Thread: Ackis Droid FAQ v.3
Great catch!

As someone pointed out to me, this is actually a display bug. Take a droid with 2 Level 3 Armor plates that reads 40% Medium armor into battle. Track the damage that it recieves, by watching the damage spam above the droid. Then take a droid with 1 Level 6 or 2 Level 4 plates into battle and do the same. Make sure that you are attacking the same kind of creatures in both experiments. You should note that the later of the two droids takes significantly less damage than the first droid.

Why a 4 and 3 or a 5 and 2? Would a 4 and 2 work? or a 5 and 1 work? Could you explain this out a little for us new DE's?

Module Stacking clarification: You don't need to Level 4s to get the effect of a Level 6; you only need one 4 and one 3. Or a 5 and a 2. This applies to all modules that can be stacked (Armor, storage, medical, etc.)
This is the way it works:
When you add the second module, it acts as if it were a module of one rating less. Add the ratings together, and you get the Effective Rating of the two stacked modules.
For example, you stack a Med-4 with a Med-3. The Med-3 is effectively a Med-2. 4 + 2 = 6 -> So the combination is the same as a Med-6. If you stacked a second Med-4, it would be effectively a Med-3. 4 + 3 = 7, but the best you can get is Med-6, so the extra bit is wasted.
This applies to all stackable modules, including armor.
Make sense?
Excellent post Ackis. As a fellow Master Droid Engineer, very good post.
However I must say this...after a collation and your hardwork in putting up that FAQ on droid engineering it goes to show ONCE again that Droids are particularly useless piles of junk and S.O.E. should be ashamed for ever putting them in the game in such a dismal fashion.
Of course about one year into the game we can expect them to be 'buffed'.
I'm skeptical. But I'll hold onto the profession and see how it goes.
Thanks Ackis. Your hard work is appreciated, even if SOE's blunder on DE isn't.
Thanks Sacin! ![]()
Droids aren't useless though... the crafting stations and item storage are great! ![]()

Module Stacking:
Lower level modules can be stacked together to improve the effectiveness of the overall module. Three level 3 modules can be stacked together to get the effectiveness of one level 6 module. Two level 4 modules can be stacked together to get the effectiveness of one level 6 module.
Personality chips:
Three types of droids can have personality chips: LE Repair, Surgical and Protocol. The personality chips affect what is said by the droid (random messages by the droid) as well the text of the conversational interface. There are six types of personality chips: Normal, Stupid, Sarcastic, Prissy, Worshipful, Slang and Geeky. Droids that accept personality chips have a special slot for them. The do not take up a module slot.
Any droid that has more abilities in it then module slots has been made using an exploit.
Probots:
These droids have a damage of about 50 ranged. They are currently the best attacking droid. The HAM on them ranges from 810 to 820, and they can have armor. The advanced model has room for two module slots. This droids can attack.
Excellent and concise as usual, Ackis!
A couple of minor details:
Module stacking: It only takes a pair of level 3 modules to get the same effect as a level 6 module, at least for Item Storage. I used to routinely get 10 spaces of item storage out of a pair of level 3 modules. I haven't bothered doing the test with Medical modules or Data modules because I've always been able to make Level 6 Medical modules and no one has ever ordered Data capability in any of my droids. Note: I did always experiment my Level 3 Item Storage modules up as high as possible to get this result, so if your guide is not meant to reflect the inclusion of experimentation then you're fine as-is.
Personality chips: I think it would be a good idea for this sectionto mention that not all of the personality chips work correctly. As I recall (off the top of my head) the Geeky and Slang chips do not work. (The full list of bugged chips is in Gorantoth's thread.) I have a vague recollection that either the Prissy or the Sarcastic chip doesn't work either, but I'm not sure. I rarely use anything except the Worshipful chip myself, which is why I'm a little vague on the exact list of bugged chips.
Extreme nit-pick, disregard if you aren't **edit**
: Any droid that has more abilities in it than module slots has been made by exploiting a known bug. Exploit is more correctly used as a verb. I know, I know... I said you could ignore it if you aren't **edit**. ![]()
Probots: Probots now do 70-80 damage. I have been amazed at how much more efficient my post-patch Probots are compared to my pre-patch Probots. This despite the fact that damage per second has theoretically gone down. If by "50 damage" you mean their approximate effective damage, I think you should say that in this section. The same applies to the DZ-70's "30 damage".
