making money is not the point

the point is:

making the DE community importaint to the game, thus the developers.

as it is we are NOT importaint, to the game, or the Devs.

instead of giving up the game , I've decieded to roll with it and see what happens.

I have mulltiple crafters (thus characters) and by far the DE is the most neglected, and I belive whole heartedly the lack of support from the Devs is solely on the impact we make on the game as a whole.

take a step back and look objectivly at the game, and ask yourself were we rate, fairly low

CH's have provided pets to themselves and everyone non-CH in such plentitude that unless combat droids come out over powered and a nerf in wait, we wont make an impact on the game.

BE have provided a flooding of pets to non-CH's in such plentitude that unless combat droids come out over powered and a nerf in wait, we wont make an impact on the game.

Faction points provided a flooding of pets to non-CH's in such plentitude that unless combat droids come out over powered and a nerf in wait, we wont make an impact on the game.

DE's provide few small utility at an price that is not competetive with the afore mentioned,

PLUS! many of our products have been bugged or broken since the start, unlike the afore mentioned.

Yeah I'd have no problem if we made a required part. But if droids are so broken and vehicles will be so much better that would basicly be like completely replacing our proffession with somethng else.

Ok I'm done with the big red letter for now.

Well, the Devs ARE adding the Politicain profession soon, so I'm sure that they would consider making a new class for vehicles, and probably go with it.

Sorry I cant resist. Applesand oranges can be the same by calling them fruit. They can ALL be the same by calling them food. Don't you hate technical people?

DE will not be fixed by mutating it into some sort of quasi-automotive profession. My hunch is that most of us who stick with DE simply like the idea of building droids in SW, no matter how broke the profession currently is. We like DE and do not want table scraps thrown at us in vain appeasement.

If vehicles were to go to any profession, I think architect wouldbe the most (remotely) logical, under a stretched premise that vehicles are mobile structures.

What makes the most sense is having DE build some required and/or optional vehicle components. Guildance systems, fuel regulators, repair modules, i.e. anything that involves electronic decision making coupled with mechanical action woulld be ideal droid engineer contributions.

Okay, I'm getting a little tired of reading these Vehicle/DE opinions. I've been searching diligently for the original announcement, or maybe it was a following Q&A, regarding vehicles, but they (SOE) has made it disappear, so no such luck. I remember it also covered mounts and player cities.

They did say thatat first a couple vehicles will be put into the Engineering branch of Artisan (i.e. Swoop and 1 person speeders). Then a new elite profession will be added later. DEs will not be crafting vehicles (although they may build some components). Architects will not be building vehicles (although they may also build some components). There will be a new profession but they did not state what it will be called, for now it is safe to assume it will be Vehicle Engineer.

What's been said is this (from Q-3PO's net radio interviewa while back and some scattered developer posts over the last couple months):

  • Initial single-seat vehicles (the Speeder and Swoop Bike) will be crafted by Artisans posessing Engineering IV.

  • Later, passenger (multi-seat) and other more sophisticated vehicles will be added, and these will more than likely go to a new profession devoted to vehicle crafting, which would branch off Artisan Engineering.

  • The developers have said that they see the addition of new professions as a primary means to add new content to the game. Expect to see new professions paired with new content a LOT; this would be a logical choice for a content/profession paring.

Given all that, I honestly don't see DE having anything to do with vehicles. Maybe the elite vehicle crafting profession will require some DE components, or droids will somehow enhance vehicles, but that's probably not even on paper yet.

I personally think that DE becomingADVEngineers would be a great idea. It is my opinion that we grind the most out of everyother profession, and we deserve a boost. Now, I know that some of you think that we are Droid Engineers and that is what we should stay as. But if you look at it in perspective, we are the closest thing to mechanics.Architects, Armorsmiths, and weaponssmiths do not have to worry about using components like control units and the lot. I could be wrong for the weaponsmith though. We are the only class that requires our products to be repaired by repair droids, not repair kits like the weapons or armor. Having vehicles could be a good idea, but I also agree that it should not go to an extent that people come to us and ask, can we have a swooper bike and not for a adv probot or an r3 droid fully loaded with goodies. That is my 2 cents.
