Thread: From a Weaponsmith How would DE's feel about this.
Shian_Tavkin wrote:Interesting ideas
I posted elsewhere that this issue gives rise to 2 potential problems, but just to reiterate:
a. Droid weapons currently do not decay with use (which is just as well because....)
b. Once a droid is built, modules cannot be replaced.
Now I do think there is some merit in adding weaponsmith weapons into droids (it would need a ton of discussion) but for it to work properly:
The weapon would need to decay AND be repairable as personal weapons now are
AND
The weapon module would have to be a changeable module AFTER the droid is constructed. This has a whole can of potential worms attached to it, not least of which is to limit it only to weapons modules and only do-able by a DE for a suitable fee (income....theres a novel idea lol)
Just my thoughts, don't shout at me /smile
Theres some really great ideas there I love the idea of DE's being able to swap over their weapons and add and remove upgrades. Weapons take a long time to degrade by the way so it wouldn't be to harsh to have it like tha ton a droid, but like you said only if you can replace it.

I dont disagree that interdependance is a great idea, actually i support it greatly, But the question is do you? OR by your comments do you just want another money source.
Seriously be fair with this,
Why should i depend on you but the opposite doesnt hold true?
So yes i support your idea, but i aslo want some of the dependant life style in return.
Like I said in the other part of this thread it shouldn't matter why I want it but if you want it and if it would make Star Wars a better game. But for the record I don't acutally play my Weaponsmith that much at the moment I've got a Bounty Hunter on another server that has no crafting skills whatsoever (I wanted a break from all crafting resource hunting) But DE is a class I would consider playing if they made it fun. To me having dependencys would be fun and I don't think Weaponsmiths would charge much for any items you needed as long as they didn't take that many resources.
"I don't think Weaponsmiths would charge much for any items you needed as long as they didn't take that many resources."
If you really believe that I've got lots of things to sell you.
Again, we have more dependancies than any other crafting class. I do not want one single more dependancy. You want to help DEs ? I'll say again... make weapons and armor depend on US. Then understand what we are trying to tell you.
I'll agree to buying components to build combat droids from every other profession, when every other profession is required to buy droid parts to make all their combat items....
I'm not trying to be a jerk, but DE are already the most dependent on other professions to build even mid-range droids.
I agree that the idea 'makes sense' and it would be cool if we could actually make something like this work for us.
But finding reliable sources at reasonable prices is almost impossible.
We really don't need any more of that.
Sorry.
However, I wouldn't mind having to buy crates of barrels or something that's easily produced for highend droid weaponry.

Exactly - I don't wanna have to buy a whole rifle from a weaponsmith to equip my droid.

Well thats what I had in mind something pretty easy that we can sell cheap in crates. It would probably help the DEs to be in contact with weaponsmiths more also I think we'd be more likely to buy a droid from you then especially if perhaps you had some more useful crafting droids. And we wouldn't be ripping you off because we'd be looking to buy droids off you as well.
It will be interesting to see if the devs do go the dependency route for combat droids. I kinda think they will especially if only DE's can use combat droids.
