In response to this post in general: Drashk has to speak for DH as from his opinion, if we don't accept anything then they will whitewash over the "Droid Invasion" and completely forget about us. Or at least that's the general feeling I'm getting. He is trying to make the decision onis it better to get nothing but not have something no-one wanted, or ignore the people he's representing and get something that everybody is against.. but is something.

A very unenviable position, if you ask me. I'd have hated to be the one to make that decision. What's more, he has to do it without costing too many canceled DE accounts, or else he's out on his ear, finished with the correspondent position.

An unenviable position, but one that has a clear "right" and "wrong" course of action.

I'm sorry, but I've seen Drashk talk the talk, but he isn't walking the walk.

In one thread he says how he will support us and represent our needs (even going so far as to approve a "leaked" - LOL - posting from the corrispondent forums that demonstrated such).

In other threads, Drashk is telling people who come in to rant and insult DE's (and isn't even one themselves) that they have a "firm grasp on the situation", endorsing and defending the opposite of what the community has clearly said they want.

The right thing is to represent the community - not push personal views or use double-talk to try to get us to buy into the line of B.S. we have been given lately.

drashk cant represent a community that is against every idea but wants changes. on this board 90% are always against what is currently planned, no matter what. drashk is just doing his job giving results and ideas(not present yet) to the devs and the devs additional read the forum on their own to get the general feeling. but what do u think does it look like to the devs? what they get from the forums is a no,no,no. so ithink they wouldnt continuelistening to the forum or they will stop any work on des at all

Drashk,

I believe in you. I am concerned, however, that the viewpoint expressed here is sort of valid.

You've lobbyed for the community with the Devs that we overwhelmingly (via the results of my unofficial poll) did not want a DH/DM profession.

I know that you support this personally, however, and have said so in the past.

Your role, since you mentioned it before, is to take up the viewpoint of the profession as a whole.

With that being said, why are you trying to convince many of us (the 90+% that voted "No" on my poll) that a DH class is a good idea?

Should you not be standing firm with the player community that you are charged with representing?

I know that the Devs know (hopefully) know our feelings on this but it's pretty clear to me that the have a past habit of selective hearing.

The fact that you've taken up the charge to convince us that DH is the right answer (despite what the community yells and screams about it) is very telling to me personally. What is seems to indicate is that this WILL happen, irregardless of whatever other good idea/system/etc. that's put forth by a player.

Im going to have to support Drashk, I may not want or like the idea of a DH profession but if and when it comes I will ajust to it. I also give Drashk props for his job, they really threw him to the lions here. I won't be dropping the game just because the people who are makeing it and who own the right to it make a disision I disagree with. After all nothing is forever and everything changes with time and somewhere down the road there will be a brand new player who will wonder what was all the fuss about anyway. Most of all Im really getting sick and tired of the constant bickering and in fighting that has gone on in the last couple of days, DH is comeing and I for one am going to try to make the best of it, Im not going to punish a newbie DH for chooseing his/her profession just because I disagreed with its creation in the first place, I became a DH to make Droids and By the Force thats what Im gonna do.

Flame me, call me a sell out what ever, but a year from now when some kid picks up this game, picks DH because he/she thinks controling Droidinka is something really cool then wonders why every DE is angry at him/her, Im going to be there to sell em' there first droid and walk em' through the programing and be there friend.Thats why I play MMORPG's, to do something really cool and to help new players like I was helped when I first started playing.

Ok Im starting to rant ....sorry....Im ending it now.

I'm sorry Audio that you feel i came in to "rant and insult DE's". That wasn't the intent of my post, and i think you know that. I came here to seek feedback on DH from this community, nothing more and nothing less. No, I'm not a DE. I will be soon, however. Regardless, this issue is far larger then just one profession, as i'm sure you know. I've heard it repeated many times that "droids are starwars". Well, if droids make up starwars, thats bigger then just one profession. That calls for discussion and clarification from every profession in the game. Everyone gets a say in this.

No... All hope is not lost. He has the right to express his own opinion. He has the OBLIGATION to point out the ideas and opinions of the minority and to report the consensus of the majority. He has the sense to propose compromise... sounds like a good correspondent to me.

and drashk knows alot more about DEs than most others here on the forum. he knows about the problems about what is possible what the devs can do and what will affect the community in what way and so on. so lisening to him might not be wrong at all.

I wasn't going to post in this thread, because of the fact that each and every Correspondent that I have spoken to has come under fire from someone in their community for something that they have posted. I knew that when I decided to try for this position that something like this would happen, and yet I still wanted to be the Correspondent because I thought that I could help in some way. One thing that I think most can agree on is that since I became Correspondent there has been a substantial increase in information flow. The information may not be what many were hoping to hear, but it sure beats the 0 information that was here before. Out of everything that I have posted on the Correspondents forums, opening up better lines of communication has been one of my top priorities. Its going to take some time, but I think that the Correspondents are finally going to see a bit more of this information flow that should make quite a few a little bit happier.

Majority of what I post on the DE forum lately is aimed at trying to get people to look at different situations from more than one angle. I'm a 'writer' in my real life and tend to try and think out the entire story in my mind before I even put pen to paper. (Needless to say yet I do so anyway, I have many books yet to be written :robotwink I'm also considered, by those that I know, to be a person to turn to when a dispute needs to be settled.

I'm not trying to convince anyone that my point of view is correct. I'm just trying to make sure that at least some people are taking the time to consider what it is that they are asking for. I'd much rather be wrong in what I foresee then to be right and get hit by the nerf bat, repeatedly.

All I can say Drashk, is "thanks" for taking the heat and remaining (semi) sane about it.

I knew it would be a tough job, and while that didn't REALLY play into my initial decision to excuse myself from the running, I have to admit I'm glad not to be wearing your shoes.

Besides, I have pretty big feet, and they'd probably pinch my toes.

I support Drashk. Its an insane position to be in. No matter what things arent going to turn out pretty, and someone will always hate him. He can not, and should not, disregard his opinion. He is part of the community too, and his voice counts just as much. Its not like he's saying one thing to us, and another to devs, he told us what he thought.

Besides, the decision is not up to him. Even with Runesabre's post, its clear they still are going down that path. What can Drashk say that he hasnt already said, and that each member of the community hasnt already said 100 times? Its like the old SnL skit, for Iraq... "You will not cross the line of death!" crosses line. "This, THIS is the line of death..." a new line in drawn, a new line crossed.

How many times can you say no? when the dev's keep saying yes.

Answer, as many as you want, but dont be shocked when the answer is still yes.

So do what you need to do. Change professions, cancel your account, accept whats coming and adapt, or have some allegorical fun.

But I dont think its right to blame poor old Drashk. When all is said and done, we shouldnt all hate each other over this sandbox.
