Like the saying goes about "an ounce of prevention", had they begun dialogue and "in concept" discussions on this whole thing prior to the start of the big DH debate, we wouldn't be in this mess. My biggest beef with this whole debacle is that Drashk gave them a flat out and on target warning about howthe DH ideawas going to be received by the community, yet they still pressed on with their pitch.

If Drashk didn't level with them beforehand and they didn't have a clue about how the community felt about the DH idea, then they'd have my sympathy about spending "a lot of money and effort" on these changes.

But because they didn't.... I don't.

But how long are we going to beat a dead droid?

Yes if they had asked us we could of told them. Just like if people went to the doctor more often they may find a benign cancer and take corrective steps before serious repercussions starts. Doesnt mean you dont start treatment once you discover the problem down the line. The "in-concept" didnt exist in the time frame, and Drashk wasnt picked until after work was already started. It became "this is what we are doing because we've already started doing it". It's what would have happened if not for a passing comment from TH, and you know where it went from there.

Its dead. Its done. Its over. We cant get that development time back, and bitching about losing that time isnt going to help.

oh, and i still dont see blame If anything i see "We listened to what you said, and despite our internal problems, you're getting what you want" and maybe a dash of "what more do you want? we said we were wrong already. sheeesh"

I feel sorry for TH, how often does he have to make those posts? C'mon people!

TH and I have meanced words a few times, but he has my respect due to the fact that hedoes the same thing that I do, but 100 times over. I deal with only 1 community, which is a big challenge. TH deals with 30+ communities, the DEVs, Correspondents, and Development threads.

  • We're going to hook you up mang, but its not a "glorious" or sexy update. Thats really the big divide here in terms of the thinking. The combat droids are a big, sexy change to the game. The problem is, regardless of what Holocron said in the past, the design of the game has changed and we cant add the droids in via the certification system. The combat system that was in place when Raph was here has been tweaked and changed. The new members of the live team have altered it to the point where its just not reasonable and requires the Droid Commander.

  • Wait wait... is the Droid Commander going in or not? Am I reading this right?

    1. We are not adding the Droid Commander.

    2. Adding the combat droids requires the DC.

Does this mean, if we want combat droids, we need the Droid Commander?

    Thanks Thunderheart.

We're a small community as demonstrated by your own player statistics. When our forum gets "invaded" by members of another profession because they think we've asked to have them nerfed, our own collective voice can sound rather feeble in comparison. That's at least a contributing factor as to why we sometimes overreact. In the last week or two we've had Creature Handlers and now Architects jumping down our throats. I hope it isunderstandable why we're a bit skittish.

I look forward to the overview!

I know that forum didn't exist then... and I know Sintrosi was our rep back then... I've been in here fighting for our profession for months and months. It could have been as simple as a redname starting a thread in September: ">CL10Droids, We Need Your Suggestions on How to Implement Them..." in the DE forum. It just never happened in any shape or form.... at least hearing (again)from TH that they're trying to improve the communication helps a bit.

Its dead. Its done. Its over. We cant get that development time back, and bitching about losing that time isnt going to help.

I agree... and we can also do without comments on how much "money and effort" these changes are going to take... sound fair?

oh, and i still dont see blame If anything i see "We listened to what you said, and despite our internal problems, you're getting what you want" and maybe a dash of "what more do you want? we said we were wrong already. sheeesh"

Well, I've been really trying to be positive lately.... really, I have. But the particular wording of that post really just pushed a wrong button. I guess I'll try to shut my yapper for now and just see how things pan out.

    Oh, and 1000 posts... yippee!

I'm guessing you don't watch his post count.

I'm around. Just trying to lay low a little. The negativity has been getting my down and I'm trying a new tactic of not posting my thoughts on every subject. I also recently started a 10 hour / 6+ day a week job. I may not be posting as much as I was, but I'm keeping up on my reading.

Well, if we were in the same room having a conversation over a cup of coffee, it would be easier. We would have tone of voice, facial and body inflection and a lot more communicative context. Without the benefit of being able to see each other while we communicate, it makes things difficult and much harder to interpret.

In a positive environment, it makes it easier to communicate.

There are a lot of posters who have really been trying hard lately - - Drashk has been really involved, TK421 and so many othersand I really appreciate it. We really appreciate it. It makes everyone's experience here more pleasant and more effective and that's really cool
