Thread: I'm ready for my closeup, Mr. Developer! Today's the day...
What will come , will come, and then we will argue about it. That's SOE communication for you in it's old (and new) format..and nothing has really changed.
"It's not the things that you failed to do
That should make you wipe your eye
It's the things that you could, and should have done
And simply failed to try " - My Mum ![]()
Don't anyone hold breath over this..it will not be worth waiting for..call me a cynic lol
The number 4+ Million has kept popping into my posts the past week. I know it may be irritating to kick the dead horse so much, but **edit**!! 4+ million dollars a month in subscriptions alone, and we cant seem to get more than 10 people to work on SWG. How many subscribers to this game? And they cant seem to find the money to hire another few people to share TH workload? He *obviously* cannot do it alone. He has *way* too much on his plate. The correspondent program is great and all, but you still have a single person, in a <longer than?>-normal workday processing info from 36(?) correspondents. That Is Insane!
2 weeks and I haven't made a single droid. But luckily I have worked Chef during that time, and have therefore been occupied. I did Chef because I knew they were gonna fix them waaaaaay before fixing DE, and I am DEPERATE for some attention. Even though that meant I grinded out another broken profession soI could then have the satisfaction of actually being on the recieving end of something good. (grinded, or ground?)
So I am still 0/4 in professions. Tailor first (works, but pathetic implementation of color and options, and no experimentation), Artisan (Birdcages, Yay!!), DE ('nuff said), and now Chef (talk about regurgitated and recycled ideas). Hopefully soon I'll be 2/2.

Speaking of their so called new communications for the year. Not only aren't we getting any information on DE changes that are supposed to be going in for the Jan patch but shouldn't the In Concept page have some posts for discussion onthe Feband March updates already.

We're still ready...that's true.

By the way we are ready since a long time to hear about change to our profession ...

Why they need TH for this I dunno.
Exactly.
I can't believe they'd try to feed us this 'line'. Seems like "communication" is about what I'd expect, so far...

Drask said that the devs and stuff are currently pulled off like all projects to fix a game breaking vendor bug that is causing database overload. Why they need TH for this I dunno.
Oracle Dude #1: The amount of records you folks have is far too excessive for your current hardware setup. You need to limit your data in order to see your performance improve.
Q3-BO: How about an optimization. Would it help if we added another 20 minutes for optimization with the morning reboots?
Oracle Dude #1: It's possible. But you're still looking at a major problem that even an optimization might not help.
Q3-BO: Get everyone in here, we need to fix this ASAP!
E-Peenmarine: What about more hardware? 64 bit processing anyone?
Oracle Dude #3: They're too unstable yet for high end servers. Give it a couple years...
Talkinghead: (interrupting, chewing a granola bar) Hey guys, what's up!!
Oracle Dude #2: Your databases are overloaded with records. You need to do a spring cleaning.
Q3-BO: I want ideas!
(Oracle Dudes are silent...)
E-Peenmarine: I still vote for more hardware.
(silence)
Talkinghead: (happy) What if weintroducea creature that randomly steals people's stuff off their vendors? (player's voice) "The Elodium Pu-36 Explosive space modulator! That creature has stolen the space modulator!!!"
Oracle Dude #1: (raised eyebrow) Is he supposed to be in here?
Q3-BO: Yeah.... he represents our players, remember?
Talkinghead: (prissy voice) I'm familiar with over 6 million forms of delaying tactics, my idea is pure gold!
Oracle Dude #2: (groans) Let's be real. You need to hard-cap whatever is causing such a huge load on the databases.
Talkinghead: (giddy) OOh! What's this? (pointing at a large 60 port switch, lights furiously flashing)
Oracle Dude #1: Don't you have a vast amount of records in your game that are relatively useless?I had a friend who played your game at Berkley say that there is a lot of junk that gets put on the public bazaar.Isn't that supposed to be sold and removed from the game elsewhere?
Q3-BO: Yeah, the junk dealer... but nobody sells stuff to him cause our rewards are laughable. (recites mantra) Gotta keep that economy down!
(Talkinghead is mesmerized by the server switch)
Oracle Dude #3: Well, I still say you should wa.....
(Talkinghead rips out all the CAT-5 cables from the switch)
Oracle Dudes (in unison): WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING?
Talkinghead: (Proudly) Now I can go back to the peons and say we have a hardware problem! (giggles) I like to have a real reason behind my delaying tactics.
OMG, others that have flukes! Using mine as a back rest at the moment.
OH how I really was hoping to come here today and find some good news about our fsked up profession. Think it is time for me to go on strike too and work on different skills. Might not be long before I start surrending Master Art and Master DE skills.
Ho...
I've heard some leaked info.
"well, for the time being, there will be no "high end" droids", "It will be the same as Pets - no handling over LvL 10"
Anything you've "heard" is simply rumor, hearsay and conjecture until such time that a 'red-name' posts any information on our future.

I've seen enough supposedly real "info" on a lot of things in SWG that I don't believe ANYTHING I hear until I see it posted by a Dev (and maybe not even then).
Word to the wise: Don't believe everything you read.
