Already having to rely on Architects, Armorsmiths and Master Artisans (quite heavily) I am loathe to ask for more interdependance.

If they were to add dependance on weaponsmiths I would definitely want a lessening of the reliance on Master Artisans.

So in summary, yes... IF they reduce our dependance on Master Artisans

The problem is I can't think of many weapons that would need a droid part. However I think there is a problem with crafting droids I'm a Master Weaponsmith and I don't have a crafting droid. Theres no point me having one because they aren't as good as the private crafting stations and you can't craft all the weapons with them because they act like public crafting terminals.

What they should do is to be used with a private crafting station and give a bonus to experimentation that way every Master Weaponsmith would have a droid and they could probably afford them too.

Thanks Vampiric_Hoshi i'll check that out.

If there were self-mobile artillery pieces, they could require Droid Motive Systems, or Advanced Droid Motive Systems for higher-end weapons systems.

A targetting computer could require a Droid Brain, or an Advanced Droid Brain, once again for higher-end systems.

Probably each of those rather hybrid machines would want Droid Sensor packages as well.

I love that idea but Weaponsmiths aren't going to get anything for a LONG time. We unlike most proffession work pretty ok

It would be great though to be able to craft some really big weapons that took a ton of resources and a ton of components thats why its quite hard to advance in weaponsmith we're forever crafting small items.

Sure as long as your top weapons require somthing from us in return

Not meaning to single you out but theres been a lot of posts like that on this thread I don't think there is any need for that attitude this isn't about making my class better/worse than yours but about trying to make the game better. Lets be realistic there aren't going to be changes to Weaponsmiths in the near future. So if your combat droids do depend on some Weaponsmith or Armorsmith items Weaponsmiths aren't going to have any new items or changes that require DE stuff anytime soon.

Also keep in mind that some of combat droids you'll be getting only DE's will be able to use as I understand it so I don't think its so harsh for them to require items from other classes.

I think one way they can add Weaponsmiths depending more on DE's pretty quickly is by making droids more useful for crafting even if that means nerfing Weaponsmiths that don't use droids for crafting.

Obi007, a droid crafting station is EXACTLY the same as personal crafting stations. They allow you to craft all the same top-level items.

They *CAN* be as good as personal crafting stations, however there are two issues with it;

  1. Master DE currenly only gets 5 points of experimentation, which limites how good we can make things. This IS getting changed to 10, but who knows when?

  2. They work on a different "rating". A personal crafting station may appear to have an efficiency of 45, which is considered "good" I believe? The equivelant number on a droid crafting station is about 2.

There was a whole thread on the crafting station issue a few weels back, and a few people had over 50 people compare droid crafting stations to a private crafting station. Many seemed to find that droid crafting stations gave them BETTER results than personal.

Please note: If you are within range of a public crafting station, it over-rides the droid crafting station. This may be why you thought they only allowed the construction of the same items maybe?

Ah I've never actually used a droid for crafting but was told by a DE that they act just like a public crafting station, which I know is limited from making some of the top weapons.

I hate the way crafting works its stupid that we have to do tests on items to find out how important they are or not for crafting I really think that needs to get looked into and make so you can tell how items effect crafting rather than having to come to the forums to find out.

I still think you should ask for droids to offer a more obvious benefit for crafting even if its just one experimentation point and nerf a Master Weaponsmith down to 9 if they don't want to give us 11 with a droid. If that was the case just about every Weaponsmith would buy a droid.

I agree.

The funniest thing is that even after a LOT of testing on private and droid crafting stations, no one is still sure if its rating even effects any crafting outcomes and what those outcomes maybe.

Some think it decreases critical failures... others say it made no difference. Some say it increases the chances of successful experimentation, others say it made no difference. Some say it actually effects the overal quality of crafted items (excluding experimentation) others say it made no difference.

In short... we have no real evidence to suggest what these values really mean and what they effect...

But the bottom line is; a droid crafting station allows you to construct higher-difficulty-rating items in the wild ... which to certain professions that rely heavily on "on-call" crafting such as tailors, armoursmiths and medics .. this is a VERY important tool.

However, this is kind of degregating from your original posts...

I've never been a weaponsmith so i don't know how many (and what) components something like a T21 requires.. but I'm sure it could use something that is used in the construction of a droid that only DE's can build? I dunno, maybe a droid storage module or something?

im all for making the process more realistic so we already use armorsmiths, getting droids with better blasters heck ya!

I think one of the Weaponsmith weapons used to require a targetting computer I think that was from DE ? They removed it though when they made some of the commando weapons easier to craft. They maybe should of made it so the weapons required less rare resources but should of left the targetting computer in there.

If our class was not barely working, as it is now, and that combat droids would be a very specialiazed area of concentration, then yes, I say get components from Weapon Smiths. But until they fix us, and give us some real options, then NO. If they give us some major fixes, and more options then in a year or so, they could give us 'uber' droids to build that require stuff from ALL crafting professions would be great. It makes the top droids more challenging to make. But until they fix our class, I say don't make it any harder for us then it already is.

Interesting ideas

I posted elsewhere that this issue gives rise to 2 potential problems, but just to reiterate:

a. Droid weapons currently do not decay with use (which is just as well because....)

b. Once a droid is built, modules cannot be replaced.

Now I do think there is some merit in adding weaponsmith weapons into droids (it would need a ton of discussion) but for it to work properly:

The weapon would need to decay AND be repairable as personal weapons now are

AND

The weapon module would have to be a changeable module AFTER the droid is constructed. This has a whole can of potential worms attached to it, not least of which is to limit it only to weapons modules and only do-able by a DE for a suitable fee (income....theres a novel idea lol)

Just my thoughts, don't shout at me /smile

I ought also to have said this should only be considered WAY down the road....

AFTER we have our profession working

AFTER we get our new combat Droids (not modules)

AFTER our current Droids are fixed to work (by this I mean cluster module exploit and specific modules for specific droids aka the end for all time of SuperMSE (tm)

Just to be clear

Sorry if it sounds harsh, but frankly weaponsmiths are the richest class in the game. We have suffered thru the entire first phase of the game, and as we now get attention, you want in on it?

I dont disagree that interdependance is a great idea, actually i support it greatly, But the question is do you? OR by your comments do you just want another money source.

Seriously be fair with this,

Why should i depend on you but the opposite doesnt hold true?

So yes i support your idea, but i aslo want some of the dependant life style in return.
