Thread: How rich is everyone?
Server: Radiant
DE Level: Master DE
How long you've held this level: 5 days or so.
How long have you been working on DE: Started working toward DE at release. Took the scenic route and enjoyed taking my time getting there. I'm also 0/0/3/0 in Architect and 3/0/0/0 in Merchant.
Current Credits: 446,000
Most Credits Had: 490,000 appx.
Do you consider yourself successful in your business? Somewhat. By going Architect (installations)also I've managed to save a few bucks by not having to buy most of myequipment, so I've been able to keep costs down. I make enough to keep my harvesters running daily, upkeep my house and vendor, and buy things for my GF and myself. Business gets slow at times (for a few days) then I manage to make a few sales.
Are you happy you went with DE? I love being a DE, although I almost went CH at release. The GF wanted to go CH though and I wanted to be different, so went with my second choice. It's very frusterating at times, to be honest, but I truly enjoy making droids.
We definately need some lovin' from the Devs though, butof course when that happens we'll see a large influx of new DEs who will just be looking to make some cash by jumping on the "combat droid" bandwagon.

Do you consider yourself successful in your business? Sure, I have a loyal customer base, grows a little each day. I also have a friend who helps distribute my droids. I fill bulk orders for him (40-60 droids) about once a week.
Are you happy you went with DE? Not really, building the same things over and over again offers little reward other than credits, which are only useful in harvesters and house maintenance.

Do you consider yourself successful in your business? Yes, even there is another MDE in same town but doesnt seem to bother my business.
Are you happy you went with DE? Um i suppose yes, even when droid have very little funcition.

Do you consider yourself successful in your business? Yes
Are you happy you went with DE? In retrospect, providing people with toons has been kind of rewarding on a personal level. From a game point of view, I wish I had taken armor or weapons smith as my primary crafting class, and worked the droid grind as a 'in game hobby'.
Here is mine:
Server: Starsider
DE Level: 1 2 0 4
How long: A week
How long have you been working on DE: 3 weeks.
Current Credits: 250,000 (Roughly)
Most Credits Had: 250,000
Are you successful: Not much. It's hard to sell droids in an old server like Starsider. I am based on Theed so that helps. I keep running around Theed yelling about every half hour when I'm on advertising my droids. Hopefully when I get my store on theworld's map it'll catch up.
Are you happy: Not really. Having meaningless droid chassis, having data and storage modules being useless, having unrepairable probots, sucky personality chips, no customization possibilities, and competing against mouse droids with all the modules for 1.5k is very tough. Spending 15 minutes each sell explaining how droids work, or how probots are not that bad gets old fast.
Server:Tarquinas
DE Level: 4,3,0,4
How long you've held this level: About a week now.
How long have you been working on DE: 3 to4 months (I'm not rushing to get to master but will get there)
Current Credits: About 550,000
Most Credits Had: About 550,000 ( Actually had this before I started DE put it all into becoming a good DE, literaly got down to under 1k and am just now getting back up to this amount of credits.)
Do you consider yourself successful in your business? Yes I am in a very good location on Naboo just south of Theed in the Gatcity Mega Mall and it is hard for me to keep my vendor fully stocked, I don't really have any extra time to do anything besides restocking my vendor since I moved the mall about3 weeks ago.
Are you happy you went with DE? Yes I had been planning it for a long time before the game came out.
DE Level: Master
How long you've held this level: 1-2 Months (don't remember exactly)
How long have you been working on DE: 1 week after release
Current Credits: 2500000
Most Credits Had: 5000000
Do you consider yourself successful in your business? Yes, I don't go for lowest possible prices because of the time I spend explaining droids and taking custom orders, or burning myself out building mass quantities of cheap stuff. I get repeat customers and referrals, so I must be doing something right with my customer services at least! Not all my income is from droids tho - I've sold a lot of resources as well.
Are you happy you went with DE? Mostly. I'm kind of bored with it, but do have fun helping customers figure out what droid they want or need. I do wish I had more usefulness - I'm tired of explaining that the BLL and basic protocol droid has absolutely no use whatsoever, and that data modules are esentially useless. For the past few weeks I've just been restocking and not even bothering to advertise, just awaiting the next patch, even though it's not bringing us that much. Not expecting to see the new droids for a few months yet.

Do you consider yourself successful in your business? Yes, been selling droids ever since I've hit Novice DE. And would probably sell more if I actually advertised (I advertised once, on the Ahazi forum, to sell BLL's as kinda of a joke. Actually sold a couple through that). In game, I don't hawk my wares, most of my sales are from people just wondering by my store, so I think there is more credits to be made if I really wanted to.
Are you happy you went with DE? Yes, frustrating sometimes but overall a good experience. Even though some droids are useless, they are still cool to have around. I just love ordering my BLL move around my house and else where. The best part is I can sell him and make another for myself right away. That being said, yes, the DE profession needs fixing and don't fix them to be like creature handlers though. We need to be different.

Consider myself succesful: after reading this thread, yes...it's sad how poor most other DEs are
Am I happy?: Somewhat. Being a member of perhaps the weakest crafting profession where the products are as bugged as they are and significant issues not addressed by game developers is frustrating. In terms of financial happiness--not very, Weaponsmiths, Armorsmiths, Tailors (and probably chefs) are much more succesful than we are. Med sellers and resource merchants also make money hand-over-fist. Only reason I have the amount of money I do is because I have three shops operating. It's taken a lot of effort to get to this level. Personal satisfaction--definitely, I do enjoy helping folks in their droid selection. I'm always pleased when I get /tells from peopletelling me how much they enjoy their droid. Would I do DE again--probably not. For financial happiness Weaponsmith is the best field. For personal satisfaction I wish I had done chef as I would really enjoy running/being involved with a cantina once player cities come out.

Do you consider yourself successful in your business? Yes. I accept the fact that I'm not a millionare since I sell at relatively low prices. I have a positive (albeit slim) net income, which is a sign of success in any business.
Are you happy you went with DE? YES. I love droids. I'm most displeased at the current state of our profession's code. However, I love building droids and selling them to customers that aren't demanding, selfish, or rude. (note: some days customers don't meet the above criteria, so being a crafter of any type looks a little grim) ![]()

How long have you been working on DE: About a week after release, if you count Artisan too

Do you consider yourself successful in your business?: Definetly yes. I've been out on a few hunts as a rifleman, and I cannot keep up with many of the straight fighters. If I had to make my money that way, I'd be pretty poor. Also, I'm good with player-to-player interaction, and I'm very friendly with customers. I have a good client base, and I always encourage my customers to tell others about me. Ifa person buys a droid, and it doesn't do what they thought it would, I will give them a hand, answer questions, and if I have to, I'll refund their purchase. And, I always try to upgrade them.
Are you happy you went with DE?: Yes, because I love droids, and it fit with my character. Although, they need ALOT of work. They could be so much better. It could really be a great selling point for the game, if they did it right.
This is a great post, BTW. Thanks to the orginal poster.

Do you consider yourself successful in your business? Yes, very. Large customer base. Constant referals. I buy some of my resources to keep up with my demand, or I'd have over 1 mil. I've even raised prices 5k across the board because I sold out too fast, and I still sold out just as fast. I attribute it mostly to customer service and location.
Are you happy you went with DE? Yes, Very. I devote my time about 80-90% on droid making and my shop. I've done the combat thing in other games, it's a great change. I love making droids and hearing the "cool" from customers that buy their first droid. Will love it when I get orders for newdroids (hopefully not ONLY battle droids)when they come out.
