I am all for fixing the uxp bug and adding more working droid content, but you have to be kidding if you expect the droid crafting xp requirements to be dropped so that you can level to master droid engineer in a day or two. Try to remember thatthis game is about the processof becoming a well rounded character. If you are going to stay up day and night for a week straightfirst grindcrafting muzzles thengrind crafting mouse droids, fine. That's your prerogative. But don't expect the devs to make that enjoyable for you. It's just not how the game was intended to be played. I am a droid engineer and am having alto of funexploring other various professions while working my way up different skill trees. I think it would be a real shame if the devs lowered the droid crafting xp requirements and there were 100's of master droid engineers running around.

I'm not really there yet so I'm basically ignorant and can only respond to the claims of others. Based on those claims I have these opineons.

I've heard we can only "weild" 1 droid at a time where as the creature handler can "weild" up to 3. I'd be happy with only 1 at the beginning of the class but by Master DE we should be able to "weild" 3; maximum 2 of a single type ie ... 2 combat droids and 1 medic droid etc.

There should be limitations to the types and qualities of droids that others can use. I don't think any kind of combat droid should be usable by any class other than DE. Perhaps limited to protocal, mechanic and medic droids for non DE would be appropriate. Also non DE should only be able to use what can be made on perhaps the second tier of our skill tree; for example lets say there's class 1-4 medic droids and they heal more as the class rating goes up to 4. Only class 1-2 should be available to non DE; a system like this would add incentive to play a DE for the better droids and for combat droids.

I think that only DE should be able to repair droids; and only those that they are qualified to build.

I don't care much about the EXP issues although usually the players have a good idea what needs to be adjusted. My only concern is that the powergamers may intend to make the class too easy. On the other hand building 500 mousedroids is pretty lame to be honest. At least give us a low end combat droid to make it interesting.

Well all of these things may be ingame or planned for patching. I dunno, I tried to find info on it before i posted but I just don't have that much time to waste. Seems easier to just get corrected on my errors than do the research. I hope things work out for the best. Also the developers DO read these posts and they DO know that DE are in the game; I'm just betting they haven't figured out exactly where they want the class to go at the moment. It would be a shame to see every player on the server owning a droid. Maybe thats the problem they're trying to work out.

Last night I got Novice DE. Quickly before bed I harvest some inert gas and bust out a few medical Mice. I made less than 10 inside of 10 min. I got almost 2k exp for this! This is way easy! Compared to all the dang muzzles I had to make to get here, this is a breeze!! That 2k took little time, little resources, and was an easy gain. It was a long road getting here, and it will be a long raod to the end, but dont make it any easier!

I think we should make a post in the SWG Discussion forum challenging the developers' concern. The body would say

"Holocron, you say that you read new topics. Well, if you or hte other developers do have any interest in helping the Droid Engineering profession, you will respond to this topic. If you don't, then maybe you should simply remove the profession from the game."

I myself don't think the XP levels are too high for the droid engineering class, but I do think the XP gained from each droid is wrong. I mean, what's the point of becoming a Droid Engineer when you will probably get more business as a weaponsmith which requires much less XP? Or what about an armorsmith?

It's not about making it easier to get up the droid engineer tree. It's about not having to grind out enough mouse droids to supply the entire server to get one bubble. Really there are NO other options to get that first box in DE. Make droids take more components. Make those components take more resources. Basically, make the mouse droid take longer to build. And then give us more xp for it. That way i don't have to grind neverending numbers of them.

A good example of this is the bone armor in the engineering tree. You have to make a number of fiberplast panels, and a bone armor segment for each piece. But it doesn't feel like grinding to me, cause that all turns into one snazzy bone chestplate that I can then SELL for thousands of credits. And I don't have to make thousands of "end items" to advance.

The really sad thing is droid engineer xp is from what I can tell balanced on the beta xp gain from advanced droid frames. For those who are not to blueprints 2 yet advanced droid frames take 150 steel and 70 fiber plat and give out about 440 xp.

People were grinding the living heck out of these in beta and from what I can tell these are why we got ranked only second behind architects in xp needed. The problem is up to that point nothing we make really gives anywhere near architect xp. Architects are still zipping up in levels quickly because the stuff they make gives huge payouts as long as you have the resources the major limiting factor being resources. For droid engineers if you don't follow one specific path your xp gains are terrible.

Until it is changes the only thing I can recommend is do whatever it takes to get to blueprints 2 and then grind those advanced droid frames to get the xp you are being punished for.

First of all I think making droids take more minerals would be anoying and it would make the profession even more worthless than it is anyways. Speaking for me and several of my droid building friends the system as it is is perfect exept for the UXP and the fact that battle droids...well...how should I put this...are $#@&.

For the Amount of time it takes to make a good Droid Eng. I could make a decent animal trainer and animals are by FAR!!, WAY more powerfull than droids.

I say eaither make Droid Eng. a more worthwile profession by either making it easier to master or making the bots that are available to us MUCH stronger.

Thats a very good point Sirwalter. If the system you propose was put into game I think it would benifit the profession and make it stronger. You system doesnt make it EASIER to be a DE, it takes the same amount of time and materials, just less random clicking and hoards of useless droids. What I dont like is when it seems that people just want this profession to be easier.

Someone asked me what droids I could make, as soon as I said MSE, he said useless... Maybe if we had at least 1 more droid to make, one that could be more combat oriented that could make it a better sell on the market to the combatants.

Just to clarify my statement. Do not change the XP, I totally accept the high Xp so we don't see Master DE or Weaponsmiths on the beginning of the second week of live. What I am asking is more droids in the novice box. Maybe even some tougher droids that can help in combat.
