One can argue that the exploit was created because it was INTENDED for clusters to go into general, and thus created an infinitie loop.

One can also argue that the world is carried on the back of a turtle, and they would be just as right.

When the game went live cluster modules were not intended to go into general module slots. Perhaps once in beta they were suppose to but by the time the game went live that had change. This has been covered before in previous posts but the basic proof of the flaw is essentially this:

If you are able to place socket clusters in general module slots then that makes a general module slot more useful than a socket cluster slot. General module slots would be able to hold general service modules as well as socket clusters while socket cluster slots will only be able to hold socket clusters. Additionally the best droid becomes the advanced R2 which is able to hold 9 modules and not the advanced R3 which can only hold 6, a number of modules that can be achieved with a simple Advanced MSE.

No, it seems more likely that the bug was simply that Cluster Socket Modules could be placed in General Module slots. This creates both the nesting issues as well as a very odd progression chart.

I will, however, admit that I don't think we ever heard a dev flat out say what the exact bug was.

The exploit was nested clsuters...but due to a small set of whiners on these forums it got translated into all clsuters are evil and all clusters got nerfed. Can't fault SONY for not listening to their forums, just wish it were economically feasible for them to have refereed home drug tests administered to all those posting in the forums they plan on paying attention too.

An advanced R2 has one cluster slot, and two harness slots. An advanced R3 has two cluster slots.

The advanced R3 takes more materials, components and skills than the advanced R2 - plus those nasty dual advanced droid brains.

By your logic, though, the R2 should be able to hold a total of 9 modules, and the advanced R3 should be able to hold 6.

Sorry, no matter what, puttling a cluster in a harness slot, be that harness slot in the droid or in another cluster was just not the way it was designed.
