Thread: Proposal for Battle Droids and a new Profession
If DE cost more skill points? lol dude, I wish it cost less, I dont have enough as it is, besides the time it takes to reach masterDE should outweigh any skill point comparisons.
I hear what your saying, but I couldnt give a crap about weilding utility droids, O look, im a DE, I can get out my Protocol droid and my EG-6.......what fun........as a Master DE I wanna weild at least 2 Droidekas at the same time, give non-de's ability to weild 2 utility droids, wouldnt bother me =)
In practice, if your idea had been implimented before game launch there wouldnt be a problem, the fact that DE is bugged to hell, takes a good while to master, and are among the rarer choices in proffessions means that if your idea came into play now, most DE's would feel like they wasted their time........most of the motivation for DE's since launch is that one day we gonna be given our props, i.e. one day it will be cool to be a DE, and all the people that didnt bother because they knew it was so bugged gonna wish they did.
In your scenario, all the people that didnt bother before will simply say "told you so, DE is crap, im going DC", if that happened, there wouldnt be any DE's around to make the DC some droids hehe
Well it's a real quandary, as a DE I see the desire to want to use your own creations, but on the other hand 92 skill points is too little to wield multiple powerful battle droids. Why? Because you still have enough skill points to master atleast one elite combat profession and several other skills.
Yea, I didn't want to get into any negative comments about CHers, but you do bring up a very valid point to this argument. So I'm going to say this with the understanding that I'm saying this with the most constructive point of view.
It's my view that the CH profession does not use enough skill points. I don't think the DEV team had any idea how popular the CH profession would be from the data gathered from beta. I don't think they should nerf creatures in any manner, I just think they should raise the skill points required so that people who really love playing a creature handler can do so, just not be a CH and an elite combat class together.
There are still al lot of balancing this game will have to go through, but to be fair this is a tough job balancing a skills based game. People just need to stop getting wound up when someone suggest that a particular profession may have to loose just a bit for the better of the whole game.
Droids are tools for all classes to use. They are not required to be taught or programmed by their owners. They obey and perform the functions that they were created for.
There is no place for a droid commander class. Every profession shoud have this ablility.

I guess you really didn't read the post. It's about balance and adding a place for people who love the battle droid aspect to the game.
The Droid Commander class is about using battle droids WITH battlefield tactics. Even in Star Wars the movie the droid army required a whole space station to control the armies. Just because you design and build a piece of military equipment doesn't mean you know how to deploy them in a large scale battle.
Ok since people are not actually wanting to read the proposal and think about it logically, I'm gonna give a little spoiler.
As I said the Droid Commander profession would by a hybridwith Master Artisan and Master Marksman as a prereq. Even at Master DC you would have 33 skill points at a minimum left over and since you're already a master artisan you could get master blueprints and expert in another skill tree. So in essence you could be a Master DC and make almost all of your own droids. You just wouldn't be able to get all the bells and whistles in the utility droids.
Or you could go Master DE, Master Artisan, and Master Marksman and still have 33 skill points to use in the DC profession. I would imagine that the ability to add one more active battle droid would be around the Level III tree. So you could have two battle droids out at once.
There's a lot of possiblities, you just have to think them through. I'm sorry for those of you who think DE's alone should be able to command an army of droids, but I honestly don't think it's going to happen.
Imador, I just think it's funny how you assume that no one is actually reading your post just because they don't agree with you. I read it fully, even reskimmed it to make sure it sunk in. It was a nicely constructed idea, but I still do not agree with it.
So to sum it up you want a Creature Handler for Droids. Not a bad Idea, this game could use some new class to combat the Creature Handlers. I my self am a Creature Handler, and I wish we had more classes that could match us in power.
I love the ideas on battle droids and Destroyer Droids, I think they should have a Certification system just like pets, but I think Droid Handlers should get more active pets out at a time. So for example a Master Droid Handler can have 4 or mabey even 6 droids out at once to combat creature handlers.
Very detailed.
Waste of space on these boards!
MOST DE's want to USE the droids they make, not make our toys for only others to use. Call me Cartman, but I'm taking my ball and going home. I and Many of DE's chose this profession not only to make the droids, but to be able to USE them. Unless the Devs give us more Skill points, (not going to happen). the only reply is VETO.
Move along citizen.

I dont think a army is the right way to put it.If they use same limit as on a ch done by lvls of the droid instead of critters in this case with a max cap for control we would only ever be able to have 3 droids out at once. That does not seem to overbearing with the current game play now in place.Just my 2 cents.
Guess you missed the whole part about a DC being able to use up to ten expendable basic battle droids at the master level.
