Thread: Greed The real reason why some want to keep DE a so-called pure crafter class.

Hmmm "inflated prices"?

Inflated pricesis paying out 130,000 credits for a large building that just sits there an stores 150 items.

Inflated prices is paying 100,000 credits for a full suit of composit armour that, really, doesn't make much difference at all in combat.

Inflated prices is paying 26,000 credits for a T21 rifle that does the same damage as a 6,000 credit FWG pistol

Inflated prices is NOT paying 25,000 credits for an R2 unit that can; allow you to heal, allow you to craft high-end objects in the wild, store 10 more items, store 150 data objects and repair other droids.

DE was designed as a profession that "BUILDS" items to "SELL".

CH was designed as a profession that "TRAINS" items a BE "BUILDS" to "SELL". You can't compare them in the way they have been compared here.

If DE was ever meant to be this combat profession so many people now want it to be, it would have been called "Droid Controller"

I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that what this profession really needs right now is a sense of proportion.

Droid Engineers will only lose trade if everyone who wants a combat droid becomes a DE themselves.

A DE-only combat droid that is less good than the pet a CH would get after investing the same number of skill points will not bring hordes of powergamers into the Droid Engineer profession. All the powergamers will stay with CH.

The presence of a (hypothetical) DE-only combat droid, that is less good than the equivalent 'skill-point investment' CH pet, does not force a DE character to go into combat, and need not affect their playstyle.

Iwant combat droids to exist and to be of reasonable power. I recognise that a certification system is required forsuch a thingto be balanced. I also want to be able to use one of these droids myself, whether or not non-DEs of whatever skill set also get to use them, meaning that I want to be able to get the certification for my own droid whilst not having to drop my Droid Engineer skills or Master Artisan in order to get the points to do so. If that means that I have to grind a combat profession to get that certification, that's okay, provided that I can do that with my remaining skill points. Of course, I'd much prefer for the certification to be built into DE, even if it can also be obtained by other means.

What's wrong with that?

I feel that it isn't greed to want to make droids that everyone can use. Droids are just plain cool, wouldn't it be more greedy to keep them to ourselves?

When I was a DE, I never sold a droids. I tried once but it didn't work out. I had fun trying because my character magically changed into a used car salesman. I used to make them for myself, my friends and people that I thought could use a droid and helped me in some way. Before anyone says I'm one of the people who ruins it for others I'd like to say that my droids weren't the best and I was picky about who I gave them to.

Scout is combat support. They throw traps that do status effects(in combat), and take the bones and hides for tents to rest in(after combat). Until mounts come out(and work), it's almost a necessity to have Scout for the exploration stats but afterwards people will only really need it for support.

CH is a strange mix, for one they definately aren't crafters but they can be merchants when they sell pets. Whether or not they're combatants depends on if they use the attack command. The first moment they use it, they're a combat class. So unless the specific individual is a creature salesman or just sits in town saying "Bobo trick1" "Bobo trick2" over and over, then they most likely are a combat CH.

I quit the profession after the big patch last month. My stuff was broken and I wasn't having fun while my commando roommate on the other side of the room was happily blowing things up with the rest of my RL friends. If DE's turn into droid handlers, I won't be coming back. Taking pride inthe stuff that you make for others is what crafting is all about.

Isn't it greedy to want to impose your view of DE over others people's?

Greed isn't just confined to credits.

Why is it some seem to be ignoring what the Combat DEs are saying ?

We are not saying ALL combat droids should be DE only..

WE ARE SAYING ONE OF THEM SHOULD BE, THIS NOT PRECLUDE OTHER COMBAT DROIDS FOR SELLING.

My question is, why does it HAVE to be a combat droid, why not offer some options? Why not allow Master Droid Engineers to have a droid THEY can decide its function... something that gives us options. Then, if you want your combat droid... go nuts, but if you dont... you can create a droid that works for you.

There is NO reason one side has to win and the other has to lose. Make this special droid customizable, and allow the individual droid engineer to decide what they want to do with it. That way EVERYONE can stop pushing their vision on someone else.

Who says we are going to get more than one new combat droid? If we only get one do you want it to be DE-only?

Devs so far have been adamant that they are not adding any new droids. What makes you think that we are going to get several new ones, just because we ask for them?

Besides that, fora DE-only droid to special it will have to be better than anything other players get right? And devs are in the process of substantially nerfing CHs and watering down pets, right? So what makes you think that any droid we get will be powerful in the least?

Fact is, if we get LUCKY and get 2 new droids, the non-DE one will have to ge gimped into worthlessness to be less powerful than the DE-only one (because the devs will not give us a powerful DE-only droid).

We are not arguing with you over nothing, we are arguing with you over reality. Reality = we will NOT get more than one or two new combat droids, and having a DE-only droid is the same as having all combat droids DE-only. Clicking your heels 3 times and saying "I'm gettinga bunch of new droids" isn't logical, and basing any change to the class on that illogical premise is a bad idea. We will end up getting something that doesn't adhere to anything any of us asked for.

You can disagree...I really don't care. I will, however, come back here to gloat when we get TH's new proposal and it includes only less than 2 new droids and gimpy non-DE droids. After that, I will have nothing better to do because our class will still be broken.
