Thread: Inside info on DE Elite Elite.
Wow if this were true can you imagine a DE critical failing a starship?
That would make crit failing a PA Hall seem like a joke.

Exactly. That's what I'm hoping too.

This is (almost) the stupidest SWG design decision I've ever heard. It's awesome that WS's will craft weapons for the ships, and AS's the armor, and DE's should certainly have something cool & critical to add to a starship. But Architects should have the ability (or higher level profession) to put them all together into some kind of Starship Design. DE's building starships? It makes no friggin sense.
Just make them fix your profession instead of being thrown bones from other professions.
It makes just as much sense as an architect getting into starship design. A moving vehicle is quite a bit different from a stationary structure. There's that whole physics thing to worry about, thermodynamics, aerospace engineering, etc.
What might make more sense is to have such a profession require a line of DE and Architect, too. Why would you need to be a master DE or architectto design a starship?

It actually isnt that ridiculous at all. In the real world there are mechanical engineers which have more specialized fields to go into such things as robotics(droid engineer), propulsion systems, and design vehicles.
The droid engineer is probably the one best suited to taking starship design as it stands. Because even though an architect has experience building BIG things they have no knowledge of all the possible forces that would involve making a suitable ship.
Lot more I could say, but I didnt want to make it long winded.
This is all a bunch of crap
We already know how space travel will work: You select "travel" from your ships radial menu, you get a little select destination screen (like the travel terminal in the space port), then you get the loading screen and *poof* you are on the planet you selected.
Diave the whole point of the SE is to add the "space" to travel to planet A to planet B.. We just "poof" there atm because there isnt anything for us to travel threw to get there..
The Dev's have said since the begining that the starports were intended just to get them threw untill the SE came out.. They may change it to you going to a spaceport to catch a ship in orbit and then travel threw the space needed, or they may keep it as is *shrug* But if you own a spacecraft you will be able to travel there on your own power so to speak rather than the insta port we have currently.
Elite-elite Weaponsmith - New profession to design and build starship weapons and electronic countermeasures.
Elite-elite Armorsmith - New profession to design and build starship armor and shields.
Elite-elite Master Artisan - New "engineer" profession to build starship engines and all the little nifty electronic parts that ships need, such as computers, scanners, communication transmitters, etc.
Creature Handler - Straps a hyperdrive to the back of his picachurancor and flies off to Dathomir to solo some more Nightsisters as Holocron remarks "this *IS* Starwarsy".
All kidding aside, I'd love to see a Starship Designer profession. It doesn't matter to me if it stems from the Architect or DE line... or even Tailors for that matter

I would enjoy this. I dont like the insta-port. They could have had at least a 'flying through space' animation. Not just the 'poof' there you are... ![]()
