hehehe, my bet is TH is getting his bottom spanked for promising something he was not authorised to promise, and we will get a "sorry folks" type post from him.

Okay...well. Were you in beta? Do you have first-hand knowledge of how they used to discuss potential changes/issues with the community?

If not, you have NO basis to say this. I'm quite well aware of how it all "works", thank you very much. Let me leave you with a quote from Sintrosi:

Yes, you're right, I was not in beta. If you feel that I therefore have no right to post this opinion, that is your right.

No...you have every right to your opinion, just as I do. My experience in beta obviously skewed my perspective. That's why I stated above that I was wrong, I guess.

I in no way intended this to be a personal attack on you, TK. I have read many of your previous posts and have a great respect for your opinions.

Thanks. I do what I can. I post what I firmly believe because I believe it's in the best interests of the game, the players and the developers. I hold NO ill-will towards anyone. I want to see all aspects of SWG get better for ALL of us.

That said, I would like to opine that there is a fundamental difference between beta and live (though some would argue that it seems like we're still in beta). The community that they are now corresponding with (you may take the word corresponding with whatever degree you see fit) is many many times larger than the beta community. This makes the whole process much more complex.

Boy....don't I know it. My idea of correspondence is to gather feedback from the person, discuss ideas and opinions with the person and use that experience/knowledge to temper the best possible outcome for all parties. The only 'flub' I see in all this is that they waited until the very last minute to put this big "plan" in front of Sintrosi...when she should have been well aware of it FAR in advance of today (and been an integral part in making sure that it addressed our primary concerns).

I guess I feel for the DEVs because I'm a programmer myself. At the beginning of my process, the people that will be using the product have a lot of say in how they want it to look and feel.

And that should be the case in situations where development is ongoing (as is it with MMOs).

At some point, however, I have to sit down and do the work. When I think I'm done, I get approval from them, make any changes, and release it to them. Inevitably they will want more changes, and inevitably they will be upset that it's not as easy to make those changes now because the program was set up ina certain way according to their original request.

Yea...I know how that can go. 'Feature-trickle' can ruin a lot of good programs and services.

That doesn't mean I don't make those changes, it just means it's going to take me a bit longer. I guess I'm applying that same sense to this game, and whether that's correct or incorrect I don't know.

It is, pretty much, I'm sure.

TH is working on a better system of working with the correspondants. The guys' been here two weeks - give him a little time...

Actually...he's been here longer than that (but not as a 'red name'). I'm sure that he's working to better the system.

I'm going to recuse myself from this thread after this post as I feel I'm getting a bit off topic.

Your points are valid.

I happen to believe that this specific situation was part of the problem that needs to be addressed, in a way. But then...I already said I'm probably wrong.

More than likely TH won't send anything to Sin to release the "plan" to us so we'll be waiting for a while on it =). Another bone sent to DE's maybe? *crosses fingers that the plan is released today as mentioned in the chat last night*

This absolutely feeds my fears that what's being suggested will arrive on the live servers about the time the space expansion comes out.

Um, that's exactly what they are doing, running this idea by us. this is a "plan" it's not set in stone. I really don't see why your all up in arms about this.

You don't?!?! Well...maybe being in Beta changed me and I have a different perspective on the situation.

To AudioOrgana: I'm not picking apart the "plan". I wouldn't presume to do so until I saw it. I am referring solely to the amount/quality of communication to the correspondent. It befuddles me that they wouldn't want to use her experience and knowledge of the DE issues and community thought as a 'sounding board' first...to help temper the best plan possible. I never expect that you (of all people) wouldn't have been able to see my point and agree with it (since I've seen you post similar concerns in the past).

I don't care who was in beta and who wasn't really. Processes change. you can not equate the coorespondent system to anything in beta, or beta in general.Put that card away, it holds no wieght anymore, it's now well past release.

Since SWG is an MMO, it will be in development in perpituity. This means that we can learn from our experience in beta and apply what worked (and was successful) to "live", in part.

I understand where you're coming from on this though.

As I stated before, she has been giving them feedback and probably been unaware that that feedback has been rolled into this plan. The plan from that feedback is now ready to be pushed for feedback from us. she gets to see it before us because she is the person that is going to post it. I doubt there is something in there that she has never seen before.

so, yes, I don't see why your getting upset about this.

And I stated that I was wrong. I'm insane...that's all. By the way, since you know me from the Ahazi DENet, you know I'm not usually this irrational.

That's the message I intended to quote in post above. For the sake of those who missed it, doesn't the speech in this post make you think that whatever plan they are going to roll out is _months_ away from being implemented if they have to fight with people to just update the PAYING PLAYERS on the state of their BROKEN profession. Hell, we don't even see confirmation that the known issues list is complete or official.

While I do think I jumped the gun a bit, I still feel that the underlying principle that I adhere to on this point was correct.

I go by Sintrosi's own statements about being somewhat in the dark on what was contained in this "plan". It is that exact point that I find troubling. Our Correspondent should NOT be in the dark on the plans, since she should have been a part of making sure that they would work to address our issues.

Okay...I'm going to go feed the kids now. I'll pick apart the post when she makes it....
