Thread: Seekers...should we even bother?

I agree that these things are a pain to make. They aren't exactly hard, but they take components that could be used to make advanced droid brains, and the droids that require the advanced droid brains have much higher profit margins than the BH droids. but others have already pointed that out.

I've never had any trouble selling them when I do make them though. As a younger DE I got my main business started by selling seekers and arakyds at 10k and 12k a crate repsectively. I know that's higher than a lot of people charge, but they sold too fast at lower prices and I couldn't keep them stocked, so I raised theprice. I eventually ended up giving up on making the droids anyway becauseeven at 10k and 12k per crate, they stillsold so fast that I couldn't make them as fast as people were buying them.

I recently started making them again, and started up a new BH droid vendor. Within a couple weeks they were selling fast again. I may have to take the vendor down again if I can't keep up. I refuse to sell consumable items if I can't keep them in stock regularly. But so far I am able to keep up this time and still churn out combat droids as well.

On a side note: I've set up a side business buying AV-21 parts and reselling the finished speeders on a special vendor named "AV-TwentyOne Landspeeder". That little enterprise has shockingly begun to net me far more short term profit than I've ever seen. And I've never even visited the Corvette. lol.

Dude, you are freaking out too much about this issue. BH droids are not a pain in the ass at all. Just make a schematic for 1000 memory modules and 2 schematics for 2000 GP modules and you have 1000 seekers, also a few other resources in final production, you can do all of this in a factory.

The part that is even better is you will spend roughly 10-20k, depending on where you buy resources from, and most people can sell a crate of them which has 50 in each crate with stacks 10 seekers for about 8k each. Ok, for you mathematically challenged people out there, that comes out to 200 crates of seekers, which if you could sell all of these crates of seekers then you would be making about 1.6million credits. If you think thats not making alot of money...then you have a few screws loose my friend.

I have sold crates of seekers for 50k each to be honest, I know this sounds insane, but I have done it. I sold 4 crates for 200k last night. Thats probably the easiest 200k anyone could ever make.

In conclusion, if Seekers were put into vendors in the game, that would put DE's out of business. To be frank, thats VERY stupid to wish that. DE's need thousands and thousands of resources and same with credits to buy them with. Personally, I eat 100k of steel and 50k of fiberplast in a few hours from grinding ADV Droid Frames. So yeah, I think we want to have the advantage of seekers in our hands.

Unless you know something I don't, you can't make schems for 2000 gp modules. Unless you meant 2 schems of 1000 each to get 2k total, but that wouldn't work either, because it'd take 3000 to make 999 arakyds.

And even then you couldn't fit them all into the input hopper. That'd equate to 163 items, and the input hopper holds a max of 100. So you'd have to stop production and feed more ingredients.

Much simpler to just run 333 droids.

Do bother...

I sell:

1k per seeker/arakyd in crates of 5 = 5k per crate.

And I sell 40 crates at week atm = 200k... Maybe its not much for someone, but its cool for me

So I bother

Definately do bother. I am a "backpack" DE ala the mighty Woody and I don't play all that often. Without the sales of BH droids off my vendor, that happen when I am not logged on, I probably would not be able to keep myself in enough cred to maintain my structures. I am a DE for the fun of seeing people use my droids but the BH sales seem to pay the virtual bills quit nicely.

Wow! I couldn't disagree more.....

I sell 40 seekers/Arakyds weekly - regularly, and have often sold 100 over a weekend. I sell my seekers at 4500 the crate, arakyds at 9k the crate. I do at least 1 full run of seekers every other week, sometimes 2 runs (500 each). Arakyds 1 and sometimes 2 runs a month (325 or so).

It's not at all unusual for a seeker/arakyd sale to be followed by 1 or more droid sales. I offer them primarily as a loss-leader, but the truth is they're profitable!

I'd be truly bummed to lose that business!

I just made my first run of 100 of each and have sold 6 crates of each since I put them up for sale 12 hours ago. I'm not in a very heavily traveled area, any more, but I do have my Vendor listed on the map as Combat and BH Droids. I've yet to sale any of my 39 rated 'Kaboom' MSE messanger droids.....Which is ok, since I'm having a ton of fun using them myself.
