Thread: What is up with no /tip for training?!?!?
Getting into DE relatively early on, I paid for all my training myself and know it's a long slog and cash is short for a DE aspirant. So I never charge for training. But, in there are some people I won't train...
- "I need you to come to Naboo (or some other planet I'm not on at the moment)right away and train me." I've actually had that happen twice now.
- People who get trained and depart with a curt "cya".A simple thanks for several thousand credits worth of training ensures further training - its absenceresults in ignore.
I've noticed that at least half the people who climb the DE tree quit after a while when they find out being a Droid merchant doesn't meet their needs, I've been pleasantly surprised to find people who I trained at no cost in months past are now more than happy to help me with armor and other goodies they acquire in their new professions. ![]()
I'm to the point where I require tipping, and I make sure to let people know it beforehand. I get nothing from training, as I've been maxxed at the 1240 xp for over a month, and having to run 2k meters into town, or even wait a half hour at my shop just to bump somebody else up is not good time management.
I have paid for about 90% of my training through NPCs, both to avoid having to beg in town, and because the experience of droid training interaction is more rich with the NPCs than with some random DE that impatiently trains while waiting for a shuttle or whatnot. Ever since beta, I tipped at least 1/4 of the NPC cost for training.
I train other DE's for half of what it cost me to train the skill. If they don't like it they can **edit** themselves. I don't train competition for free
Its bad enough we don't get enough business, if at all any. So training another for free setting me back even more is not on my checklist, unless its a guild member
No Offense but we gotta make a living off of what scraps we can becuase of this worthless broken profession.
