Droid Engineer Archive

Ok everything here looks like great stuff But I have issues. Some of which are only slightly touched and nothing really answered.

First I am NOT a droid engineer. I am a Repeat Droid purchesser. I teachnically own every droid in the game, But the limitation to how many you can have on your data pad makes haveing each of the droids useless. Droids are more a part of the Star Wars Universe then Creature pets. I can buy that there were Creature Handlers on Hoth to handle and care for the Ton Ton's. I can Buy that Some Jawas have Creature Handler abilities or bought a tamed one,since some were seen in the updated "A New Hope" rideing a Ronto. And there was 1 crature handler in Return of the Jedi the rancor keeper(cant remember his name at the moment). Star Wars Galaxies Is not Star Wars... it is Beast Wars. Who has the biggest baddest Critter that can beat up everything while those of us that want to retain some semblance of Star Warsy Feel want droids. DROIDS Populate the Universe FAR more than anything else. They even out number the Human and Nonhuman races in the Novels, COmic Books and on the Silver Screen. All the focus in this Playable version of the Universe is on critters. I wanna know why?!?

Second Stems more on the first.

A.) More droids will add to the feel of Star Wars.

B.) Why should I own a Power droid If I can't even power my own freeking Droids with it?

C.) Why own a Repair droid that you cant repair your own droids with?

D.) Binary Load Lifters... WHY?! they do nothing. Atleast give them some kinda Storage device that can be put on them. Or give them a brawler status so they can be useful for something other then takeing up droid space on you data pad. The brawler option was due to the fact that since the nerf bat went wild on the Probots makeing themless usefulatleast you could have a second Combat droid to fall back on while the other healed up.

E.)Droid Data Storage units... Dont hold anything. I have tried to store Waypoints, Creature pets, faction pets(figured it wouldnt work anyhow) and other droids(also thought it might work but figured it wouldn't) Since the people that exploited the Datapads with holding extra Missions on them, I find it hard to believe that the datapad is still a useful mod to put on your droids. Now maybe I'm tryingto use it wrong , but it seems to me that DATA STORAGE should hold DATA(things from your datapad)

F.) Salution to A, B, and C. First off I understand that there is a desire to limit pets to a point. But I have spent a lot of time with my droids just because they are cool, and fun to have around to entertain other players with, and just have something else to do(CONTENT). I have noticed there is only one type of Combat Droid, the probot. IN the future I'm sure other Combat models will be availible. Why not do this.... Allow more then one droid being callable to a player. Limit the number of combat Droids to 1, Open up the option to have 1 or 2(atmost) NONCOMBAT droids callable. More Droids would be purchessed More droids would be seen and More droids would inevetablely add to the content and populus of the Star Wars Galaxy Game Makeing it more Star Warsy.

G.) Droids Dont Die!!! Why the hell cant my droid be taken back to a droid engineer and put back togehter? C-3PO... lets just run threw his carreir shall we..... Phantom Mence Is put to gether with out outer caseing by Anikan. Attack of the Clones, He's head is riped off and replaced onto a combat droid, then plucked back off by R2 and replaced on his body. A New Hope, Tuskans knock an arm off. Empire Strikes Back, He is "disintigrated" in a trash disposal room Chewie puts him back together after finding him in the trash room. Return of the Jedi, Salacious Crumb chews his eye out R2 again Repairs it. And who knows what happens to him in the next Movie. I mean this Droid is a calamity. But Brings forth the points of Droids dont die they fall apart and get put back together. Whyare they destroyed completely? I understand that thats to do with the GAME aspect but I mean realistically we should be able to take a broken droid to a droid engineer and have it repaired. Maybe this would reduce it's vitality or it's over all HAM, but we should beable to get them repaired. Yes yes I know that Repair droids heal damage to a droid But Empire Strikes back C-3po was slagged in this game he would have been DEAD go buy a new one and thanks for playing.

H.) Where are the Assassin Droids, IG models(yes I understand in the expanded universe these models were unperdictable and often attacked their masters), Destorier droids, Droideka's (the rollie ball droids of Phantom Mence)and the plethera of other Combat Models (See Clone Wars for examples)? Soon the GCW will be in full swing and the need for Mine droids(the little white12 armed thing that the Jawas herd to the selling line) to locate and disassemble mine fields will be NEEDED. Agro Bots.... you know those things that help Farmers in their everyday work(ie. tend harvesters).

Right now SW:G is HIGH TECH Everquest!! I left Everquest cause it sucks and nothing ever changed in the story line. Star Wars Galaxies was to be better. Star WarsGalaxies was to be our chance to play in the star wars multi-verse.Colaberate with other Star Wars fans, to have a Star Wars Genre game that we could acctually participate in(outside of the Book RPG)and change how things worked out in the over all story line. Whoop-tee-do we can have 1 droid to run around with but Master Creature handler Bob can have 3 critters killing EVERYTHING for him. Luke had two droids, Zero Critters,(after his uncle buys them from the Jawas, plus the Lars Moister Farm Haddozens of droids on it)or has everyone forgot that C-3PO and R2-D2 were counter parts? They were technically Lukes though he did intrust them both to Han and/or Leia for their missions, since they might have come in handy to them. I want to have my 3PO unit and My R2,3,4,or 5 out so I have my droids that Do nothing other then add company and feel.

For crafters this could become wonderfully accurate to the Star Wars Feel. I picture a day when we can program Patrol points (which currently only make the droid walk around and waist battery power) in our droids that have storage compartments, that can make runs to the harvesters (provided they are close to our homes) and retrieve supplies and bring them back to the house. Giveing Droids a true purpose.

Protacol droids are currently useless since they dont act as a go between. Everyone is taught all the languages they dont understand early on and makeing language gaps non-existant and the need for a translater pointless. I have taught 1 person Shyriiwook completely by accident. Haveing a droid that would translate for the others around would have been fun and added a certin amount of Star Warsy Feel to it aswell. C-3PO in this game has NO function, 8 races 8 languages everyone knows everything. Try Roleplaying a character that only speeks his Native tongue(all my chars speek only their native tongues even if they can speek other langs). Atleast IN everquest you had to literally be taught how to speek and understand another races language before you could. Which amazingly enough is about the only thing I likein EverquestoverStar Wars Galaxies. How many people other then Han knew what Chewie was saying when 3PO wasnt around?

Mouse droids are Messanger droids that Cant send a message to someone since /tell {name} deleivers the same message without all the delay or Feel. You could even add it so that the mouse droids could deliever Items to a person. Thusly utilizeing the Storage compartment and makeing the ambiance that is the Star Wars Universe more prevalent.

Droid Engineers really do have the fuzzy end of the lolli Pop cornered and shoved down their throats and are forced to suck on it till someone buys a clue and gets with the program. Give Us the players that are not a Droid Engineer, more reason to want droids. More reason to goto our Droid Engineer Friends and Buy more droids, expanding their market. Give Star Wars BACK to the droids and take it away from the freeking Animals!!!

Thanks for your time and listening to me rant. I really do think to a point if you look at what I have said something can be done to add to our game play and enjoyment. Since Customer service is lacking anyhow.

You are so right man. I just hope some dev scrolling through this forum see's what you wrote and decides to take initiave. I am almost a master artisen wanting to be a DE. Droids are star Wars.

on another note I wanted to say I am also a novice pistoleer. when I run the rebel missions from the terminalsoften attack an imp junior tech. these droids are a joke. granted that I never saw an amaizing droid that was so bad @$$ killing everyone in the original Trilogy, but I am sure they were out there. just maybe not visible to the camera. since most of it centered around the rebelion and the Jedi. but even I(the pistoleer)when I kill a droid should be able to loot and gather some if not all of the scrap stuff to at least sell to a junk dealer, or take some collected RARE parts to a DE to have a decient droid made. I donno Just a thought.
