Thread: Does SOE expect this to be my 2nd job?

I am still confused.
What I get from your second post is
I don't mind offering suggestions, but they better notASK me for my opinion.
I am really not trying to be argumentative, I just do not follow what you are saying. Maybe it is still too early in the morning for me :>
Either the finer arts of reading comprehension elude you, you are just that obtuse, or you are being a pain.
It's clear he is comparing his experience to other video games. EA doesn't ask its users or expect them to report problems with Battlefield 1942, they have testers that ferret out the problems and patches are made. MMO's are the only video games that get pushed out not finshed and this is happening more and more. Domestic made cars sucked int he 1980's untill they were forced to make better cars by competitors. Hopefully either a class action lawsuit or a smart developer with a finished game at time of retail will force folks to make responsible games.
Another thread exemplifying ignorance on behalf of the player base.
Perhaps in the future there will be an effort on behalf of the individual players to educate themselves prior to posting falsehoods, personal beliefs as fact, and other waste of space commentary.
I am so pissed at the lack of respect on behalf of the players who have NO development experience, and therefore NO experience in any aspect of the development business in this aspect. There are procedures to follow, process lists to follow, and ways to go about doing things that MUST be adhered to.
Not that any of that means anything to the kids and immature adults who post these types of threads.
Now let's mention selfishness. Is it so painful as you witness a bug to type /bug, enter 8 fields of information and then a short paragraph explaining it? It takes like, oh, 4 minutes. Max. Why is there this prevalent commentary on these boards that it is such a setback to the player to help out?
My god what a bunch of selfish crap. So you're giving someone 0.42 cents each day for a Star Wars themed sandbox to do anything you want in, and you think that entitles them to provide you perfection, which HAS NEVER and WILL NEVER exist in computer software development. Period.
Anyone who tells you they have worked on a software program with no bugs in it is not only wrong, but a fool.
Grow up.
You're embarassing yourself.
I couldn't agree with you more Scuddbacca! Cheers mate.
Consequently, I can't think of a single MMOG that had this many issues 4 months after release. Even WWII-Online was better off after 4 months.
Personaly, Im starting to think SOE has moved 99% of thier Devs to work on "Thier" EQ2 project.
blah....

When I get a paycheck every two weeks, I don't see SOE anywhere on it. What I do see is $30 (ironically, two accounts because DE is so broken) from that paycheck going to SOE. Just to make sure I have all the expectations in a row...
I pay $30 a month to SOE, and what I expect is to have fun playing a game during my free time. From the posts I have seen by TH, it seems as if they expect me to spend my free time gathering up all the information they need to fix a product that shouldn't be broken. I don't mind offering opinions and providing insight on the boards, but when you start asking me to do the job you are paid to do, I have a problem with that. Especially when you dangle the "if you do the work for me, it will get fixed faster" carrot in front of our profession. The comment about us being the experts is a little insulting too. Yes we play the game, but you guys have access to software tools, hardware and coding that we only wish we could get our hands on.
I have heard the argument that all MMORPG's are like this, and you won't find anything different. I am also aware that no one forces me to be a DE in this game. I think those are excuses rather than explanations personally. All I ask is that the DEV team remember that they are here to provide us with entertainment by producing and maintaining a quality game. We are not their gophers when it comes to information hunting on these boards, and they should treat us as customers not subordinates.
I second this! It's too bad the lawsuit against EA with UO didn't succeed. Then these clown publishing companies wouldn't be able to push out products well before they are ready, making us pay to continue the beta test.
two words... FINAL FANTASY
I bought it when it shipped the other day and I have to say.. I was gunna juggle SWG and FF but PFFFT!!! I cant get away from FF.
ITS STABLE
ITS BUG FREE
24 HOUR IN GAME GM SUPPORT
LOADS OF CONTENT
LOOKS GREAT
COMBAT IS VERY COOL
SPELL EFFECTS BLOW YOUR MIND!
so uh anyway... I still any playing both but... if SWG doesnt do something fast I see alot of people going to new games and FF is just the tip of the iceberg... Horizons cometh... WoW cometh... Dragon Empires Cometh...
Ok so anyway, its a VERY polished game and one can see this game was READY for a release and was actually PLAYABLE.
Now people will argue that a year ago it was released in japan... tsk tsk tsk I looked it out FF in japan was pretty smooth.
Granted the FF series has been out a long time so they had alot to build off of... but still the game is VERY finished and VERY polished... wish I could say that for SWG. I sooo wanted this game to be badass.... although i think alot of us are seeing it looks like sony bit off more than they could chew, and now its folding on them and they are just cutting corners to apease the masses..
It sucks
