I think you are forgetting one key factor here, when comparing the resource to time aspect. 80k of ore is a lot more time consuming to harvest then 80k of steel, simply because of the lowered percentage rates of harvesting. In most cases, it will take a person twice as long to pull 100k of Ore as it will from someone to pull 100k of Steel.
Secondly, many hundreds of people will more than likely hit glowy status as soon as this publish goes Live. I am 99.9% sure that once this happens, there will be a mad dash, by many crafting houses, to buy up as much grinding material as they can find, simply because they are able to visit the Village. Its funny what kind of effect the chance being able to unlock will do to some people.
I also need to point out that it has already been suggested that the end of recursive macros and Lot swapping will soon be upon us. When this happens, especially the end of lot swapping, the price on resources will once again increase and resource surplus will decrease.
One last item to think about. Now that empty vendors will start disappearing, not only from the world map, but also from shops - due to being empty - the hunt for stocked resource vendors will become slightly easier and less time consuming.
Just my thoughts on the situation at hand.

I kind of disagree on the Ore harvesting thing. High % of GOOD ore or the ore you are looking for may be hard to find. Yet finding high % of crappy ore isn't. I can easily find a 70% + concentration of ore, have evne found 80's. Of course it is never the ore that you want, but if it's for grinding, who cares?
Recursive macro killing, wont kill grind crafting unless they nerf the UI interface, which it doesn't look like they are doing.
Killing lot swaps is 100% needed, it really annoys me when I see fields of Harvestors in prime locations that never move. Hopefully they do it right. People do play on different servers. They just need to set a limit of say 20 lots PER ACCOUNT, with 10 on one server. This will make the largest % go away.
Either way it wont bother me, I don't use lot swaps, I just have way to many accounts. Resources are easy, time is the killer.
