more likely they are healing kits because they are way easier to code, and dont deal with the sticky issue of needing 2 droids out at the same time (I.e. combat droid & repair droid).

Also I was thinking about the "6 combat modules being the best" and that they work in general sockets. I was thinking that it makes much more sense if you replace general harness with defense harness. A lot more droids would be restricted.

I also personally dont think there will be any droids with 6 slots until the CL>10 is resolved.

I think you're right. Combined with the statement that only combat capable droids will be able to accept the new combat modules and we don't have to worry about R3's dominating combat.

Def looks like a "snipet" to me.I wouldn't describe any of these things as "major features" that jibes with that the droid invasion was supposed to be. The only significant change is the combat module, which I think all of us DEs know is going to be terribly implimented and not worth the resources it takes to make. Strike two

The Droid Engineer changes (sometimes referred to as Droid Invasion) spans two publishes. Listed here are what's going in for Publish 7. Publish 8 will have additional Droid Engineer changes to wrap-up the total package.

Ireally do not want another super hyped up feature that the devs come up with and then when it comes out, it's flat and boreing. Devs have been ranting about the imperial crackdown for weeks before the publish and when it was released, reports from players are saying "THAT'S IT?!" We have STs who come in Cantinas and scan for rebels saying the same repetivive boring phrases and does nothing when they actually find a rebel. I have testing this imperial crackdown on sliced items by loading my inventory with nothing but sliced material and never been stopped once or scanned by an ST for contraband. Devs made this sound so exciting but really all i see are more ST presence and that's really about it. Not really a crackdown, just a ST conjestion. Crackdown is supposed to be one force taking action, not comparing me to a rock mite and saying "Well, back to my duties". The Imperial Crackdown is unimpressive and not what the devs hyped it up to be. FLash foward to this droid invasion. The enthusiasum of the DE community is as high asmy want to go see a Best in Show competition. Devs has went so far as to toy with the idea of making a Droid Handler profession. Is this to say that combat droids will be extremely powerful? Will there be droids that can, let's say, combat a Imperials AT-ST and beAS toughto take down and maybeAS large?! I mean we reallyhave gotten little to no details as to what kind of droids these will be.Besides attacking, what else can these combat droids do? What kind of armor will they be able to have? Enough to warrant a whole new profession to actually control them? Cause if we drop a good profession just to master a new one that boils down to me controling a lvl 30 or 50 droid with craptastic abilities is a waste of our time.

The DE community is unimpressed and have been very minorly informed as to what the DE invasion will do for them. If you think giving DE's the ability to make a combat droid with a Droideka body but have the crappiest stats and can't hold a candle to any mob in the game, you'll soon see that you guys definatly need to learn how to make a bettergame when the outcry spills out. Don't get us excited and give us flat boring content. If the Droid Invasion is nothing but Droideka looking droids that act the same as a probot droid, you will be doing the professiona GRAVE injustice. Can the armor go beyond light? What kind of fire power can they have? Will this Droid Handler Profession (if the creation of one is still on the table at present) be even worth the bother to go into?! These are the answers we want, not devs saying "Ohh, just wait, the Droid Invasion will change the way players do battle" then we get nothing but diifferent framed droids that act and perfomthe same andshow little to no difference. How about actually giving the binary droid an ability besides being used as walking advertisements? What in heck are they even for anyway?! Man, we will be highly sadden if the Droid Invasion, at the end of it's 2 part publish push, be nothing but hot air coming out the devs mouths.

There more than likely will not be much of an update on the list of DE items in Publish 7 until after TH gets back from his much needed vacation.

I don't want to slight anyone vacation, but this is barely two months after his vacation for xmas, and I know I didn't get a week there... I can only imagine how much rougher this process will go without our TH to defend the players. Grumble Grumble Grumble...SOE...Grumble Grumble Higher more TH's!

Let me tell you this, we absolutely LOVE our jobs. And we LOVE this game. We are dedicated to doing whatever we can to enhance your play experience. And it usually only takes one fan's blood to drift off...

I am unclear on one issue...

does this mean that there will be a 30 sec delay anytime we call a pet/vehicle/droid or only when we call them outside of a camp or city?

I would like some clarification. This is or is not the combat overhaul? All I see is some attention going to the carbineer. Nothing mentioning pikeman, pistoleer? The combat overhaul has been the dev excuse for not getting around to fixing broken professions. Is this due in publish 7 or publish 8 or whenever you get around to it? What is the point of fixing carbineer specials when you are going to do an entire overhaul to the system?

This thread refers specifically to Droid Engineer stuff in Publish 7.

They can't fix anything without screwing doing somthing stupid. as if we don't have enough delays trying check teh quality of the latest spawn, waiting for the inside if buildings to spawn, waiting for mobs to spawn, waiting for buildings to spawn:

There is a 30 second delay after you call for a vehicle/mount/pet/droid before it will generate.

They put a 1 minute delay on calling. They don't need no stinking delay on it showing up!!! We get enough of that crap with all the lag!

I think the publish notes for Pulish 7 are...wonderful. It reminds me of the old days of UO where things REALLY changed in an update, not just the tweaks and nerfs we have seen here to date.

Runesabre is the difference, mark my words. This is not devotion, its just the plain truth. This game needed a developer lead like him and now he's arrived cant you all feel the difference?

I absolutely love the new attitude, the new willingness to talk and feedback, and most of all the new willingness to LISTEN to us. Rune was always famous for actually listening. If anyone thinks he's just another red name, go have a look at the Image Design forum (of all places) and follow the link he posted there. Awesome stuff (and in case anyone wonders--yes, I do understand thet level of mathematics :smileywink

This is the DE time in the sun, lets make it positive and get good things done..maybe not all we want ..but a lot can be done with a positive attitude.

Ok thats my positive bit - now a question or two

A. Is the repair module (I know the LE repairdroid is broke but nm) being replaced by a kit..cos it should NOT be. The repair droid is (should be) there to repair Black damage..it should remain so.

B. Is the famed Droid (lets keep it clear to new visitors) 'Droid Stimpack') Kit really coming? At last ?

C: Vitality? just an open minded question on this..can we get something here?

D: ok, the biggie..max 6 combat modules? Please not in an R3. Change the Probot at the very least, and have it have 6 combat module sockets..dont let us have fighting Astromechs please. Its just silly.

E. Finally, nothing specific, but please consider slicing, survey and Harvester management droids. These are the BIG issues that make the game not-fun but just like RL work . The proposals in the post I must say I like, but exploding MSE I think is perhaps verging on silly. If nothing else make it a new model please (thats a sop as well to the Canon Crowd)

F: If we are now to be allowed a CL10 droid AND a CL10 poke..umm Creature 'pet'....then why not 2 CL10 droids as a CHOICE instead? Maybe the second is Utility only...you know..what we have been asking for for all time..Repair Droid heals our Droid..not other peoples exclusively

I've rambled long enough..but one thing is worth saying again..Runesabre makes a lot of difference.

Cheers DE Peeps

Nice post, and bravo on point D! I was thinking the same exact thing. From the way things are worded now, and R class droid loaded up with combat modules would kick a maxed out probot's posterior. This seems silly. I guess a more in depth explanation is needed. Perhaps combat modules won't fint in general socket modules as we now know them, but I'm worried about that.
