people... it is a game, lighten up... and read my first post.

What makes you so much better than me because you chose to do DE before I did, and so what if I chose to make my character DE after trying it because it was one of my holocron professions.

Stop blaming SOE?? You stop blaming me because I chose to go after a FS slot.

The sad thing is if there was another way to get the slot without picking up DE like the holocron told me I probably would have never picked it up.. READ my first and second post, I realized that I ENJOYED playing a DE... Just because you chose it before I did doesnt make you better than those of us who picked something else first.

Holocrons are a part of the game, like it or not.... It's a shame that you guys look down on those who feel Star Wars and Jedi go hand in hand...

I would say we kiss and make up but how about a hand shake

I agree, no need for anyone to complain about it.. no one is making them do anything.

Sorry if I took your post the wrong way... all DE's have a right to be frustrated, not doubt about that. We are currently the red headed step child of all professions. Look at all the money all the other crafting professions are pulling in.. what do we have to offer now?very little... it's sad and its not Star Wars.

It's a shame we have to wait until Jan/Feb before we have anything to really offer.. and then if the 'good stuff' is DE only, its not going to help much either... then everyone will pick up enough DE just to use the better droids... I would hate to see DE go the way of CH...

I think I have to agree with Sinostri on this one. It's entirely understandable that all the "how do I get through this quickly" posts have gotten very, very old.....it's not out of line to ask people to do some flippin' research.

But there are some arguements out there that could be addressed. Why so angry at Holocron-DEs? Don't they add more public awareness of our profession? Aren't they paying customers?

Well sure. They are paying customers. And they add awareness to the profession. But they using it as a means to an end. They aren't here because they want to be a Droid Engineer, they're here to get through it, and I quote, "as quickly as possible." If that's the case, then a simple, succinct answer will suffice. Grind this, and move along. Frankly, figuring out how to get through this profession as fast as possible just to dump it afterwards is not on our priorities of research, and most of us don't know any "nifty tricks" to doing it. We're more focused on the other things....making droids work, becoming a true profession. These things a Holocron-DE doesn't care about, as it truly doesn't affect them.

Maybe Sinostri snapped and got a bit too irritated with it. Maybe it's better to blame the broken process than the people who use it. But overall, we are indeed bitter about all our problems, and bitter even more about being turned into nothing but a means to a greater end and having to repeat answers over, and over, and over to people who simply want to grind through it quickly and dump it even faster.

Oh, wanted to add a couple things...

First, there are a few rare people who come to DE because of the Holocron and instead learn they like it and want to come back to it once their task is complete. This is both admirable and welcomed, and is very different than the other Holocron-DE that I described, mainly for this reason: this person WANTS to be a DE and WANTS to become an active, helpful member of the community. They desire to help make the class better.

And second.......Sinostri is a....man?? What a cruel, cruel world.

I think he was talking about all of the Bothan Droid Engineers, Rho. Not the giant, shaggy walking dust mops.

While I have agreed with your posts in the past, Sintrosi, I have to say that with this one your jackboots are showing.

Yes, there are a lot of "children" who can't seem to operate the search function of the board or are just too **edit** lazy to do so, but it isn't there fault that the game was set up the way it is. I don't see what mastering "X" professions has to do with becoming a Jedi (not a very immersive way of doing it), but this response to it is over the line.

On the contrairy.... Thier comming here to use our knowledge to further thier own personal gain with zero interest in this profession accept to get through it as fast and mindlessly as possible is stepping over the line and you posting this crapp, being a holocroner yourself is laughable. Be gone!

I would think that instead, you would relish the fact that these Holocrons are forcing people into this profession, so that more than just those who love the profession learn of how truly screwed up it is....

Incorrect. They have no idea how messd up this profession is and 99% of them could care less. They aren't supporting us, they are ONLY here because thier path to become a Jedi tells them to. If they did care then thier posts would consist of more indepth topics about our profession than a stinking seach for the fastest way to get it over with.

GraySeven wrote:

Until recently, we didn't even get +100 assembly and experimentation. How long had that been like that before it was fixed? Since the beginning? I would have flamed the boards non-stop until that was hotfixed if I were a DE back then.....

Umm... since beta and for your info, we did flame.... hello?

GraySeven wrote:

Yes, seeing endless posts on "How do I master DE fast?" can be annoying, but insulting people is not the way to fix that. Just ignore them and they will learn how to search the forums for the answers that are already there, and remember that at least one person who came into the profession via the Holocrons is staying because they are enjoying themselves, broken profession or no.

Thats Exactly what Sintrosi is saying.... I G N O R E them. Oh and by the way, if you are truly here to stay... welcome to the profession and good luck.

Don't act as if the Holocron MADE you do anything. You willingly and knowingly sought it out and now you want us to believe it somehow FORCED you to become a DE? heheh Thats uterly pathetic.

As Sintrosi said...Salute to those who do thier own foot work. Apparently you and "GraySeven" neglected to read that part of the post.

I did my own foot work and I didn't have several hundrad thousand credits to grind with when I was a novice many moons ago. Your all just a passing voice. If you followed your holocron this far, i doubt youll stop here.

Bye bye....

Hey all, just poking my head in at the moment.

The holocron people asking for fast macros are ALOT more common now. Look at any crafting board to see it. Yes its annoying, and this has already been said but... There are few who find they like a profession and come back to it. I am not saying the Jedi-wannabes are all good, but there are always exceptions.

No I am not a Holocron crafter, I am a crafter and always wanted to be a crafter (cept in Beta, I didn't even want to bother then :smileywink Just my two credits from an aspiring droid crafter.

Well, there's good and bad arguements for the Holocroners...

Pros:

1) It gets people to try new professions. Maybe they try DE and realize that they really enjoy crafting, and want to stick with it and become an active member of the profession's community, helping to make it a better profession overall.

2) It gets awareness, at least to some degree. They may not know what it's like to "live" as a Droid Engineer, but at least they'll run into one or two of the annoyances that we had to and realize how broken it is (the MSE Grind at Novice, for instance).

Cons:

1) Many Holocron-DEs are just coming and going. They have no intention of staying and thus mock the state of our profession by littering the boards with post after post trying to figure out how to get through it as fast as possible.

2) Annoyance. As Sinostri said, many of them, in their haste to get through this as fast as possible, don't even take the time to research what they're getting into. Thus, they don't carefully read the FAQs and guides, and end up asking the same questions over and over that have been answered ad nauseum.

Bottom line here is....intent. That's the way I see it. Those that intend to be a DE eventually as a final profession because they actually enjoy it, they earn my respect. Maybe they're here because of a Holocron or because they're interested in it, I don't mind which it is....what matters is where they're going. If they're staying, then they're welcomed members of the community. If they're using this profession as a means to a different end.....well, that's their business. Like I said before, most of us don't try to find the quickest way to grind and macro up to Master. We have other pressing agendas that would not matter to a Holocron-Only DE.
