Thread: Refreshing the Correspondent forum as fast as you are refreshing here

Are you sure it is geared actually towards OS creation, or instead more towards very effective OS utilization? I'm currently taking an OS course which does cover the 'creation' but not in the expectation that you will code an entire operating system yourself but instead effectively use and/or slighly modify the ones out there.
I got my degree in computer science with an emphasis in hardware and operating system design. Everyone in my program had to write an OS. Yes it was very simple, and no you would probably never use it, but I did it. I also had to build a computer from scratch and flash the instructions to ROM to boot it.

Err...stop talking about any OS...?

holy crap, I know I don't need to do that to graduate...
where did you get your undergrad degree from?
Hehe, in final approval even! That means since they close up shop for most of the devs in less than 30 mins that it's sitting on a desk somewhere while they figure out how long we'll all sit in here and hit refresh lol. I can see the numbers now...starting to catch up to the number of nerfs
Still I was all set to cancel my two accounts and my wife's as well but if they can fix DE and keep me interested in it while I wait on better content, I'll sit it out.
Hit refresh a 1000 times and now my laptop stops me..tells me no more...winces and refreshes on it's own hehe.
Just remember it's only a plan, not what they will do to us...um..right hehe. I'm expecting a plan and then a stealth fix on monday and then nerfed on tuesday when the pikemen see we've been changed first
..I'm kidding! Really! ..pulls out crafting station to make a fire resistant shell for his R3 and jumps in to wait it out. I mean if a Dewback will fit in it's storage then I know I'm bound to fit in there too! lol

Well, I prefer to stay private so I am not sharing that with everyone on the forums. But I will say that where you go is nearly as important as actually having your Bachelors of Science degree. Large companies actually rate Universities. It affects your chances of getting a position. When looking for an education, you get what you pay for. When looking for software engineers, good companies know that they get what they pay for as well.

Well, that's good news. Sounds like I'm screwed.
No, there are plenty of small and medium sized companies that do not rank Universities. There are even some large ones too. Many game development companies, in fact, look more closely at your actual experience than at your degree. If you can create some good demo games, it can really help you get your foot in the door at these types of places. The downside is usually lower (than industry standard) pay and vastly increased hours, especially towards crunch time.

I'm not talking about*nix or Windows style operating system complexity. I'm talking about something that would at face value act like DOS or have a graphical interface with a file browser and a text editior. The actual product wouldn't do much, but it teaches the basics of things like process scheduling, threading, memory management, basic networking, etc.
