Sorry, but I'd rather they remove the ability to store items on a MP ship than take a lot for having one. The issue of lots and storage has been around forever and this database issue is going to end up being the pass/fail of this game.

Personally, I wouldn't even consider using a ship for storage due to the hassle of launching and landing to get anything out of it. If the ships graphics are done right, then decorating a ship won't be an issue, or at least doesn't have to be an issue.

People want to personallize their ships, fine. Allow architects to make ship-only items for use in decorating ships and don't allow anything else to be dropped in one.

I can't believe that SOE is adding an expansion like this that had to require them to add more DB space through servers to cover and they are so worried about people dropping 150 items in these DB's that they are going to Nerf the ground game by removing lots from us.

What about those of us who aren't architects and don't use guildhalls, i.e. the majority of us? 7 lots for a building that holds 450 items is still too much (64.28 items per lot) for me. Its close, but not the 75 items per lot that the system was supposed to use.

I'm not asking for much, but some consistency would be nice.

Make no mistake about it, the current lot restrictions have less to do with DB issues than they do with revenue generation. In the economics of MMOs, the best user is one who only logs on occasionally, but keeps paying every month. With SWG, SOE has found the magic bullet. By limiting the amount of items characters can have, they have forced most heavy duty crafters to have at least two accounts. I know of some players who have 5-6 accounts just for storage. These "mule" accounts are money in the bank for SOE. They are only logged in a few times a month (if that) but generate the same amount of revenue as a normal character account. If this game turns around with JtL, I expect they will "solve" the database issues. Of course, if customer levels drop, we'll probably see a renewal of the "DB problems".

I know its frustrating to me that one of my favorite fantasy-sci--fi setting is getting used as a cash cow to screw over crafters. I appluad the dev team for the crafting system which is one of the most advanced ever in any game and dynamic....but the lack of storage and lots it just downright mean spirited. Crafting 10 hours a week or so becomes very unpleasent when you have no storage to put your items....let alone those that craft more....

It's nice they're reducing the lot cost for a couple of things, however it still won't help me - I lose 1 lot. That's 1 less harvester I can drop, 1 less factory I can place, 1 more means of removing some of the fun in this game. I personally agree with the idea of2 starship lots. I'm not understanding why I'm essentially being penalized for being a 6 month veteran of this game. Thanks for the reward, they just screwed up the game I've been playing for over 6 months. That's pretty lame.

I fail to understand what the hwell the big deal is over 75 stinkin' items. WHO CARES. My God, what we NEED in this game (especially as crafters) is - read my lips Devs - more storage. MORE STORAGE, pleeeeeeeeeeeease!!!!!!

Man, I'm so sick of losing stuff because I have 5 houses, 4 factories, and a cantina. Ugh! And they're all almost full

Oh, and JTL will give us a ton more stuff to store because:

A) We'll get all sorts of starship component loot (more stuff)

B) Can't crate some starship/droid components (more stuff)

*sigh*

Ah well, time for another stupid house

I assure you that SOE has, somewhere buried deep within the bowels of the company, a nice projection on how many lots we get vs. how much revenue they lose. It's a business for them after all.

Correct me if I'm wrong but its only the second MP ship that costs a lot isnt it? (i.e. the first one is free)

So assuming youre a vet you dont have to 'deal' with this problem until you hit Master pilot and decide you want another MP ship?

They went back and forth so much at the end I'm not 100% sure. I think that the final decision was that every MP ship takes one lot.

To clear it up for everyone....

The following ships will each take up 1 Lot to use, since each has the ability to store up to 75 items.

  • YT-1300

  • VT49

  • YKL-37r

  • Sorosuub 3000

The DEVs had to create a balance system to compensate for the fact that each of the above ships can house up to 75 items. You can have up to 2 POB ships in your datapad at any given time.

That tears it... I will never buy JTL now. I was toying with the idea of buying JTL for the sole purpose of having a yatch (I have no points left to be a pilot). Now I find out that if I own a ship I loose a lot. Fine, they can take JTL and shove it up...

Thanks Man good news..

But I am a bit fuzzy on the lots. will houses go down at all? and the Tat Guild is already at 7 do you know if it will drop below that?

Tat Guild Halls are staying the same. The suggestion to drop the lot costs on Large Houses has also been made, so we will have to wait and see about that one.

They need to drop the lot cost on medium houses as they store the same as a small..... (that or increase the storage of the meduim but this is out of scope for this thread).

Drashk, this makes sense, however, we are paying for an expansion. This isn't new, free, content being added to this game. We are being asked to sacrifice something we currently have (lots) in order to use new content that we are paying for. I understand there are checks and balances, but some quarter needs to be given to those of us who are giving SOE additional money for the expansion.

Which is why the lot costs on Structure Factories and Guild Halls were reduced.

I'm not saything that I completely agree with what is being done here. I've already made the suggestion to not count the Veteran Reward against the Lot count.

One thing that I think needs to be pointed out about the POB ships. They are going to require more then one person to be used in Combat. Many people will be using their POB ships as storage and traveling homes, instead of using them in combat.

Yes please i don't want to loose my veteran ship just because all my lots are taken up. Perhaps only allow furniture, and perhaps food and drink, on the veteran ships? (yes i know this isn't going to happen soon)

If anything, I can see the lot requirement on the small housesdrop, but that would mean that the item storage would be dropped to 75. I don't think that the DEVs will change the Small or Medium House lots. We can hope that maybe the lot usage on Large houses will drop, but that is yet to be seen.

hrmm, all my lots are full right now, any idea what will happen if I try to claim my yacht right now? Guess I'll have to transfer one of my equipment factories to my alt...

That would mean that a larege takes the same # as a medium. What they need to really do is raise the # of items in a medium +75. I'd love it if they came out with a 'storage shed' that took one lot and held 75 items. Dang it now i'm getting off topic again..... oh well you can still pass it to them....
