I agree we got hosed, BUT!
San has said it himself and even TH mentioned in in a reply to someone on that main thread, this is NOT a smuggler fix. Never meant to be. It's a part of the story arc leading into ep5/6 where the Empire is tightening it's fist. Just story guys, not a fix.
To be fair, your argument has a serious flaw in it. I'm not saying imperial rank shouldn't have it's priviliages, but having that rank does not make you immune to rules.
I'm not usually one to make comparisions with the real world, but this latest info will bring it out in me. I hold a significant rank in the US armed forces and you know what, low ranking guards check my car at gates, check me for ID and when entering a building check through my bags. To say that having ahigh rank automatically keeps these 'security' things from happening is shortsighted and imp fanboyish I'm sorry.
I'm an rp'er and this patch will help with that so I am happy. As a smuggler, something that could have been good for the community has fizzled to insignificance. Go fanboys go!
