Droid Engineer Archive

The first thing that popped into my head here was the possible inclusion of Droid type mobs (if there aren't any already) and DE's could have the ability to "reprogram" them and take control of them. Doest his not sound interesting?

And if they do do this then the only usefull droids I can make, I can only sell them to ONE class, most of which will probably be able to make their own droids anyway.

I support this 110% how can it be a poke-mon class ? If you didn't notice droids are EVERYWHERE in SWG. I'm also all for requiring certs, I hate the fact that Novice CHs can take basically two trees in the CH profession and get 90% of the classes power, I don't want to see that at all with DEs I imagine true CHs hate the 4/4/0/1 CHs (or whatever the numbers are), I certainly don't want to see that happen to us....no commando/DE BH/DE etc....

Also if they limit the ability to hybrid with DE our top in droids can be stronger because they won't have to be balanced with elite combat skills as much (I hope)

I am very much anticipating this announcment just like every other DE. I have plead a couple of times for battle droids and I believe we deserve them. I also read on here that someone doesn't wanna be able to go out and solo he just wants to make droids, well I think you still can but now there will be more in the way of profit for you. People won't be running around yelling "Anyone selling a non-CH?". Instead they will run around yelling, "Are there any DE selling any battle droids or any non-CH?". I know maybe I am dreaming, but I wanna be a droid maker too, I like being in combat but I prefer the serenity of my house on Naboo chilling out making components for what I want to be my very next ADV droid. There is very little profit in just making droids for the heck of it anymore, most people want one with a crafting station, extra storage and a med module. Than maybe they come back for batteries. I would just like to see the DE's on the same level as the CH's when it comes to selling pets/droids. Just my opinion, you can hollar at me but this is what i think.

I'm FAR more concerned, however, about your level of "correspondence" with them vis a vis this "plan".


Did they talk TO you about what they were thinking? Do you feel like you got enough communication from them to assist them in tempering their decision on our behalf (and the totalbenefit of the game)?

Seriously...

It's starting to sound like you were not communicated TO and that (to me) makes me want to quit. I know they listen to us...what they don't seem to get is that we want them to talk TO our correspondents.


Do you feel like that happened to a satisfactory level?

My impression is we will be able to make combat droids non-DEs can use...similar to non-CH pets...just the very top end ones only we will be able to use...as it should be.

IOW we should still have a market.

Ok this makes more sense and I hope that is how the profession turns out.

I would definatly like to see some driods that only a master can craft and use.

I don't recall anyone mentioning having to use any skill points. Come on people.. are we DE's THAT jaded that we have to come up with reasons to complain about a PLAN that we havn't even heard in detail yet?

Yes I said PLAN. The info that I've seen in Thunderhearts posts is that they will be revealing a PLAN for the future, not an update, not a patch, just a PLAN. This means that they are doing exactly what they said they would, they will be postinga Plan for us to see and discuss BEFORE they implement it.

Let's not get bent out of shape before we evensee what's going to happen, it only makes the DE community look bad. We've sat this out for this long, so obviously the remaining DE's feel that something better is WORTH waiting for. Have a bit of faith.

Sintrosi, I havn't had the oppurtunity to mention this earlier, I don't post much. You're doing a great job as correspondent, I admire your dedication.

Depending on how they do the cert/#-of-droid-lvls-you-control system, we might still make a killing from DE-only droids. If you only need Novice + a few boxes of DE (kinda like the first few boxes of CH to get good pets), AND if the uber-combat droid schematics are higher on the skilltree, then we might get folks who get a few boxes of DE to control the combat droids but still need Droid Masters/Designers to build them!

Master DE is a real slog of a grind. Most shoot from the hip types don't have the attention span for real Delayed Gratification DE Glory Masterness. I will sell droids to these poor, twitch fingered gunner types. And hats off to them for educating themselves on the technical aspects of Droid Combat and Control!!!

DEVS: please let us harvest NPC droid parts for inclusion into our designes. "Taming" NPC droids would also be great! (But not the shuttle ticket droids!)

I'm a little wary of these changes. DE's building droids that only DE's can use? So much for the idea of a player-run economy, eh? Before you know it, weaponsmiths will have weapons only they can use, and armorsmiths will be crafting armorsmith-only armor. Heck, I'm all for fixing DE, but don't set us up for a nerf. DE's being able to repair and maintain and craft and use our own droids (especially if they make powerful, DE-only droids) is just asking for a nerf.
