Ah who cares about whether or not programmers can use everything they make. The point the deluded orgianl poster was trying to make is that it is a good idea to make a separate Droid Handler class.
We have enough broken professions, we don't need another profession that turns us into BE's who can't use the droids we make

I call shenanigans. You did no such thing, unless it was some version of BASIC, twenty years ago. Or some little tiny embedded operating system that serves one singular purpose of about five functions. What was this operating system you single-handedly created and bestowed upon the world?

Are you sure it is geared actually towards OS creation, or instead more towards very effective OS utilization? I'm currently taking an OS course which does cover the 'creation' but not in the expectation that you will code an entire operating system yourself but instead effectively use and/or slighly modify the ones out there.

Actually it is a Compiler not an Operating System. I have a Double bachelors in Computer Science and Computer Engineering, with a Minor in Electrical Engineering (The minor was a freebie though as I had to take the classes anyway for CE).
Of course some courses may require an operating System instead of compiler since I imagine it would be of equal difficulty, assumming it was stripped down OS.
oops sorry -- I will go back to the Correspondent forums and wait ...

Well, technically he only created the Linux kernel.The OS itself is really named GNU/Linux, cause just having the Linux kernel by itself wouldn't be all that useful. At least, that's how I understand it.

Call whatever you like. The truth is, most Computer Science majors are required to create an operating system in one of their classes before they can graduate. At least, they were several years ago when I graduated.
I created a 32-bit protected mode operating system for the Intel 80386 (and above) processor. It supported multiple threads, disk I/O, keyboard input, and textual output. It did not support any advanced graphics. That would have taken much longer, especially for anything beyond the VGA standard 320x200x256 or 640x400x16.
