useless in the movies ![]()
Binary Load lifters, it would be great to see them do something, maybe bring resources to machines, bring power to machines, get resources and bring them home. Even if I have to outfit my BLL with a "Resource Container" each morning, it would be well worth it and I could power him up, give him 15k power to distribute, and have him run my machines for me. That would rock.
Do DZ70's do anything?
Do power droids?
Why are surgical droids special?
What's the purpose of being a master DE? Maybe add 1 or 2 NEW droids to master DE. Maybe add droidekas. Even if we have to get materials from armorsmiths, and weaponsmiths, and even if we have to have special certs. It will give me the reason for living out my dream.
Thank you, very much for the response ![]()

oh I forgot to add the need for unique single or limited quantity droid schematics as loot, which might be an effective way to phase in certain droid modules or even the droids themselves, prior to full release to the general DE population.Speaking of loot,I think the current loot system is awful, and while I know they are looking at this, they should also look at dropping these unique schematics along with some unique parts with quantity based on mob level, instead of, or in addition to the parts they now drop every year or so, that I usually destroy. I mean what is a DE gonna do with a vibro core thingy that is useableonly by weaponsmith? Sure I could sell it butI think that defeats the point and they could just drop something more universal to sell then.
Weapons for droids should be crafted by weaponsmith or better yet beactualplayer weapons, that would be dropped into a weapon slot during the droid crafting process. Would be nice if the droids level of certification or expertise could be crafted in using certain modules. "Pistoleer module" anyone? How about an insane axe weilding protocol droid, or a bruce-lee-P0, lol. Hmm, Ok maybe not that last one.
Same for armor and sheilds, involve the armorsmiths to make these components, or better yet use existing off the shelf armor. Conversly there should be new components craftable by DE only, that these professions need to make some of their future stuff. This has to be balanced in some way or we will all need weaponsmith and armorsmith in addition to master artisan.
!oh! get rid of or move the GP, mem, and all the othermodules just about every droid needs out of master artisan and into DE, what other elite artisan class depends so heavily on also being a master art?
ooo, I just had another thought, what if we could get a bio engineer involved by having them sample an actually player then we use that sample in the process of making, for example, a "pistoleer cybornetic brain" Mwahahahah!
Sintrosi;
The first thing and VERY easy for them to do...they already did with Armor and Weaponsmiths...
INCREASE our Experimentation and Assembly lines to be 100 total. They are currently at 55 at Master which is disgusting.
As for other things like new droids, yes, that would be great but we have other problems that need addressing first...make existing droids unique before adding new frames that do the same as an MSE droid.
My wishlist item you ask? Ok you didn't...but I would love for our Elite-Elite profession to be vehicle or starship crafting. We currently design motive systems, controls, modules, frames...everything that a vehicle would need =)
Wishlist droid is a droideka. Outfit it with armor (from an armorcrafter, get rid of our armor line), weapons from a weapon crafter, personal droid shield generator (which wears out), and make it certified so ONLYa Master DE can use. Something that we have to look forward to instead of Binary Load lifters.
One thing that maybe some folks don't know....
In this era of the Star Wasr universe, actual combat droids are illegal.
Just a bit of "fluff"...and since the game follows the "fluff" of the star wars universe so rigidly, thought that maybe this might be interesting......
Simple Mission Programming; something along these lines:
1. Go to Waypoint 1.
2. Pause 100 seconds.
3. Go to Waypoint 2.
4. Pause 60 seconds.
5. Go to Waypoint Home. (Back where he started.)
BP II- This should get you Battle Droids with about 300+ HAM, and do around 50 damage.
BP III- Here is where you should get Probots. 800 HAM, and 90 damage.
BP IV- Super Battle Droids. 1500 HAM, and about 120. These guys should have the ability to get different damage types depending on modules put in (made by weaponsmith's maybe?)
Master DE- Droidika. 3000+ HAM. 150-200 damage. Should also have the ability to add in Deflector componants to add to the resists.
Being a Co-Leader to a new guild this idea for a droid componet came across me.
A guild Managment Modual. The problem is if you get someone to join your guild you have to drag them back to your guild hall and stand them infront of they guild managment computer in your PA hall.
If you recruit someone in Naboo, and your PA hall in in Tantooine it would be a lot easier to pull out your guild managment droid to recurit them than having to fly with them to Tantooine.
Just a sugestion

my recent thoughts on simple ways to improve droids are somewhat along the lines of SnowDog's suggestion.
Remove the simple 'get waypoint, clear waypoints, and patrol' functions and install an interface that takes a lot from the Ctrl+V planet map on droids that have a data module. With this map, the droid's master should be able to create waypoints, set an order, and set whether the path is a go-to-and-stop path, or a patrol pattern. The waypoints would be created on the droid's data module, so as not to clutter up the owner's but waypoints should be transferrable to and from each. With it a droid owner should be able to take the risk of sending a droid from one city, across the map, to another.
With this should come a permissions list for droids with storage modules. The owner can set allowed users for deposit and withdraw access, or make either public.
The usefulness of these two relatively simple functions would be pretty big. A owner can add someone to the withdraw list, put something in the droid, then plot a path without having to walk it first and send the droid off to meet the person.
With this, the ability to call at least 2 droids would be very nice, because the droid would definately need protection.
