and another thing, you only get droid combat XP when the droid does damage......this would be too easily exploited if you just got the XP while grouped (ala Krayt hunting parties)

I think the idea of a droid skill tree that relies solely on UXP is a very nice in theory. But if any DEs out there want to be able to make combat droids better then a non-ch pet (CL15) then it will never be more then a theory. I do not think the devs are going to want to let everyone be able to the best combat droid in the game. You are going to have to give up something in order to use the best combat droids, I am sure of that.

In addition, I doubt the devs will set things up so that certain professions are allowed to use certain droids. I mean the devs cannot make up their minds what a CH is. And how about BEs? No other crafter professionhas to go into the wildlet aloneget within 15m of a creature in order to make use of 1/2 of their abilities. Yet BEis a crafter profession. Should they be stuck with some kind of weakling probot (or whichever lower level combat droid is added to the game) just because they are are crafters?

I imagine the droid cert system will require some UXP (for combat droids anyway) and will require some amount of skill points. Quite frankly I would bet that the amount of skill points needed would start relatively small and increase quickly. And, even though I do not agree with it, I bet DEs will not be able to use their droid creations unless they pay for those certs.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bio-Engineering is still THE most broken profession. Yes, that's right. Even with the first fixes for bio-engineering half of skills produce products that are worse then what can be found in the wild. For the record, DE is not as broke as BE (stuff works it is just that a lot doesn't make sense).

While i agree that there should be a bunch more droids than creatures out there. I also realize that the dev have made creatures a part of star wars that will never go away. The only way to minimizethemis to put in droids that can out last any of the creatures. That will not happen. They nerf all kinds of stuff, because of being too powerful. Personally i think the dev got it backwards. You should be able to have 3 droids out and only 1 creature. That would make it a little more Star Wars and less Pet Wars.

So that being said, i thought i would include them in the certification system. I mean, besides a personal preference, what is the difference in having a CL25 creature and a CL25 Droid. In this case i think we should only have a set number of "things" out at once.Max 3. Pets/droids/stormtroopers/rebels. PERIOD. Not this 3 pets, one droid buisness.

cnadlman.....dude........what are you talking about? First you say you want them to allow 3 droids 1 pet, then you call the idea nonsense? IN THE SAME POST?

the devs havent made pets a part of star wars god damnit, star wars is based around the EU, the books, the movies, and so on and so forth......not games......if it was based on the games then in Shadows of the Empire, because i could never beat it on uber, Dash Rendar would have died.....so i guess hes dead and all those books they wrote about him werent true.

Besides that, the devs cant control the star wars universe, the developers at LA say what is and what isnt star warsy, i wish we could get Shug_Ninx to play for a little while, hed see REAL fast that pets need a nerf and droids need a big fat spankin to the top.

I am not a DE, thought about creating one at one point but not yet.

I thought as a droid user what would be a good way for certification in droids, mainly the battle droids but could be any type of droid.

In one of the DE skill trees at each level a DE gains the ability to teach a non DE how to use a type or level of droid. Similar to how the languages worked, cost zero skill points. A DE is already going to be attaining these skill boxes as they progress.

I think a system like this would actually benefit a DE as they could sell the certifications or offer them with droids, but the choice would be up to a DE. The skill would also need to be untrainable to others unless the Trainer was a DE.

Just another alternative idea for you all, you may not like it or it may be an idea towards creating droid user certification.

err......i think that would be too easily exploited, some snap happy master DE can just run around teaching noobs droideka certs and we'll end up seeing novice artisans soloing dantooine

Probably right, I didnt think about someone in the class would want to ruin the DE even more, but guess a lot of players could if the option was there.

Battle_Droid_General, don't get me wrong. Please don't. I love the way you thoughtof doinga cert system. It has made the most scense yet.

The ONLY reason why i tried to include the pets,is more of a balence issue. If Non-CH's are only allowed a CL15 creature or below, do you honestly think they will let a NON-DE or DH(god forbid) anything more powerful than a probot or CH15 Droid? So if you open it up, it will give us more customers to higher level droids. That is the only reason i even suggested it.

I was only stating that the DEV have made pets a part of Star Wars due to the fact they nerf the probot, and made creatures more appealing to have. I mean think about it. I hear the argument about the fact probots have an 810 HAM, include that with armor and it equals X. That still doesn't make up for the fact they only do 50 in damage. 50? what is up with that. So i guess i should restate this. DEV have made creatures a more important role in SWG and not Star Wars as a whole.

By the way, ATSTs are no droids, they are manned vehicles/weaponry.

What I want are some Droidekas or maybe some of those weird Assasin Droids

CH is a profession that should be regarded as a combat profession......they get creatures such as rancors and grauls that will always manhandle a droid, that have MUCH better resists, but Droids are star wars....they make star wars what it is, where would SW be without all the support droids and whatnot? Droids need to have a larger presence than creatures, thats just the way it has to go down, anything else denies us as players immersion.

I think the idea of a certification system that requires no skill points (just XP) is a good one, whether done by droid type or total levels usable... But why not combine it with a more specific certification?

Very powerful droids like droidekas are always going to be controvertial. So... Why not (in addition to the above) make some droids usable by DE's only? (Sufficiently complicated droids have to have a qualifiedtechnician on hand, not justanyone can order them around...)

That would impose a pretty heavy experience / time investment in getting the certification, plus to get one in your group you'd have to find a DE who was interested in going into combat. That would keep them rare...

problem is guys.....DE is a crafting class, BE cant tame his own rancors, WeaponSmith can fire a T21 without rifleman........combat support crafting classes must be certified along with everyone else to use what they craft.....droids are no different.

If you work at an auto plant making Ford trucks, you think just because you work there you automatically get a drivers license? The fact remains that DE is a crafting combat support class, and therefore wont be able to pull out their own droidekas
