Hehe sorry all .. been brushing up on my calculus for my Masters program and been thinking in formulas.

The idea is we will belike a combination of CHs and BEs except for droids. We still make droids and can sell them but there are some combat droids ( not all) that only we can use. i.e. the upper level ones.

So in essence we will still make droids like we do, get additional working droids and get combat droids only we can use thus making us a combat class as well.

There .. I said it ... Been holding on to that for over a month now.

Now that I said it watch, they changed their mind and it is totaly something completely different.

I was under the impression that the reason you were a Profession Correspondent was to help them to implement changes/fixes/additions to our profession to improve it. And they want to do that without giving you the first word about what that all will be?

What I get out of his statement is that DE will be like a combination of BE and CH only non-organic.

They will be like a BE in that they make pets (droids).

They will be like a CH in that some of the droids that they make, they will be able to sell, but other, better droids will require DE skills to operate.

I don't see what the problem would be with any of this.

Wow! I think I'm stunned. If this is the way they decided to go, then it may indeed not only fix the issues with DE, but also improve the overall "Star Wars" feel to the game. Give DEs a droid that is a little superior to any CH pet and you will fix both issues at the same time. Maybe someone at SOE has some sense after all.

Calm down, what he's trying to say is...

- We craft droids like we do (DE part)

- We can experiment on droids to tweak them (BE part)

- We get advanced droids that only we can use (CH part)

This is not really my vision on how DEs should be, we should build droids for others (and ourselves) to use. Our droids should not be used for combat (except one or two 'bodyguard' droids), like the original vision. But we should have lots of more utility options, and obviously, they should fix lots of things with our creations.

Guess now when they change this everyone will be either a CH or a DE. Let's see how it goes.

I am encouraged by this information and hope it comes to pass. It is good to know that there will be new droids coming down the line and that certain droids, such as high-end combat droids, only DEs can use. Such droids are seen throughout the Star Wars EU and it is appropriate to introduce them to the game. By limiting who can use such droids their scarcity is preserved. I understand why the developers would want to do this--why repeat the same mistake with droids that was made with CH at release? Opening the new droid types to everyone will result in an arms race of pets once more.

Look at it this way--DEs willbe able to buildmany types of droids, but certain types, the more complicated ones, can only be used by DEs. It's a logical step and I wholeheartedly support it. For those who just want to build and sell droids and not participate in commanding droids in battle, so be it. Don't.

Dawg-gone it!! I thought I had it figured out. It seemsd as though DE's would get a new weapon Cert. for a "Jawa ION pistol" and we'd be able to go to LOK to /tame the Droidikas there.

If the deal is that we get our own special combat droid, then let there be two: one for the M. DE's and One for the Novice DE's and DABBING Artisians with Eng 4.

Ok, I get it now. DEs will make droids. We get more combat droids that we can sell AND we have some uber droids -- graul shredders, maybe-- that only we can use. We are gonna kick @ss!!!!! Woot! Droideka! I love you!!! <hack>

Ok that makes a little more cense, but still what the heck? they are making a pokemon Droid trainer class. That is still messed up, so now I will have to use up More of my already used skill points to be able to control what I make. If that is all they have for this littlethread that TH is going post then that is pretty dang sorry as it is still not any type of fix.

OMG, taming a droideka would actually rock... AND fit the continuity that combat droids are outlawed, so we could go ahead and surreptitiously make use of those now-banned droids that still exist.

If we could then sample those droidekas in order to learn their secrets and enhance our own products, even our saleable products, now that would be quite interesting...
